My mistake. They say they will release bodies of mother and children on Thursday but don't confirm identify of them.

"It is clearest indication that the Bibas children – who were just nine months and four years old, respectively, when they were kidnapped in October 2023 – are indeed dead."

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office confirmed on Tuesday that an agreement had been reached during negotiations in Cairo for “four slain hostages” to be handed over on Thursday and “six living hostages” to be released on Saturday.

I posted this recently on the "Hostages" thread. (From The Telegraph, but also featuring on other outlets I understand)

Online news is advising that "Hamas will be releasing the bodies of two small children and their mother".

Those bleak words, dashing the hope so many of has had for a different outcome.

I started a new thread because not everyone reads all the threads. I avoid quite a few on CITME section.

The poor family, heartbreaking news hearing this.

My family's hearts are with Yarden and his family. I hope they'll be home soon, safe to rest in their homeland again.

Absolute scum

SummerFeverVenice · 18/02/2025 18:41

Hamas had told the world they’d been killed in an Israeli airstrike in November 2023. It was thought Hamas were lying as psychological torture propaganda, but I suppose they weren’t lying after all about them dying. It’s absolutely tragic when children are killed.

They kept them as bargaining chips and to cause psychological and emotional damage.

It’s what they do.

Please don't compare the keeping of hostages taken from Israel to that of a failed terrorist as in your first example.

"Since 2016, Israeli authorities have held Abed’s corpse in postmortem detention after Abed orchestrated a bus bombing in Jerusalem" that's the first link. He dead after carrying out a bys bombing. Good grief, have you no understanding of the vast difference of a adult male terrorist to a family taken hostage.

That’s awful.
I read that Hamas don’t like children as hostages and are far more likely to be violent with them because they cry and make noise when hungry, frightened and distressed.
Adults can control their emotions more.

Crying Children can give away hostage location-

It’s so very barbaric-

Both sides have done terrible cruelties to each other, and just cannot see an end to it.

VolcanoJapan · 18/02/2025 18:54

Your second example "The body of 21-year-old Anas Hammad was also returned last week. Israeli troops shot and killed him after he rammed his car into soldiers patrolling his West Bank town of Silwad, near Ramallah. Several Israeli soldiers were wounded."

Seriously can you start a thread about terrorist bodies buried or held on morgue and not share terrorist stories on this thread!

Will anyone know the real truth?
It’s tragic that civilians are embroiled in this never ending war between Israel and Palestine.

Considering one of the released female hostages was forced to participate in a hostage video that showed her to be dead - also due to “Israeli air strikes” - you can pretty much guarantee anything Hamas says is a lie.

BooToYouHalloween · 18/02/2025 18:57

I will report anyone who comes on this thread and tries to equivocate or turn this into a debate about the wider conflict. Show some bloody respect.

Returni · 18/02/2025 19:01

You can’t control how the thread goes. That’s not how a forum works.

This may be too clinical for this thread, but hopefully there will be enough for a forensic pathologist to determine cause of death and answer these questions. It must be hell to not know how they died and the hope is it was instantaneous with no suffering. If it was in November 2023, then at least they didn’t suffer 15 months of torture. I know that’s a pitiful consolation but if it were my kids I’d want to know everything I could and have them back with me to bury and grieve.
