They’re demanding that the government agrees a deal to release the hostages and stop pushing the military effort forward.

It's an Israeli news source.

Nope ... still not coming up on Google, I won't be reading that source as got no idea if it is a reputable source or not.

Will read the ToI source now as I know them to be balanced.

Meanwhile, the horrors continue in the West Bank as well

BBC witnesses Israeli settlers' attack on Palestinian farm in West Bank https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cewy88jle0eo

when will it end?

I just read this too - so sad. I listened to an interview with a Christian Palestinian nun yesterday and her description of the settler situation was very upsetting. People wonder why some Palestinians have such extreme views when their homes and land are violently taken, then roads or buildings are built on their land that they’re not allowed to use. And nothing is seemingly done. Meanwhile, members of the government encourage them. It’s awful.

The Louis Theroux documentary was eye opening. I really couldn’t believe what goes on. It’s no wonder why they’re all so angry - you e got gazans being starved and West Bank citizens having their land stolen.

According to the ToI report, 2 companies of reserve IDF troops were deployed to the West Bank 2 days before the massacre. The number of troops carrying out routine security at the Gaza border was not changed.

The 100 or so soldiers were deployed to the West Bank’s Huwara, the Kan public broadcaster reported, amid heightened tensions there. A shooting attack in the Palestinian town took place against an Israeli family later that day. There were no injuries in the shooting.

Following the report, IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said there was no change in the number of troops carrying out routine security on the Gaza border ahead of Hamas’s October 7 onslaught, but that redeployment of the two commando companies away from Gaza would be investigated.

“The deployment of the forces that carry out regular operational activities [on the border of] the Gaza Strip did not change before October 7,” Hagari said in response to a question at a press conference.

“We will investigate in depth the decision on the reserve forces, which is a General Staff decision that is made regularly according to a situational assessment,” he said.

The term “reserve forces” in this case does not mean members of the reserve army, but rather troops that bolster various regions, based on assessments carried out by the IDF General Staff. The two Commando Brigade companies were part of the reserve forces, rather than those carrying out routine security.

“Every weekend, we position the reserve forces [in different areas], depending on the threats,” Hagari said. “We will investigate this when we have the operational possibility.”

So you're making a conspiracy @Wedonttalkaboutboris about the IDF moving 2 of their reserve troops to the West Bank because of heightened tensions there? Certainly it was a mistake in hindsight but not what you are implying.

Google and western news media is censored. It doesn't mean that outside sources lack legitimacy.

But why should I trust a source I can't find any record of? I can't.

Twiglets1 · 18/08/2025 17:17

I've responded to the report that Boris linked (from Times of Israel).

ThatCyanSheep · 18/08/2025 17:17

This is absolutely shocking if true. I don’t want to speculate on why they may have ignored it, but wow.

I find things quite easily by using another search engine. In fact it's very surprising what you can find by moving laterally.

That's you though... we're all different. If you can find details about this organisation, who funds them?

Do you do as much of a deep dive into sources that write stories that support Israel?

I did also link this:

I’d actually never come across war on the rocks before but according to Media Bias/Fact Check, War on the Rocks is rated as Least Biased and High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing and a clean fact-check record.

Ad Fontes Media also rates War on the Rocks as Middle in bias and Reliable in reporting, with a focus on analysis and factual content.

Let me guess 🤔 hamas? 🙄

No but I was expressing lack of trust in this source and @smallglassbottle was suggesting it's legitimate and it's surprising what you can find out by moving laterally, (whatever that means).

So I assumed they had done a deep dive into this source so could tell me about the funding to give me more idea about this very mysterious source.

Twiglets1 · 18/08/2025 17:45

TheignT · 18/08/2025 17:47

Dangermoo · 18/08/2025 13:24

If they had any intention of releasing them, that would have been done, by now.once again, Hamas is being referred to, as if they are the reasonable party!

So who do you think should be more committed to the safety of the hostages? I'd think Netanyahu and if one of my children was a hostage Id hate that they don't seem to be his top priority.

ThatCyanSheep · 18/08/2025 17:48

smallglassbottle · 18/08/2025 17:45

So an entirely Israel funded news source is posting it. I can already predict the next step

Why do I need to guess? It's owned by Israelis. Are you saying it's illegitimate?

smallglassbottle · 18/08/2025 17:50

These are obviously hamas propaganda and I demand you remove them immediately! 😂

smallglassbottle · 18/08/2025 17:53

In fact, the border soldier will be a hamas operative so everything she says is bollocks.

smallglassbottle · 18/08/2025 17:48

I'm saying I don't know anything about it, I can't even Google it to get basic information. So how would I know if it's legitimate or not.

You were the one insisting it's easy to find such information by using a different search engine but won't answer a simple question about who funds them.

I've lost interest in the subject but it's clear you know nothing about the source either.
