There are a lot of posts of people worrying. I thought it could be helpful to share positive and assuring information in one thread.

For me, the most reassuring thing so far is the fact that of approx. 1500 people in the UK suspected to have and tested for CV have come back as negative.

Thanks for the recent posts, they are very helpful to me. I feel exhausted with anxiety about all this.

Does anyone know what time the cobra meeting today is?

Orangeblossom78 · 09/03/2020 09:53

Does anyone know if having to isolate at home is it possible to go outside? In the garden or park? We live in a flat and bit worried about this. Thanks

AvocadoPrime · 09/03/2020 09:56

Definately staying on this thread. I've spent the last week trying to keep up with 'the other thread'. Its draining me. It's like no one wants to see the positive facts or listen to reason. It was just making me so anxious! It's all slightly obsessive and way to much for me.

I've turned off all notifications from my news apps and just had a nice walk in the sunshine. I'll stay here as I've read a few pages this morning and already feel much better, so thank you!

Orangeblossom78 · 09/03/2020 09:58

I cancelled going to my aqua fit class today - lots of older people and have a bit of a cold, sounds silly but I worried about passing something on to them as had been away in France recently and 'you never know'. Thing is exercise can be good for anxiety can't it.

Maybe tomorrow will try and go to yoga but take my own mat as theirs are minging anyway and there are never enough!

tud41 · 09/03/2020 10:04

Only 40 cases in China today and 69 in South Korea looks to me that it has about 7 weeks of high cases and then calms right down with the right measures

Thymelord · 09/03/2020 10:10

It is good news about China. I think we can assume that it is pretty much 'over' for them.

Be interesting to hear the outcome of the COBRA meeting today. I have swung from 'we are not going away on Friday' to 'Yay i'm going away on Friday' Grin I think I need to assuage my anxiety with 3 days of eating lots of food and drinking cocktails!

DontCallMeDarling · 09/03/2020 10:43

I think you can definitely go walk in your garden, but not sure about the Park. I know people locked down in Wuhan, carried on walking their dogs.

Orangeblossom78 · 09/03/2020 11:00

It seems in lockdown / quarantine can go out but stay apart from others, but in self isolation need to stay home and not go out. Fingers crossed not that then, think would end up arguing lots with DH if stuck in with him and our two boys in the flat for two weeks!

Spacecadetagain · 09/03/2020 11:03

COBRA meeting is 11 am

AutumnRose1 · 09/03/2020 11:05

Just heard from a GP contact of mine

She says the surgery are inundated with calls from the worried well, and worse, getting actual visits. She’s also concerned that hysteria is causing trouble and is more worried about that than the virus itself.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 09/03/2020 11:06

That absolutely doesn't sound silly, it sounds public-spirited and good behaviour. Catching a cold is not always mild for someone elderly, after all! Good for you.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 09/03/2020 11:08

I don’t want to be the thread police. But the OP started this thread for positive thoughts. Not counting cases and worrying about COBRA meetings. Stay on the other thread if that’s your bag.

Here we are zen and peace and calming thoughts.

AutumnRose1 · 09/03/2020 11:09

Agree, Dobby.

Spudlet · 09/03/2020 11:10

I think once this blows over - which it will - there needs to be a review of how this thing has been reported and how information has been communicated by the media and the government. Things like the hysteria over cases rising, without any information about how many of those are active cases and how many people have recovered, for example.

There has been some quite irresponsible reporting, imo, and I agree that the fear of this illness has the potential to do more harm than the illness itself, as things stand.

Tartan333 · 09/03/2020 11:10

Sorry Dobby, I agree. Anxiety just gets the better of me at times

Spudlet · 09/03/2020 11:13

Anyway, in the interests of zen - just back from my morning run in the woods. It was beautiful - the birds were starting to sing, and it was noticeably warmer than it has been in recent weeks too. It felt like the sap was rising and chlorophyll levels were about to shoot up! I recommend some forest bathing for all those who can - time with trees is always time well spent. And I met a wire-haired Dachshund called Ralph, I mean, does it get any better? Smile

Alsohuman · 09/03/2020 11:15

Good news about Glastonbury, I bet it’s still impossible to get tickets.

Orangeblossom78 · 09/03/2020 11:16

It looks a lovely day out there, it is only 4 weeks till the school Easter holidays.

Maybe that is why the docs are being careful with appts, in case all the worried well are overwhelming them. I hear 111 is the same and they have taken on more staff to deal with it.

AutumnRose1 · 09/03/2020 11:21

Spudlet, the suburbs just feel grey and overcrowded still.
Hopefully I can see some green soon!
Did Ralph introduce himself?

Good news re all events methinks.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 09/03/2020 11:25

My company has just banned all but business critical travel and part of me is like WHHAAAAT?! but then the main part of me is like 'yay no travelling - easy life!'

Selfishly I'm just hoping I can still go to Cape Verde at Easter, this is all getting a bit too much.

Spacecadetagain · 09/03/2020 11:26

@DobbyTheHouseElk sorry I was just replying to someone’s question as to when it was .
I too have turned off the news push notifications on my phone and also am not watching the news at home esp in the evenings. DD aged 9 is quite anxious about it all so we are keeping home a news free zone

Spudlet · 09/03/2020 11:26

He certainly did, he came and put sandy paw prints all over my running leggings. But he was so sweet and gentle I really didn’t mind! Smile

Orangeblossom78 · 09/03/2020 11:29

I just rang my father in Scotland, he had been out on his bike enjoying himself (mid 70s) seemed fine, reassured me in fact. Maybe I need to take a leaf out of his book. I think sometimes the older people are more 'zen' they have experienced health stuff and know time is precious and we can't always predict and control things, so just get on with it
