Airplane terror attack

If stabbing a fellow pilot and trying to down a plane with 180 Israelis isn't terrorism what is?

It seems like a mass terrorism event has been fouled but heroes on an air plane this morning

Many if our news outlets are describing this as a stabbing on an airplane. No...if you stab the pilot and the plane plummet towards the ground that is an attempt at mass murder... terrorism.

Are the media so afraid now of using the word terrorism that they completely downplay the event. Third rated news article in the Guardian after political stories

It's a reminder of how many enemies Israel has and what they are prepared to do.

I assumed that the airline staff, like the passengers, would be searched before boarding. How on earth was one of them allowed to carry a weapon on to the plane?

Like everywhere there'll be useless staff who don't do their jobs properly.

Don't they have to walk through those arch things?

They are, but for example see my previous post about the rumoured use of an axe...

When they do random drugs tests on pilots they should also do random social media/Internet search checks. See where ideology and interests lie. Massive breach of privacy obviously, still preferable to wiping out 180 people.

Most people would be fine with that I'm sure

We don’t have to ‘whip up islamaphobia’.
Muslims by their actions do it quite well themselves.
How many terrorist attacks in the last 25 yrs have NOT been committed in the name of ‘Islam’?? No wonder people are afraid.
Thank God there were two pilots on the plane -one of whom is being reported as being British. Brave men.

Exactly. Oh let's wait for the investigation. Well yes the officials will do just that however like everything that happens on the news it is perfectly normal to discuss it.

Someone will no doubt mention the German wings atrocity in a mo, missing the point that that was the exception and these mass atrocities are usually carried out by jihadis.

notimagain · 30/09/2026 16:31

@Eastie77Returns

On a Wizz air flight recently I observed the flight attendants knocking on the cockpit door and then it opened.

And in a nutshell you've described one major major problem with the "always two on the flightdeck rule" that almost everyone thinks is universal but actually isn't these days.

(All the above is in the public domain, in case anyone is wondering)

Lets see what the investigation shows and not jump to any conclusions prematurely. Thank goodness there was no loss of life, and I hope the injured guys make a full recovery. Must have been terrifying for the passengers.

What on earth do you think it was about?! This place is an utter joke at times.

Then show me the bit where I said specifically that I didn't believe the family were killed by Hamas. I said I don't know as I don't trust either narrative. Both have a motive to lie. I approached the situation from a purely logical perspective, not an emotive one. I did also blame Hamas for their deaths for kidnapping them in the first place no matter what the circumstances of their deaths.

It was patently clear what you were saying. You just didn't have the guts to say it out loud.

The idea that Israel needed to publish the autopsy reports of a mother, her 9 month old baby and 3 year old son, so you MIGHT believe they were murdered by savages who'd already slaughtered and raped 1200 people, including 37 children, and taken 251 adults and children hostage in a frenzy over less than 24 hours, against her former hostage husband's (and the father of those babies) wishes in which he threatened legal action to preserve their dignity, is abhorrent beyond belief.

Shiri Bibas's parents were also murdered by Palestinians on Oct 7th btw. Do you believe that?

As long as all these SM checks are done for all crew no objections from me.

PurpleThistle7 · 30/09/2026 16:35

Total mess for the Israelis on board as they aren’t even allowed in Saudi Arabia. Read that they wouldn’t allow an Israeli rescue plane into their air space. If anyone had needed medical attention they’d be stuck in the airport.

On a Wizz air flight recently I observed the flight attendants knocking on the cockpit door and then it opened. It did occur to me that a terrorist could force them to gain access.

I also noticed that when one of the pilots went to the toilet a flight attendant replaced him in the cockpit, presumably pilots are no longer left alone after the horrific Eurowings tragedy. When the pilot returned from the loo he entered a code on the cockpit door and entered, I’m sure an eagle eyed person sitting close enough might be able to see that code.

None of this felt particularly secure to me!

The pilots can see who’s knocking at the door of the cockpit.

I class one thousand babies under the age of one being killed a terrorist attack. I class bombing a school of young girls a terrorist attack. I class the attack by Anders Breivik in 2011 as a terrorist attack. I class the the Christchurch Mosque shootings in New Zealand in 2019 a terrorist attack. I can go on if you like but I also class the entire attack on Iraq for no reason, resulting in hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths and the subsequent birth defects as a result of the land being poisoned by depleted uranium munitions as a terrorist attack.

We need another name don't we as the islamaphobia label just does not work and is far too lazy. Jihadiphobia perhaps? I'm definitely scared of atrocities being committed by jihadis.

AnyfoolcanknowThepointistounderstand · 30/09/2026 16:39

Interesting fact (and please fact check if you don't believe it) -

Palestinians literally INVENTED plane hijacking for political purposes.

Obviously need to wait to see if this attempted hijacking was in support of Palestinians.

Just saying.

Gloriia · 30/09/2026 16:19

Yes I know they'd done a course I didn't know they were employed as commercial pilots though.

They were flying as passengers and had obviously been able to practice flying the plane type through simulations.

dustabsorber · 30/09/2026 16:42

Perhaps they were just after the aircraft fuel

Reports coming out that the co-pilot was an Omani national who had worked for the Dubai airline for 9 months.

Reports that the pilot (who was very seriously wounded) was Emirati.

Also reports the weapon was an axe!

This was via a British man with relatives on the flight.

Quite surreal to see the Israeli passengers singing and clapping along to Am Israel Chai via a loudspeaker after the danger had been averted.

The co pilot injured was Indian.

lepara · 30/09/2026 16:44

One of the pilots manages to get a knife or stabbing implement on board. Security screen not apply to him? I know the answer but how did he get the weapon, was it in the galley or what?

I am not going to speculate on the hows and whys, we don't know yet. It is being portrayed as a violent spat in the flight deck.

At least I have one answer. I was trying to figure out who the heck landed the plane if both pilots were incapacitated. Lucky there were two off duty pilots on board, those passengers were very fortunate there.

We shall see. Now that all are well and on the ground, it sounds like a jealous fight. You got the better gig, you met my wife, I saw you. Whatever. Let's hope that's what it was or similar.

Why does a flight attendant knocking on the door and subsequently having it opened for them mean terrorists could force said door? This makes zero sense.

Really? You think the fact the plane was full of Israelis is pure coincidence. It was a spat about gigs and wives?
