The brutal truth of the war in Gaza.

"To find safety from Gaza, you need first to become the victim of a catastrophic injury and then be lucky enough to be identified, selected and extracted.
That's one of the many brutal truths from this long war."

This article is certainly an eye opening read on the failures of those governments who support Israel in their campaign of cruelty. It's very rare for Israel to allow even injured children with multiple limb amputations, to leave Gaza for treatment. I have read previously that despite all the difficult work to organise an evacuation.. in the last minute Israel will just refuse it with no explanation given.

It isn't enough that they torture and murder health care staff, they bomb hospitals, the routinely block medical aid, they constantly bomb residential blocks and safe zones. After all of that only a select few are given permission to leave this living nightmare.

How the lives of the few child amputees allowed to leave Gaza are being rebuilt elsewhere

Sky News' US correspondent Mark Stone has followed the stories of some of the few Palestinians who have left Gaza for medical care.

@DonnaHadDee thank you I see your point - but I don't agree it is a "silly question". The poster's motivation was to distract and deflect from the point of the original post which was highlighting what Gazans are going through, via the tactic of whataboutery (a common tactic on these boards). I was simply highlighting this via my questioning. They are more than welcome to go start their own thread, and by asking why others have not done so (when they have themselves not either) on a thread about Palestinian suffering, are highlighting their own inherent agenda.

Thank you OP for posting.

In the spirit of Christmas, we should be thinking of what we can do for the wounded children many of whom will die if they are not evacuated. Many already have. We should be fighting for them to have the gift of life, the gift of hope, the gift of safety and security.

”Goodwill to all men” isn’t meant to be weaponised to mean don’t mention the horrible truth of what is happening to children trapped in Gaza in case it is upsetting.

I have a monthly donation to Heal Palestine. It is one of the US charities that funds the medical evacuation of wounded children to Egypt and the US for medical care. They also fund food and medical humanitarian aid to the strip. It’s worth a look if anyone is looking to give a gift to children in need for Christmas.

@SpiritAdder that is a beautiful gesture, thank you for recommending. I will definitely take a look. Flowers

This is the sermon by Rev. Munther Isaac of the Lutheran Church in Bethlehem, West Bank, Palestine given this past Sunday.
https://www.indcatholicnews.com/news/51360 (for full text)

“Dear friends, it is indeed painful that we live in a time when a genocide is committed before the eyes of the world, and we feel powerless to stop it. Today, as we gather around "Christ in the Rubble", we remember the children of Gaza, the children of Bethlehem before them, and many others around the world who have fallen victim to the tyranny of Herod and his modern-day counterparts. The Massacre of innocents.”

Palestinian Christian, Rev Dr Munther Isaac, gave the following Christmas message to the world today, at a peace service in the Evangelical Lutheran Christmas Church in Bethlehem. The full text follows:It has been 440 days. 440 days of constant bombi...

This is Rahaf after Israel bombed her home in Gaza. Only two years old, she is considered as one of the lucky ones who was able to leave Gaza for treatment. Both of her legs amputated not long after she learned to walk.

This is truly horrific. Hamas are monsters.

bluetonguegiraffe · 24/12/2024 16:04

So when you said the brutal truth about the war in Gaza, what you meant was one sided bias which entirely lays the blame on Israel and utterly ignores the facts that:

  1. Hamas broke a ceasefire and launched a deliberately barbaric attack on civilian children, women and men to provoke a violent reaction from Israel
  2. Having provoked a violent attack, Hamas has not sheltered its own citizens in its massive network of tunnels ( y'know, in the way Londoners could shelter in the Tube tunnels during WW2).
  3. Hamas use civilian homes and buildings to launch attacks from, meaning these buildings have to be targeted in a war against Hamas. Hamas knew this when it launched its terrorist attack on October 7th.
  4. Hamas has issued public statements actively glorying in the death of civilians ( the death it wrought in its own citizens) as necessary to fortify its fighters (the fighters cowering in the tunnels the civilians are not allowed in).
  5. Hamas could stop the war it started at any point by surrendering and handing back the hostages.

You do realise Hamas and Hezbollah have also fired tens of thousands at Israel since October 7th and would happily be bringing far more devastation to Israel than Israel is brining to Gaza, if only Israel did not have better defences.

War is horrific. Anyone can understand that. What I will never understand is the mentality which feels anger at Israel but not fury at Hamas.

👏. Perfect post

However, it doesn't fit with the virtue signalling on this part of
Mumsnet from the same 6 posters.

Over and over and over and over

As are the people who decided an appropriate response to Hamas's crimes would be to bomb, starve and commit atrocities against civilians. This was not the only course of action available to Israel. It still isn't. There is still time to step away from this, to commit to a ceasefire, to conduct military action within limits that protect civilian populations.

Israel maimed this child.

Switcher · 26/12/2024 12:21

I completely agree that Hamas are barbaric terrorists who will stop at nothing to destroy Israel, including weaponising the suffering of what they claim are their people. I hope this darkness of Islamism fades from the world.

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/12/2024 12:22

@DonnaHadDee What a lovely family ... When one detonation sends up a particularly large cloud of smoke, Fenton exults: "How beautiful! How beautiful! How beautiful! Thanks be to God“

Sickening. With extremists on both sides it’s impossible to imagine how there will ever be resolution.

Schrodinger’s maimed Palestinian children- they’re real but Israel has been forced by Hamas to attack innocent children as part of a diabolic plot to weaponise their suffering while simultaneously there are no maimed Palestinian children, it is only disgusting Hamas propagandist lies covering up IDF’s massive success with 90% of deaths definitely being terrorist combatants.

These posters can’t even keep their falsehoods from contradicting each other.

Why does Hamas exist?

ThisPearlPeer · 28/12/2024 22:05

@Martymcfly24
Why does Hamas exist? 🤔
From their Charter, and the very first points.
-Destruction of Israel: The charter explicitly calls for the destruction of Israel and rejects any peaceful resolution or negotiations that involve recognizing the state of Israel.
-Religious Motivation: It frames the conflict as a religious struggle, claiming that Palestine is an Islamic land that must not be surrendered.

It's all there for everyone to read. Don't believe it? watch the 7 October tapes. Islamists in ecstasy, their best day ever, slaughtering Jews / infidels. Screaming allahu akbar. You'll notice none were shouting 'freedom of Palestine' etc. seemed like they had another agenda. Not to mention 'normal Gazans' cheering and rejoicing at a girl, Jewish of course, contorted and bleeding. Spitting and beating her.

Prob what she deserved hey,

I agree with @bluetonguegiraffe. OP why don't you start a thread about the thousands of deaths in the war in Sudan or Turkey's slaughter of Kurds for example?

Why don’t you?

Why did Netanyahu support them if they wanted the destruction of Israel?

MissyB1 · 28/12/2024 22:11

@bluetonguegiraffe could you tell us if you support Israel in not allowing seriously sick and maimed children to leave Gaza and get the healthcare they need? That was what OP started the thread about (I thought you might need reminding). Do you also support the destruction of the hospitals in Gaza, so that the sick and injured cannot seek any medical attention? If you do could you tell us why?

A poster questions why the outrage towards Israel is so much louder than for Hamas (as it was in the OP).
This leads you to question whether she cares about sick children.

Really??!!

What stupid point are you trying to make?
Whilst I don't know @bluetonguegiraffe@bluetonguegiraffe I am willing to bet she doesn't like dead kids.
Grow up.

Sounded a lot like they were ignoring what Israel has done here. They didn't get a mention. They seemed to completely ignore the entire point of the thread in fact.

I think the ones killing and maiming kids including denying them healthcare should take responsibility for their disgusting actions. Regardless of who they are.

And at this stage I think it's reasonable to question what exactly people who support the IDF are supporting. Because they're responsible for a lot of dead kids. And more every single day.
