Many of you will already have read about this. Paediatric specialist Dr Alaa al-Najjar was on duty when the bodies of nine of her 10 children were received by her in the hospital, after a strike in Khan Younis hit her home.

This report just stopped me in my tracks. I don't know what to say beyond this. I cannot stop thinking about this poor woman tonight.

er children killed by a strike in Khan Younis. Guardian link

We are 27 pages into this thread and there's one poster who throughout the entire thread has tried to lay the blame of the murder of these children on anyone except for the IDF who carried out the murders. Fucking hell.

Or said it didn't happen at all.

Fuckin hell is right.

Stripes56 · 07/06/2025 19:18

I think somebody needs to come of SM for a bit or look up some photos of fluffy kittens. It must really twist your idea of what is acceptable.

It's despicable and an absolutely shitty thing to do on a thread mourning this loss of innocent life. Some people have lost their fucking minds whilst trying to defend every single actions of the IDF.

I don’t know and nor do you.

Look it up, interviews with international doctors who worked with the doctors, video, photos. Yes it is verified, yes the IDF killed them. Honestly what are you trying to suggest. I have also not heard Israel deny it. When Adam, the only survivor, makes it to Italy for treatment what will you say then?

Nine of Gazan doctor's 10 children killed in Israeli strike on Khan Younis

Graphic footage shared by the Hamas-run Palestinian Civil Defence shows the bodies of small children being pulled from rubble in southern Gaza.

I think the poster is saying despicable ludicrous things to elicit an angry response, likely to try and get people thrown off the boards or simply to cause upset - who knows.

Whatsinanamehey · 07/06/2025 19:23

It's just gaslighting and more gaslighting. Not even some of the pro Israel extremists on X have gone so far to deny it.

Yes, I hadn't read this thread for the last couple of days and when I read it now that was what came to mind too.

Whatsinanamehey · 07/06/2025 19:28

When the IDF shot at the civilians trying to recieve aid they did the same thing then. It was apparently all lies or the Palestinians are just trying to demonise the IDF because why would those fluffy bunnies attack civilians. Once the IDF admitted it was them then suddenly crickets.

I think so too. As I said before the thread on the murdered Palestinian film maker was enlightening for me . It was a complete deflection and then the thread was pulled.
The goal is clear here.

@RandomWordsThrownTogether
Thank you for the link. I hope Adam gets the support he needs.
On latest Rest is Politics UK podcast- someone asked what we can do to help people in Gaza. Alistair Campbell referred to a quote made by Jucinda Ardern to Donald Trump after the Christchurch massacre about how he might be able help. She told him to be kind to his Muslim communities.

It made me think about how much Muslims around the world must have been suffering too seeing members of their community being slaughtered. It is also something that is so difficult to talk about openly.

The armed wing of Hamas, Izz al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, has issued a stark warning regarding the safety of Israeli prisoner Matan Zangauker, who is being held in a location besieged by Israeli forces.
In a statement released on Saturday, Abu Obaida, the spokesperson for the Brigades, said Israeli forces are currently surrounding the location where Zangauker is being held in Gaza.
He said that any attempt to retrieve the prisoner alive would fail, placing the blame squarely on the Israeli military.
Abu Obaida asserted that Hamas had preserved Zangauker’s life for more than a year and eight months. “The enemy will not be able to recover him alive,” he said.
The warning comes amid heightened tensions in the region, as Israeli forces are reportedly conducting operations in Gaza. The Al-Qassam Brigades concluded their message with the phrase, “He who warns is excused,” suggesting that they have fulfilled their moral obligation by issuing this alert.

From Islamic Republic News Agency.

How on earth have we got to the stage where we are now having individual stand offs?
Surely anyone with any sense and or humanity would just stop going in and start talking.

Imagine if someone posted that the Bibas children’s parents were responsible for their kids murder because they decided to live too close to Gaza? We would be appalled.
The children’s uncle Ali explained the context of how it unfolded. Communications are really bad- it was 3 weeks since they had managed to get a phone call in real time, video calls are even worse, voice notes are better. When someone gets an update, it’s relayed all over the world to the various siblings.
There’s another sister in Gaza and one in Vancouver and of course the one in Sligo, Dr Ali and there’s another brother in Saudi. So Ali was over in Saudi on a break visiting the brother and they werein the in-laws place. He was sitting next to his brother and the brother was trawling the internet to see what was going on, where had been hit, could he get any news. . At this stage people are saying goodbye for ever when ever they part, so many people are being killed, his sister says it’s like doomsday everyday.
They were really worried, they knew about the strikes and they had tried every way they could and hadn’t been able to contact Alaa and her husband, Hamdi . They were trawling the internet, clip or posts The brother was looking at a clip that the civil defence rescuers had posted. They were really worried but they couldn’t figure out the location as it was just a massive pile of rubble. Then Ali hears a voice he know well- it’s the brother of his brother-in-law Hamdi, Ali Yahya, screaming “Get back, get back”. Then he hears the choked voice in the background of his sister who knows that it’s one of the kids crying “ my darling, my love” in Arabic. They know the family’s house has been hit and that these must be the bodies of their little nieces and nephews that they were just chatting to a few weeks ago. Hamid and little Adam are transported to the hospital separately and Adam is the first to arrive,
Horrified, Ali and the family watch an another video clip- Adam is covered in ash, his hand almost falling off. At first Ali isn’t completely sure it’s Adam because he’s covered in ash, but he recognises the features. He’s still hoping against hope that it’s not Adam but his heart sinks as he sees a relative of theirs is accompanying the child and he now he knows for certain that it’s his nephew, 11 year old Adam. Hamdi is also brought to hospital soon after but rushed to theatre, with multiple injuries.
Alaa’s cousin told the brothers that with the family’s home being 4 stories, they were using the basement as a bomb shelter and were actually ready to evacuate- they’d moved their stuff closer to ground level for quick evacuation The first bomb didn’t explode so they had come up and then were bombed again.
Alaa has lost her phone and is using a cousins phone . She has a sister as well in Gaza but it’s hard to move about.
She has asked for nothing except prayers and the return of her children’s bodies.

How disgusting.

It’s almost as if they think they’ve done him a favour ‘preserving his life’.

And you agree with them and would blame Israel if they carry out their threat to kill him?

Poor family - the horror and helplessness to see your loved ones suffer from abroad and there is nothing you can do.

How do you think the Jewish community felt around the world after Oct 7th, the Israeli community feel about, and are still having to, sending their sons and daughters, husbands and wives into a dirty war, the world wide Jewish community feel about marches in support of Hamas, tearing down of hostage posters, students being intimidated at University, rampant anti-semitism and threats to their lives, including being gunned down and set on fire with Molotov cocktails, btw?

Stripes56 · 07/06/2025 23:05

This mother’s suffering was making me think of the difficulties mothers in Gaza have faced in pregnancy, delivery and then feeding and keeping their children safe.

It’s appalling that on mumsnet there are posters who appear to minimise a mother’s suffering and inappropriately use this thread.

Very sad story although this leaps out:

Alaa’s cousin told the brothers that with the family’s home being 4 stories, they were using the basement as a bomb shelter and were actually ready to evacuate- they’d moved their stuff closer to ground level for quick evacuation The first bomb didn’t explode so they had come up and then were bombed again.

Wasn't it reported that the father had driven the mother to work and came home to find his home on fire?

Were there any other casualties or did the rest of the civilians in the area evacuate? They were given notice a month and then a week before iirc?
