Whatever you think about Hamas - October 7th was an abomination - but surely it's been enough for some time now?

UK suspends Israel trade talks and summons ambassador over 'intolerable' Gaza offensive

Foreign Secretary David Lammy says Israel's war in Gaza is entering a "dark new phase".

Have they released all the hostages yet?

Bore off.

Thelostjewels · 20/05/2025 20:09

Well asking about the hostages is a valid question?
Israel has maintained if they are returned it will stop.

I think the entire thing is repulsive from both sides and I wished that instead of this scorched earth policy they had been much more clever re hammas.

I don't know how but basically something like come to our side and have free and fair elections and we will plough money in and help you but hammas has to go but done in a peaceable way.

I saw a hammas leader on TV over the weekend and he looked like the most bloated arrogant arse hole dictator.

But a start would be to hand back the hostages.
They don't have any power hammas is vile and netenyahu is equally disgusting and needs to go.

What I've never understood is why other Muslim countries in the region don't help more I know Jordan does but the richer ones and ejgpt

Have they released all the hostages yet?

Have they released all the people they’re illegally holding in prison without representation or trial yet?

AnnaBalfour · 20/05/2025 20:13

Governments are complicit in this genocide. It’s too little too late but at least he’s saying something now and calling it like it is.

The world has shown a blind eye for fear of the usual argument “oh that means you’re pro Hamas and anti semitic” 🙄

OhCalmTheFuckDownMargaret · 20/05/2025 20:15

@Thelostjewels

Israel has not maintained the war will stop if the hostages are released. Why do you think nothing Isreal has done so far has secured their release? Because Hamas know it is never going to stop that’s why they won’t release them. Israel has maintained the hostages are not a primary goal. Turning Gaza to dust and making it unlivable is the primary goal.

Miri13 · 20/05/2025 20:16

Go give your head a wobble. It’s cruelty and nothing you spout will change that.

AnnaBalfour · 20/05/2025 20:16

@Thelostjewels

you’re falling into the argument that it is somehow the fault of innocent bystanders because of Hamas

Hanas are terrorists

Hamas are evil but it’s just an excuse to wipe out innocent Palestinians at this point by a ‘democratic’ powerful country

SummerIce · 20/05/2025 20:18

No they haven’t. Israel’s intentions are to control Gaza. Which we all know means to slowly fill it with settlers.

FrostyFig · 20/05/2025 19:59

I cant understand why UK France and Canada have waited until now to speak out, and they are still selling them weapons Could there be a reason we don't even know about yet? Like the IDF have done something unthinkable, and when it comes out we might be complicit in a war crime or something? It feels off.

Because as much as people have tried to justify indiscriminate bombing is necessary to eradicate Hamas and the death of innocent Palestinians is a consequence of war (have a look at the ME board where that view is repeatedly argued), starving an entire population stoops to a whole new level that no one with a conscious can justify.

NeedAnyHelpWithThatPaperBag · 20/05/2025 20:27

Israel clearly has some sort of hold over many countries which is preventing them from responding as they would to the same scenario with different participants?

Yeah it's awful. I can barely look at some of the pictures. What I'm trying to say is why now when it's been so horrible for so long. It feels like they need to cover their arses for something coming down the tracks thats even worse.

It's more that their best mate is the U.S. The rest of the world don't want to upset them 🙄

ohfourfoxache · 20/05/2025 20:58

How will the world react if worse is revealed down the line?

Thelostjewels · 20/05/2025 20:59

@AnnaBalfour I try and stay off these threads because they are so emotive but I'm surprised that's the one line you've taken from my post.
I said much more.. Why doesn't hammas call Israel bluff then? Give back the hostages not dead? That wouid really expose Israel wouidnt it if they carried on.
I completely understand the people of gaza expect the hammas support are innocent which is why I said... What I said. Which you ignored.

Thelostjewels · 20/05/2025 21:04

Well missy it's so emotive isn't it and all tied in with the world wars and persecution etc.
I remember seeing a program once about rumours that children in Saudi where taught nasty things about Jewish people?
Imagine making the whole region religion free!! Liberating everyone and putting religion to the side like we have done in the west.

Live not by lies, read or YouTube some Douglas Murray. The atrocities committed by Hammas on Oct 7th, including raping, while box cutting off breasts, shooting in vaginas, then celebrating and videoing and calling home whilst killing to show their families. Where would you rather live as a woman, Israel or Hammas, who do you think treats women with dig and respect? I’m sick of these pro Palestine deluded/indoctrinated nuts bent on death death death, what have they done for Palestine, nothing, the opposite. Educate yourself.

How many of the children did that @Allthebestgone ?

Your dehumanising attitude genuinely terrified me. The Israeli government is just as bad as the terrorists. Actually worse, as they have done more damage.

I think it's embarrassing to threaten Israel when he's got fuck all leverage.

He has more leverage than most people. Britain is the third largest arms supplier to Israel after the US and Germany. He could stop selling them guns and bombs. He could stop using the RAF to fly reconnaissance missions to tell the Israelis which tents to bomb. He could stop British citizens from going to fight with the IDF terrorists.

So what action do you think Israel should have taken after Oct 7th? To get their hostages back, to dismantle Hamas so they couldn’t carry out further attacks or do you think they should have continued governing Gaza?

I’m very interested in your actual opinion after you stated that Israel shouldn’t have targeted Hamas so please don’t answer with ‘not what they’re doing’ as that is not an answer.

Also not specific to Israel but what do you think any other government would have done after a mass terrorist attack and hostage taking event like Oct 7th?

ohfourfoxache · 20/05/2025 21:22

If recurrent Israeli governments had treated Palestinians better then Hamas wouldn’t have taken hold in the way they did

It’s the same with all extremist groups. We never learn and are too intent on treating others who are slightly different to us like shit

Anotherparkingthread · 20/05/2025 21:23

I feel all the people defending Israel would be the exact same type people who would have defended the building of concentration camps and gas chambers.

Some people enjoy the idea of genocide genocide because they believe they will never be effected by it and it could never happen to them. It makes a nasty kind of hate run through them, where they want to see a group of people harmed or punished en mas, for the perceived crimes of a few.

This is true hate, it's beyond even racism or being ablest, because they not only condones the actions but also enjoy the suffering of others.

I'm sure this will be countered by many people suggesting that Palestine has also committed crimes. Frankly, looking at the numbers, they pale in comparison. Palestine is not capable of starving an entire generation of children. They don't have advanced weapons. They are not levelling buildings with families inside.

This kind of killing, is the equivalent of a man being found guilty of a crime, and in retaliation we kill his neighbours, then starve his wife and child to death. As much as bad people exist in Palestine the majority are simply just trying to live their lives. It's easy to see why the Palestinians would have hatred towards Israelis after everything that has happened. Nothing in the world will create more anti Israeli feelings and radicalise more young men than the indescriminate slaughter of thousands of people.

Cites Douglas Murray... tells others to "educate" themselves.

😂😂😂😂

BreezyBertha · 20/05/2025 21:26

Hamas’s military wing alone was believed to have 30,000 fighters in Gaza before Oct 7th. That doesn’t include all the Hamas run ministries, police, etc.

Also let’s not forget that thousands of Gazan civilians took part in the atrocities of Oct 7th, the rapes, the kidnappings and the holding of the hostages.

Israel would have used their tech to identify every one of them.

See I think this is the most important comment that's often missed out on.

For years Israel has controlled every aspect of Palestinians lives. They created generations of Hamas by killing their parents, humiliating their fathers and reducing their opportunities.

Now I would never condone the disgusting actions of October 7th but as you said, we never learn and are then surprised when the oppressed rise up .
