Conflict in the Middle East

Why aren't women and children being evacuated from gaza?

AutumnFog · 24/07/2025 02:40

I've just seen horrific photos of starving children on a news article. Why on earth are we not evacuating them? The population isn't huge, if split between many countries the cost of supporting them would be minimal compared to other expenditure.
I don't understand how it's been left to get to this point without anyone intervening, or really how everyone hasn't intervened.
Who cares about the land at this point, these are children who are likely to die by the look of them, who could live a happy healthy life somewhere else.

See what Norman Finkelstein has said/written. His parents were actual Holocaust survivors. That could be a good starting point.

I'd also be aware of things he's said in the past before using him as an example.

The starving children thing has already been debunked. It’s Palestinian propaganda. They basically put children who have cancer in front of the camera and make them say things for the footage. I saw it on YouTube.

And where are the starving adults?

I think this is true it suits the propaganda look at what Israel has done propped up by the West.

I think the reality there’s millions of people displaced by war and starving by conflicts within the region before you even consider this war. I think people harden up to it. Egypt has been struggling with a massive refugee population for years, over a million from Sudan since 2023. A conflict that has generated many starving children that hardly anyone cares about.

Palestinian refugees are a seen as a poisoned chalice with their brotherly extremism and tendency to try towards takeovers. I mean if you were Jordan would you?

Good points. It's something that so many people seem to brush over when discussing this conflict because their hatred for anything Israeli is so strong now.
If Israel suddenly allowed all citizens to leave Gaza, many other countries, due to things that have occurred in the past, would not be keen to take refugees from there anyway.
I've not seen many mentions of what happened in places like Kuwait.
It's all very well people shouting at anyone who discusses these things saying that they don't care about children dying etc but it's so important to look at what has happened in this region for so many years and why it's really not as simple as just saying we need to stop all the killing immediately.
I want this awful situation to end ASAP but there needs to be discussions, as uncomfortable as they might be, as to why and how things have got to this place to start with.

You saw it on You Tube so it must be true right? Who was spreading the lies and misinformation?

You’ve have spent this entire thread spouting nonsense. Why should the Palestinians leave their own land? Just because Israel wants to turn it into some sun soaked tourist spot?

Your views are so warped and depressing but sadly not unheard of on this platform. Just for a moment have some empathy for those women and children who are being killed relentlessly for no reason. Being starved to death. I’m assuming you’re a mother. Imagine it was your child that you couldn’t help. Imagine your child was standing in a queue to get food and got killed for just being there.

Don’t believe the news outlets. Ignore speakers like Finkelstein or even politicians like Bernie Sanders who are shouting it from the rooftops.

What about the aid agencies? Look at what Save the Children, UNICEF and others are saying. They are neutral and aren’t politically motivated.

Enjoy your world where Israel can do no wrong, everyone is lying and the photos of starved children are fake.

Karma is a bitch.

Oh wouldn't you just like me to shut up? What you don't like and you're not on your own, is that I don't buy what you've been sold. You don't want to see anything other than Israel is evil. Everything you've quoted, which I raised, discredits the insular belief that nothing else is relevant in the conflict. I'm very annoyed that an extremely relevant post has been deleted, but I will be taking that up with MN. That's what you've resorted to, when you don't like the historical truth. The truth is very different to personal attacks, of which I am frequently on the receiving end. It's the way liberals roll.

Proud of that comment are you? Or does it just reveal that you are denying the reality of what is happening? Shameful. Maybe do a bit of research about the impact of malnutrition and who it effects first and why.

It isn't a competition! What didn't happen was people on here deny or belittle what happened to them and showed nothing but horror and empathy. Most rational thinking people don't like to see anyone suffering and don't deny the realty of what is happening

XXLfiles · 25/07/2025 07:57

I recently visited Jordan and they cannot (even if they were willing, understandably they are not) take more in. The situation in the area is dire. They are only just now starting to see movement of Syrians back to Syria. The north is fucked, the poverty is something many who never seen it cannot imagine properly.
The infrastructure in many areas is not keeping up.
"Why don't they take them? Don't they have heart?" is quite crass thinking about nation hosting millions of refugees to their own detriment if I am honest.
And anyone else has learned their own lessons before. No one wants to risk destabilising their country at the time when stability is needed and frankly, rare.

When you say it's not a competition, can you remember that when the numbers of fatalities are compared via IDF and Hamas. This happens regularly. Thanks.

It's the expected reactions from some posters. Deny the forced starvation and pick one or two words they can try to attack.

I'm well aware of how it works...I've read several books on famine.

We were told over a year ago that Gaza was on the brink of famine....how long can people, even healthy adults survive without food.... certainly not more than a year.

The starving children I've seen on the news have had underlying medical conditions...tragic of course.

nomoretoriesforme · 25/07/2025 08:01

I will be brutally honest why. Two reasons- non Caucasian ( considered less of a human for G7); not an ally ( no value for West). What we are seeing is a genocide

..and that explains non Caucasian jews being massacred, how? You're not being brutally honest, you're showing you have no knowledge.

Seriously you have read books on it? I prefer to listen to the expert doctors who have been reporting on this from Gaza Your comment was callous and minimising and also questioning the reality of what is happening however you would like to dress it up.

The starving children I've seen on the news have had underlying medical conditions.
How do you know that? and even if they are it shows the most vulnerable are dying and unless there is urgent action more will follow.

Happens regularly where? IDF and Hamas are in conflict and fatalities for both will be reported and compared to ascertain who has the upper hand. That is not the same as what you were doing

I saw a child on the news last night who was starving....they also had an underlying medical condition. Like I said, terrible. But we have been told for months and months that Gaza is on the brink of a famine..always on the brink....now I have no doubt there's not enough food. But months and months turning into years and not a single starving adult shown on any media that I've seen?

At the end of 2023 we were told they were hours away from running out of water...it's mid 2025 now...

You haven’t debunked shit. Children are being killed. I don’t care what religion they are. They are children and shouldn’t be killed while trying to wait in a line for food, at a concert or trying to sleep in a tent.

i can say names as well and in fact there’s a lot more than the ones you’ve quoted. 20,000 give or take. But in this instance I’ll just give one.

Hind Rajab killed and Israel denied it until the audio came out. The car she was traveling in was shot at 355 times.

I'm talking about when they are compared, on here, to score points. You can really keep trying to prove something with trying to shame me and other posters, but you won't be getting us to stop talking.

nomoretoriesforme · 25/07/2025 08:14

I see truth hurts, got your visceral reaction.. Israel is not in the same position as Gaza. You don’t see skeletal children in Israel and they are freely leaving the country if they want. Gaza is a concentration camp right now
