Conflict in the Middle East

Why would would you still have pro Palestinian marches apart from now instilling more fear into the Jewish community

Now we have what looks like a peace to be celebrated why are people still going to march for Palestine? The genocide has stopped in their opinion so shouldn't they be at least joyful or if that is not the case what do they really want? Do they want to keep marching until the Israeli state is no more?

The subject has been discussed at length on these CEM threads if you’re following them you will have read

Here’s one called
‘what was the purpose of this level of destruction ‘. There’s some info on there but of course many others

You request for images is sick and you’re acceptance or denial irrelevant

Why is it sick? Surely you would expect the photos and videos to match up with the ‘facts’ people keep trying to tell you? I have read the threads and nobody has given me an adequate answer. I genuinely, honestly want to know.

It's all very well piously saying 'well they should be arrested', but it's clear that they aren't being arrested and these things keep happening and Jews and other concerned parties keep being told that there's nothing to worry about and it's all actually about peace and love.

Someone on another thread the other day literally tried to tell me that 'Death to the IDF' isn't actually calling for death.

People rightly do not want calls for death or support for terrorists on the streets of our country and yet these things keep happening. It is not fair on the rest of the country to keep pretending that it's not a problem and prattling on about how there should be arrests.

It needs to be sorted out. The organisers are clearly incapable (or more likely don't actually want to). The police are not bothering. So now what?

I’m all for free speech but I think people on the streets of Britain, with their faces covered, calling for the destruction of Israel and death to Israelis (Jews), week after week. is something we should all be very concerned about, for several reasons. You don’t have to think they’re antisemitic (I do) to think they’re problematic.

  • There is still a land and sea blockade in Gaza.
  • There are also no guarantees that Israel won’t return to bombing Gaza again. There are no ramifications if Netanyahu breaks the ceasefire as he has done before.
  • The Israeli army are still oppressing people in the West Bank, raiding houses, threatening people etc…
  • They are still supporting settlers there who are attacking Palestinians, destroying olive groves and houses.
  • They are still demolishing Palestinian houses and building new settlements on recently stolen land.
  • Palestinians are still dying, still being oppressed and still do not have human rights.

This has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with human rights. People in Ireland didn’t hate Britain because they were protestant - they hated them because they stole their land, murdered families, deported people by force. People didn’t hate Osama Bin Laden or Saddam Hussein because they were muslim - it was the murder, oppression and human rights violation bit that made people hate them. People didn’t protest the Iraq war because of religion, they came out enmasse because people were dying and our governments were causing that. During the Iraq war I tried to get a taxi in Tunis - we had five taxis who drove out of the rank and refused to take us because they thought we were British so we had to walk, we had a shop assistant tell us to leave and a lot of hostile encounters. In Paris we had a waiter demand to know if we were British or American and then relax once I said Irish (my partner stayed quiet). They didn’t do this because they thought we were protestant or catholic, they did this because the US and UK were bombing Iraq. The marches aren’t against jewish people, they are for human rights and for Palestinians having the right to self determination.

Most of us have lived long enough to have seen several bombing campaigns in Gaza where Israel say they are leaving but continue to control borders, drop the occasional bomb, shoot a few random kids or farmers and then after a few months or a few years bomb the crap out of Gaza again. It is an eternal loop. Every few years you turn on the news in the safety of your own house and see another bombing - a few thousand Gazans dead, kids shot on a beach. You have Israeli leaders who say things about having to “mow the lawn” occasionally. Pre October 7th there was not a genocide but there was oppression, displacement, murder and always the lingering threat of more.

If you don’t want protests and you don’t want uprisings or resistance give people the rights that you yourself enjoy, stop expanding settlements, and make sure that they have nothing to rise up against.

You said it well.

Israel kill journalists so dont be surprised you are not seeing the true level of starvation and destruction.

CopperWhite · 14/10/2025 20:22

What a stupid question. Palestine is nowhere near free from Israeli torment. There are still civilians held without charge or trial in Israeli prisons for a start there is plenty still to protest about.

Please can you show me 1 reputable news site video showing underweight adult Gazans as a norm in any part of the strip? It’s a very small piece of land which is heavily populated, nobody is going to escape famine there by farming. How can Sky News be biased in filming the crowds of thousands of people showing up to welcome back the prisoners yesterday, the vast majority looking a very healthy weight? There were many thousands of them.

How do you explain the video I posted? Thousands of Gazans, filmed yesterday, all gathering to greet the prisoners? Women, children, men, young, old; all energetic and healthy looking?

TicklishMauveSquid · 14/10/2025 20:25

FreedomandPeace · 14/10/2025 19:09

just to clarify
According to reports they did not cross the line.
They were approaching it when they were killed by the IDF

There is no requirement in the ceasefire to have the line and then another line within that.

Agree, back to the thread subject

Edited

It even clearly says in your own link that warning shots were fired but the suspects carried on approaching.

Why would anyone, especially fighting age men, approach a military area they’d been warned not to at risk of being shot at (I saw the warning notices distributed in Arabic), ignore warning shots and carry on approaching?

This continuing feigned naïveté of seeing ALL Palestinians as completely innocent is decidedly tedious and has been for a long while.

FreedomandPeace · 14/10/2025 19:37

As you say
’no one has a right not to be offended’ and I’m glad you have brought that up because I didn’t want to be the one to do so as it is quite contentious.

We have similar going on in the GC movement with trans people being offended and scared by every word, but words that upset others are not always Hate speech and harassment. And
Being offended is unavoidable if people disagree

No one has the right to ask others not to demonstrate on something they believe in because it offends them or because it scares them.

This. Im very much reminded of the trans movement when people complain about the marches.

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 14/10/2025 19:46

So are you denying the fact that children without pre-existing medical conditions have starved to death because of the blockade?

I'm usually pro palestine, I've said it before and I'm saying it again, yes there was babies who died of starvation, many adults starving too, and just as many with no signs of starvation, signs of weight gain and muscle tone.
The aid that got in was clearly hogged by the insiders too, double trouble for the innocents.

Because what the media show is not the true reality ESPECIALLY in this conflict and ESPECIALLY as journalists showing the truth get killed along with doctors, medical staff etc.

The evidence of starvation I have seen are isolated images of single Palestinians - 20 max - looking very emaciated indeed. Usually babies.

I just cannot square this with the video upthread of tens of thousands of Gazans all jumping for joy energetically looking very healthy and well fed, after allegedly living in famine conditions for the best part of year.

We know Hamas do unspeakable things, I truly wouldn’t put it past them to starve a handful of unfortunate individuals in order to further the ruse.

In every other famine men, women and children all look thin. The nature of famine is people are starving, for months. There is no famine whereby people stay a healthy weight. Why is nobody explaining this?

THERE WERE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF THEM IN THE VIDEO!!! Literally the most authentic, organic, widespread footage of Gazans you can get. A literal livestream of enormous crowds with zero editing. How do you explain that one away?

You don't think the issue of the marches has been raised as a problem?

What really stinks is the people insisting over and over to people who can see the problem, that there isn't a problem and glossing over videos that demonstrate that there clearly is a problem with a 'well those people should be arrested'. It's been going on for two years!

I'd also like to know if those people who say they've been on the marches and never seen or heard anything dodgy if they can genuinely say that they've not heard 'from the river to the sea', or more recently 'death to the IDF'. Or not seen any placards demonising 'Zionists'.

They will say the famine was in other areas of Gaza, which rather begs the question of why Gazans living in such close proximity weren’t sharing resources during the war, and what this says about the culture of Palestinians when new cafes named to mock the genocide of Israelis open, while children are dying of starvation a few miles away.

Gaza is smaller than London and there are plenty of vehicles running to distribute food.

Wasn’t that what the UN was supposed to be doing anyway?

A major announcement from Gaza. A new cafe is about to open. They call themselves “Cafe Nova.” Where did they get the name from?

‘Over on other threads’ like some commentary on Mumsnet can demolish the evidence of thousands of very much non-starving people?
