They put their picture in front of one of Netanyahu as a vampire. Interviewed their kidnappers. Played music and cheered. Deliberately gave the wrong coffin keys to the Red Cross.
I can't get my head around this at all.

I am now aware of why the thread title was changed. My wording was clumsy and not as sensitive as it could have been. My apologies and thanks for amending.

Not the dignified return of bodies of peaceful people you would hope for.

With this shower of shit, it's progress they didn't booby trap the coffins.

RominaDina · 20/02/2025 10:43

Isn't it a crime against humanity? Shouldn't this go to the International Criminal Court?

My apologies for the confusion. I quite understand why you want to be sure to distinguish yourself from the sort of subhuman piece of shit who'd whatabout this.

Shiri, Ariel and Kfir Bibas.
Oded Lifschitz.
They will not be forgotten.
A mother trying to protect her children.
A man who was a peace activist.
I hope their families feel the sorrow and support for them from strangers across the world.

I really do. Like I said in my first post, I have a boy who I think is a similar age to what the youngest in that poor family would be now. I read the story minutes after I put him to bed and it hit me like a train.

Just awful, beyond words. No words can really capture the horror of it all.

Moving footage from Israel right now - a dignified police convoy is driving the remains of the hostages to the Abu Kabir forensic institute, and at every road junction, notwithstanding the wind and rain today, large lines of people are standing silently holding flags; drivers have stopped their cars to get out and stand with heads bowed.

From me too

I shed tears for you, for those hurting hugely from this

Oh my that is powerful. United in love and respect for a wonderful family and peace loving elderly man brought home.

So heartbreaking 💔

I am not going to comment on any of the politics around the current situation in Gaza on this thread as I am not sure its the place
Whatever your opinion on who is right/wrong or who started it this is absolutely awful and I hope the family at least get some closure

EsmaCannonball · 20/02/2025 10:57

I can't help but wonder if there will be another cruel mind game, e.g. the coffins being empty or the remains having been cremated.

I've seen a video online of Ariel being introduced to his baby brother for the first time and it is now so heartbreaking.

Let's not forget that it looked to be Palestinian civilians who kidnapped this family. The mob probably killed them straight away.

There will be a forensic examination so it's probably best not to speculate.

EsmaCannonball · 20/02/2025 11:02

I would also add that in the midst of a 'genocide' and 'ethnic cleansing' Hamas seems to have impressive access to printing services.

Disgusting comment based on nothing.

The tragedy does not need to be elevated by such speculative nonsense, especially today.

It's this kind of combative language that will ensure the suffering on both sides continue.

The coffins were x-rayed before the ceremony began (the chief rabbi of the army read mourning prayers before they returned to Israel) in order to check there were no tricks or booby traps, so I imagine that things at least appeared to be in order. However much Hamas are sadistic and cruel, I don't think they want to torpedo the continuation of the deal.

It’s the fact that this had to be done though - that it was within the realm of possibility they would booby trap the coffins of toddlers they murdered - that tells you everything you need to know about Hamas though. Utter scum.

It's based on a video of a terrified mother and her very young children being kidnapped by an angry mob.

Much as they seem to have been enjoying a well-fed easy life in their tunnels, hiding behind their own civilian children, I very much doubt that Hamas are having a good scroll through Mumsnet.

EsmaCannonball I'm sure you understand my point.
It creates a combative narrative on this platform and across others that continues to drive the divide.

It sickens my heart to think what this family and others have been through.

But to have sympathy for both sides does not make one an apologist.
Which I think these threads always descend into.

It's been horrific from everyone's perspective.

drivinmecrazy · 20/02/2025 11:28

As Icanthinkformyselfthanks has just proved.

An eye for an eye?

Is that really the solution?
