There are a lot of posts of people worrying. I thought it could be helpful to share positive and assuring information in one thread.

For me, the most reassuring thing so far is the fact that of approx. 1500 people in the UK suspected to have and tested for CV have come back as negative.

@Jrobhatch29 I’m due mid May
When are you due?

I’m high risk so have an additional 4 scans to go in for whereas normally I’d be done by now.

Wishing I could have a home birth but I have to have a c section this time

Jrobhatch29 · 10/03/2020 08:20

Thanks @Sunshinegirl82 i read that guidance this morning!
@NemophilistRebel im due in may too. I have an appointment on friday to see if i can have a section. I cant believe this is ruining our special time x

Re the Daily Mail.

A few years ago the airport near me was completely shut down due to a ‘terrorist incident’. Very, very quickly it became clear that the terrorist was in fact a woman who had called in with a bomb threat - to try to prevent her husband going on his jollies with his mistress. The local authorities issued a crystal clear statement about what had happened & everything went back to normal. Anyways, TWO HOURS later after it was all well and truly over, the DM ran a front page article saying that due to a terrorist incident the entire city had shut down, mass panic etc etc etc.

Number 1 it was all over, number 2 the city had never been shut down. So there was a bit of truth in there - but not much.

Just saying.

Definitely light at the end of the tunnel for the Chinese and that will be us in a couple of months time.

I think that's the key. It's keeping the idea that eventually things will get better. I am up and down, some days like yesterday are very positive and other days I start to panic again. It's weird, I'm not worrying about the illness itself. It's the unknown element of it all. It's getting to the stage though that MN is becoming unusable with all the hysterical threads which would be such a shame as you lot on this thread are all amazing.

peoplepleaser1 · 10/03/2020 08:40

@PineappleDanish it's so reassuring to see China coming out of the other end of this. What I can't understand though is how they then prevent it all happening again by someone bringing the virus back into the country after travelling.

Tell me I've missed something?

Roussette · 10/03/2020 08:42

I agree, the sheer volume of corono related threads are too much. It's getting on my nerves TBH.

MarshaBradyo · 10/03/2020 08:42

I do feel the response on the U.K. is proportionate and the messages coming from CMO and govt feel ok. I had a greater sense of urgency before but now I think timing is key.

PineappleDanish · 10/03/2020 08:55

Stock market bouncing back today as well which is a good indication that the experts think the economy isn't going to tank.

ShanghaiDiva · 10/03/2020 09:05

@peoplepleaser1
There are strict quarantine measures for those returning to China. 14 days self isolation at home, even if you have no symptoms and daily health checks.
14 days isolation in designated quarantine area if you come from Italy, South Korea or Iran.
Am up to date with this as it will affect me when I go home
Btw this is my city, but assume pretty standard except for Wuhan.

Orangeblossom78 · 10/03/2020 09:09

Dr Harries said the vast majority of those diagnosed with coronavirus in Britain are "pretty well" but that they may "feel rough for a few days".

From BBC today talking about people in UK with it

This made me laugh. Trump, the scientific genius!

Sorry, this one (Trump) www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-us-canada-51761880/trump-on-coronavirus-people-are-really-surprised-i-understand-this-stuff

Trump on coronavirus: 'People are really surprised I understand this stuff'
During a visit to the headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday, President Trump touted his own understanding of the coronavirus outbreak.
"Maybe I have natural ability," he said, referring to a "super-genius" relative who was a scientist.

@RapidRainbow want to start thread 2 before this one fills up?

Jrobhatch29 · 10/03/2020 09:18

Ah girls ive been really silly today and kept my kids off school. I regret it now but the news of the case around the corner really freaked me out. Im blaming pregnancy hormones

Rassy · 10/03/2020 09:19

The Daily Mail (yes I know I shouldn't look!) has an article today on why we shouldn't panic. Wonder if they are feeling ok! GrinSorry but can't do the link from my phone.

Comps83 · 10/03/2020 09:21

This is such a good thread
I feel better since I deleted my news app
I just check the Govt. website once a day now

peoplepleaser1 · 10/03/2020 09:23

@ShanghaiDiva thank you so much for taking the time to explain that.

peoplepleaser1 · 10/03/2020 09:25

Trump spouting absolute nonsense is the type of thing that fuels distrust in the general public. Distrust leads to people not following advice. Idiot.

Waterandlemonjuice · 10/03/2020 09:28

This is a helpful article called 10 reasons not to panic, sorry if already posted

peridito · 10/03/2020 09:28

Jrobhatch29 you're worried ,not silly!

Don't regret it ,have as nice a day as you can with treats and snuggle up with your DC .Bit like a bonus "snow day" without the snow .

Chin up .Brew + Flowers

Alsohuman · 10/03/2020 09:32

Apparently Trump’s gibberish and complete lack of any action is likely to have a significant effect on his re-election chances. Every cloud and all that.

magimedi · 10/03/2020 09:44

I've taken the liberty of starting Part II of this thread:
