magimedi · 10/03/2020 09:44

I hope that RapidRainbow does not mind me starting Part II of the thread - if you do let me know & I'll ask for it to be deleted.

It would just be a shame to not carry on as this is such a positive place.

Part I is here:

Thank you magi you're a Star

PineappleDanish · 10/03/2020 09:52

Glad to have found the second thread.

Belmo · 10/03/2020 09:53

Hello! Been watching the previous thread - thanks very much everyone, was getting myself a bit upset last week but this and deleting the news app off my phone has made me feel so much better. We’re just washing our hands and carrying on as normal for the time being.

Comps83 · 10/03/2020 09:56

I would 100% recommend deleting news apps or just turning off notifications and only checking the official guidance . I've calmed down a lot since doing this . Some of the fb groups I follow have banned all C-virus posts now too which is good .

3luckystars · 10/03/2020 10:02

I'm continuing to watch only uplifting and funny films. If anyone would like to listen to something relaxing there are loads here:

Good luck.

Sugarmirror · 10/03/2020 10:05

Positive news: % of those seriously or critically ill has gone down 1% on Worldometer

littlequestion · 10/03/2020 10:08

This is the "reasons not to panic" Daily Mail link someone mentioned in the previous thread.

ExpletiveDelighted · 10/03/2020 10:12

Thank you all, this thread has definitely helped me keep things in perspective.

Sunshinegirl82 · 10/03/2020 10:12

I'm feeling positive about the government response and approach.

My dislike of Boris is pretty well documented but the CMO and his team seem to be making sensible, evidence based recommendations which is great.

Spudlet · 10/03/2020 10:13

[waves to all]

Jrobhatch29 · 10/03/2020 10:17

Sorry to be a data bore but again that daily mail article says 20% of hubei was infected. How? It has a population of 56 million. Chris witty said the same thing last week. Are they accounting for probable unreported cases? X

HonestlyItsFine · 10/03/2020 10:22

20% of 56 million is 11,200,000 (if my maths is right)
Total confirmed cases are around 105,000 worldwide.
I don't know where they are getting that figure from, even if they are accounting for people with no symptoms.

HelloMist · 10/03/2020 10:23

Dr Ranj video about coronavirus for kids but I also found it reassuring/his voice soothing.

I didn't post on the first thread but have been finding it helpful to help stop my anxiety from spiralling (which it does watching or reading other sources!)

HonestlyItsFine · 10/03/2020 10:26

And, a statistic that comforted me- the total % of people who are officially confirmed to have or have had this virus in Hubei province (including Wuhan) is 0.121% of their population.

Canshopwillshop · 10/03/2020 10:29

This thread is like a sturdy life raft thrown from a sinking HMS Coronavirus into a sea of gloom and doom. Thank you.

Just browsing other threads (I know I know!) where lots of posters seems to think they know better than the medical experts and scientists.

I’ll leave them to their obsessing over the Worldometer App and musings based on twitter feeds from people who claim to be Drs (so they must be true!!).

Canshopwillshop · 10/03/2020 10:30

@HonestlyItsFine - that’s a v encouraging stat! Thanks.

7Days · 10/03/2020 10:31

Marking place.
This thread is a Godsend

Bloodybackpain · 10/03/2020 10:32

Place marking.
I feel a lot better having done a meditation for anxiety, Insight Timer app is very good if anyone is interested

Alsohuman · 10/03/2020 10:38

Thank you for part 2, this is a little haven of sanity amidst all the lunacy.

PineappleDanish · 10/03/2020 10:44

I have just bitten the bullet and made an appointment to see the GP on thursday. Really struggling today. Keep me going with the positive thinking!

thereplycamefromanchorage · 10/03/2020 10:51

Thank you. Placemarking to help my sanity.

Nicecupofcoco · 10/03/2020 11:02

Good to see new positive thread, part two! It's a godsend! Smile

TwoleftUggs · 10/03/2020 11:03

Thanks for the second thread. First one was a godsend.
Feeling good today. I also downloaded a mindfulness app on my phone - headspace. You don’t get much free without subscribing but it will keep me going until I find a better one.

Wheresthebeach · 10/03/2020 11:38

Yeah a second thread...feeling stressed as asthmatic...which makes the asthma worse of course! Trying to breath, stay calm...really appreciate the good news/perspective here.

PineappleDanish · 10/03/2020 11:56

Headspace is very good. Let me know if you find another better one.
