Facts:

  • At least 15,000 children have been killed since the war began in October 2023.
  • Many have died in airstrikes, building collapses, or stampedes at aid sites.
  • Thousands more have been injured, often with life-altering wounds, burns, or amputations.
  • Gaza is facing famine-like conditions.
  • Children are eating grass, leaves, or going days without food.
  • Severe malnutrition is widespread, especially in northern Gaza. Babies and toddlers are dying of hunger-related causes.
  • Nearly all children in Gaza are now considered to have signs of acute psychological trauma:
  • Nightmares
  • Bedwetting
  • Non-responsiveness (shutdown/dissociation)
  • Panic at loud sounds
  • Many have lost one or both parents, siblings, or entire families.
  • Most hospitals have been bombed or shut down.
  • Children can’t access basic care, vaccines, or treatment for chronic illnesses.
  • Wounded kids are operated on without anesthesia in some cases.
  • Over 1 million children have been displaced—many multiple times.
  • Families sleep in tents, rubble, or outdoors with no clean water or toilets.
  • Nearly all schools have been shut down, destroyed, or turned into shelters.
  • Many teachers and schoolchildren have been killed.
  • A whole generation risks growing up with no access to education or safety.
  • Children are drinking dirty water, leading to diarrheal diseases and infections.
  • Outbreaks of hepatitis, lice, and scabies are widespread.
  • Even in declared “safe zones” or aid areas, children have been shot, suffocated in stampedes, or killed by nearby strikes.
  • Some have died while queuing for water or food.

“There is no safe place left for children in Gaza. They are being killed, starved, maimed, and psychologically shattered. This is not a humanitarian crisis—this is a crisis of humanity.”
— Save the Children, July 2025

I guess we have a different interpretation of empathy.

Do you have empathy for the civilians killed on 7/10?

ComeAsYouAreAsAFriend · 19/07/2025 19:59

No but they controlled the border so no one else could (despite many countries working to get injured children out) are you being intentionally obtuse?

I'm referring to situations like this

https://www.npr.org/2024/07/30/nx-s1-5055896/israel-has-delayed-the-evacuation-of-sick-children-in-gaza

So Israel has evacuated sick children. They were attacked by Hezbollah and you are blaming Israel not Hezbollah? And Of course some else could have put forward a proposal and there be a unified response to this catastrophe. Why is there no condemnation of other countries in the region? Egypt also controls part of the border. Why no condemnation for them?

Redwindow · 19/07/2025 18:51

Agree. And it’s not anti Semitic to say this. They have the blood of these children on their hands.

Heartbreaking beyond comprehension

I couldn’t agree with you more. I find it shocking that the rest of the world has sat back and condoned this for almost two years now.

No idea why evacuating sick children from Gaza had anything to do with Hezbollah!!! I was just highlighting how the Israeli government have complete control over who leaves.

Israel as an occupier under International humanitarian law, has a responsibility to protect the civilian population, provide for their humanitarian needs so comparing it to other conflict situations is inaccurate. Other countries have taken injured civilians for treatment but the piece you keep missing is that Israel controls all of this and countries have to negotiate with Israel to do this.

Ailing kids wait months for Israeli permission to leave Gaza for treatment. Some die in the meantime

UNICEF estimates that 2,500 ailing children need immediate evacuation from Gaza for treatment abroad.

Once again, BBC headline is dozens of people, children, murdered as they queue up for aid, by Israeli forces.

The whole world is watching what is going on.

Supporters of the Israeli government need to know this will never be forgotten. These are the most appalling scenes imaginable and we can all see exactly what is going on here.

Yes

Lonelycrab · 19/07/2025 20:33

Pretty obvious by now the Israeli government’s intentions are to completely level Gaza, force its citizens to god knows where (or kill them)

And then steal their land.

And do it in the West Bank too. Take the lot.

This is the modus operandi of the Israeli govt, and its supporters who try and shim shimmy out of this obvious truth. They assume people are actually more stupid than they are, yet they carry on with a faux intellectual superiority that is neither true or accurate. HaMAS MaDe Me DoIT or something

Its really not washing, chumps; the world can see and will judge you accordingly.

Am a completely no skin in the game British guy who doesn’t believe in superior fucking sky fairies like a load of you suckers do.

But let’s tell it how it is, eh

Ahh, haven’t you heard? Hamas is in the West Bank, too. Of course they have to pillage and pilfer the land and murder it’s people to ‘feel safe’.

And how hard are they doing that? Where is the regional peace plan that releases the hostages and acknowledges Israel's need for security? Or do you just expect them to let all Palestinians into Israel?

Are you really so uneducated about the situation that you need us to explain why there is less (but not no) international pressure on Egypt about their border?

No. I didn't say that did I? I'm talking about Israel's control over evacuation of sick children for treatment to other countries (not Israel).

Why are Israeli troops firing on and killing civilians in Gaza who are waiting for food and aid? This is indefensible. It’s happening every day and has happened again today.

The poorest hungriest most vulnerable people including children are being shot at. This is what I see.

People are still defending and supporting these actions as we can see on this thread.

I would say it’s mind boggling, but it’s actually quite revealing as to how these horrific actions can take place in the first place. History has taken us here before sadly more than once.

Essentially all humanity has broken down in these people.

Redwindow · 19/07/2025 20:56

In the past people genuinely didn’t know what was happening or know the extent of it or have an overview. We can’t claim this. We can see it.

Babyboomtastic · 19/07/2025 21:01

One sec, so...

  1. the Gazans children should have been evacuated.
  2. but Israel controls the borders so they couldn't go (and would never let them return in any event)
  3. but we shouldn't criticise Israel for not evacuating the kids because look, they have evacuated some kids
  4. oh you mean the few kids that it took months to organise, showing that no one can evacuate without Israel's say so anyway.
  5. how can you expect Israel to facilitate them leaving...

It's bonkersly circular, it makes no sense.
If you lock someone in a building, you can't then blame them for not leaving. If you hold the only key to the building, you can't complain at being asked to facilitate them leaving. Don't be the key holder in that case.

Everexpanding · 19/07/2025 21:01

Redwindow · 19/07/2025 21:03

And don’t drop bombs on this building in which you’ve trapped people.

Echobelly · 19/07/2025 21:09

@Lonelycrab - I'm Jewish and agree with a lot of what you say, but I feel it important to correct you that this actually isn't much to do with belief in God. Sure, Netanyahu and his ilk will bring it up sometimes because it appeals to their American Christian support base, but they're just as irreligious as most Israelis. Obviously religion does too often get called on to justify atrocities generally, I'm not here to let it off the hook, but it doesn't play that much into the motivations of Israel, though they may try to use it as a justification of some sort.

But yes, the murder of innocent children is unforgivable, forced starvation is unforgivable. I don't understand how anyone can think this will be looked back on with anything but revulsion, or that anyone would think this was justified even in response October 7th. Precious few of the dead had any blame for that. One of the reasons I joined the Gaza march in London today.

Changerj · 19/07/2025 21:14

My instagram is filling up with starving babies. I feel helpless. There’s not even a charity you can donate to as aid isn’t getting there.

Even doctors and surgeons that are going there are having baby formula, that they have brought, confiscated. Why?

Lonelycrab · 19/07/2025 21:17

@Echobelly I don’t mean in any way to offend with my opinions towards anyone’s faith. I agree that often these things are hijacked by those in power (Trump the Christian lol) to further their own ends with little regard to the true meaning of their chosen faith.

But this is beyond abhorrent now, and anyone standing for these actions we all see is, imo a lost soul, and has no place in religion of any sort. This has become horrific.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 19/07/2025 21:19

Hamas are shameful. How do we bring them to justice?
