Facts:

  • At least 15,000 children have been killed since the war began in October 2023.
  • Many have died in airstrikes, building collapses, or stampedes at aid sites.
  • Thousands more have been injured, often with life-altering wounds, burns, or amputations.
  • Gaza is facing famine-like conditions.
  • Children are eating grass, leaves, or going days without food.
  • Severe malnutrition is widespread, especially in northern Gaza. Babies and toddlers are dying of hunger-related causes.
  • Nearly all children in Gaza are now considered to have signs of acute psychological trauma:
  • Nightmares
  • Bedwetting
  • Non-responsiveness (shutdown/dissociation)
  • Panic at loud sounds
  • Many have lost one or both parents, siblings, or entire families.
  • Most hospitals have been bombed or shut down.
  • Children can’t access basic care, vaccines, or treatment for chronic illnesses.
  • Wounded kids are operated on without anesthesia in some cases.
  • Over 1 million children have been displaced—many multiple times.
  • Families sleep in tents, rubble, or outdoors with no clean water or toilets.
  • Nearly all schools have been shut down, destroyed, or turned into shelters.
  • Many teachers and schoolchildren have been killed.
  • A whole generation risks growing up with no access to education or safety.
  • Children are drinking dirty water, leading to diarrheal diseases and infections.
  • Outbreaks of hepatitis, lice, and scabies are widespread.
  • Even in declared “safe zones” or aid areas, children have been shot, suffocated in stampedes, or killed by nearby strikes.
  • Some have died while queuing for water or food.

“There is no safe place left for children in Gaza. They are being killed, starved, maimed, and psychologically shattered. This is not a humanitarian crisis—this is a crisis of humanity.”
— Save the Children, July 2025

My instagram is filling up with starving babies. I feel helpless. There’s not even a charity you can donate to as aid isn’t getting there.

Even doctors and surgeons that are going there are having baby formula, that they have brought, confiscated. Why?

The situation with baby formula is critical and I have also read about an American Doctors having it taken off them when they try to enter. They are trying to bring formula and high calorie food now instead of medical supplies.
Situation is even more critical for those who require specialist formula

112 children are being admitted daily to hospital for malnutrition.

Yes, there is no excuse to deny access to baby formula unless you are trying to starve babies. This is the kind of evidence that will inform the case for genocide

Hamas are shameful. How do we bring them to justice?

Hamas sn't preventing babies from having formula. Israel is.

Hollyhobbi · 19/07/2025 21:46

One of the ladies in our office has just been away on a break to Poland. They visited Auschwitz. When she had finished telling us about it she said she wondered if in 80 years time our great grandchildren would be visiting Gaza after their genocide?

Do you have empathy for the civilians killed on 7/10?

What Israel is doing has gone far beyond any justifiable response to October 7. The world is watching as the Israeli government starve innocent babies and children, massacre people queuing for aid and collectively punish an entire population.

The sheer cruelty of it is horrifying. Whats even more shocking is the cold indifference shown by people like you.

If it wasn't so hideous, the mental gymnastics used to justify these actions would be laughable.

Just wondered if you can bring yourself to say 7/10 was horrific?

Since we are talking about empathy.

Was there ever a proposal that Israel was asked to facilitate? Is it normal that the victim of an act of war (7 oct) would be expected to evacuate the civilian population of an aggressor?

Israel is the aggressor, not Palestine. October 7th was not the start of this conflict, Israel was illegally occupying Palestine at the time of the October 7th attack.

And Israel slaughtering thousands of children is not a proportionate or acceptable response.

Twiglets1 · 20/07/2025 08:49

@Htgold3 It is not turning a blind eye to babies suffering in the horrific war in Gaza to suggest that people should show empathy for both the civilians of Gaza and for the Israeli citizens who suffered & died in the terrorist attacks on October 7th.

A bit more balance would be beneficial to these threads and more of an acknowledgment of the role Hamas play too in the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. To try to put all the blame on Israel is just wrong. There would be no humanitarian crisis without 7/10.

I agree that the response from Israel has become disproportionate though.

BorgQueen · 20/07/2025 08:52

Why is it whenever you see videos from actually inside Gaza, the people look very well fed with clean clothes? There is daily footage of markets with lots of food, including pilfered UN rations for sale and daily footage of huge Israei lorries full of food going in.
If babies are starving, it’s due to Hamas keeping all the food for themselves and their followers.

Redwindow · 20/07/2025 09:03

@BorgQueen You’re having a sick laugh. What TF are you talking about? I watch all mainstream news programmes in the UK and have never seen this.

so sick of seeing this if it wasn’t for October 7th this wouldn’t be happening lwheeled out.it is a look what you made me do line
Israel bombed Gaza many times before October 7th each time killing large amounts of women and children and leaving even larger numbers traumatised. Israel has been systematically breaching Palestinians human rights for decades, interning even children without trial, etc etc etc
when Palestinians held peaceful protests in 2018 they were shot

Gaza border protests: 190 killed and 28,000 injured in a year of bloodshed

Almost 29,000 Palestinians have been injured over the last 12 months and more than 190 killed. Using UN data we explore who has been affected, how they were injured and what life is like in Gaza today

No heart detected Borg
all I see in Gaza is rubble, and people queuing desperately risking being sniped for whatever paltry sliver of aid has been allowed in that day

Palestine has also attacked Israel several times before October 7th.

You must know this?

Everexpanding · 20/07/2025 10:27

Yes I do but don’t think collective punishment and the indiscriminate killing/ longtime persecution of Palestinian civilians is a justifiable response

No one is trying to shift the entire blame onto Hamas that I am aware of.

Personally I just think the hate towards Israel does not often acknowledge that the children being killed or lacking food etc are the victims of both Hamas & Israel. It’s the fact that some people only want to blame Israel that makes their views seem biased.

I acknowledge that you have expressed that you believe them to be victims of both Hamas & Israel above so thank you for that.

So why do you just focus on the fact that Israel have attacked Gaza before October 7th rather than say both sides have a history of attacking one another?

This is why I think we should stick to the current war rather than bringing previous attacks into it - because both sides have been attacking the other one for what seems like forever and we could argue forever about who the land belongs to more.

Hamas would do that if they could wouldn't they?

Everexpanding · 20/07/2025 11:49

And Israel’s use of genocidal methods such as the starvation of a civilian population. There is no justification for Israel’s current actions

Twiglets1 · 20/07/2025 11:49

You have to admit @Everexpanding Hamas do what they can to kill Israeli people on a large scale, it's just they aren't very effective because of the Iron Dome.
