Conflict in the Middle East

But they’re definitely not anti-Semitic. 🙄

EmpressOfTheThread · 06/05/2024 14:44

Oh dear lord. What on earth are they doing?

That's a really shocking article. I hadn't heard about this.

This. I consider their protest to be very relevant. What’s the point in history repeating something that it was agreed should never happen again?

Nsmum14 · 06/05/2024 14:49

@Howtonamechange , exactly.

Sounds like you are conflating the actions of the IDF with Jewish people.

Absolutely. What about "Lest we forget"?

They can protest - there are protests everywhere fot them to join. But this is a memorial NOT a protest. Its a memorial to those that died in the Holocaust. Would you disrupt a funeral or a memorial service? Of course you wouldn't. Any human with an ounce of sense and empathy can see that would be grossly innapproriate.

SharonEllis · 06/05/2024 14:56

Utterly disgusting. Conflating Jews with the Israeli army & government. Fuck all to do with zionism. Text book antisemitism & grotesque behaviour.

Coshei · 06/05/2024 14:59

I’m critical of the Israeli government and their treatment of the Palestinians, but this protest is tactless at best.

stomachamelon · 06/05/2024 15:00

It's disgusting behaviour that we see repeated week on week anyway. Not entirely shocked.
How dare they?

greenlettuce · 06/05/2024 15:02

The "March of the living" marking Holocaust day is a Remembrance Day, just as 11/11 in the UK. Whilst I accept that those protesting have a right to their view this was neither the time nor place to express it - extremely distasteful.

stomachamelon · 06/05/2024 15:03

And even more shockingly 1/3 of all poles are antisemitic according to that article.
Why go to the camps?
Articles like that make me really mad and the predictable apologist behaviour that comes with it.

EmpressOfTheThread · 06/05/2024 15:04

I agree, it just seems crass and grossly insensitive. There are loads of protests, all the time, all over the place. Let the Jews have their memorial in peace.

Februaryfeels · 06/05/2024 15:06

Lowlife, classless scum

A memorial to over a million innocent men, women and children and these virtue signalling, bandwagon jumping useful idiots think it is appropriate to demonstrate and chant there

Humanity has well and truly lost its way

Worth remembering that many people died in the holocaust, including Jewish people, disabled people, East Europeans, labour organisers and others.

If it was in good faith, a memorial to people who died in another genocide would be a place to remember all the victims of all the attempts to wipe people off the face of the earth. However, this has become so polarised into 'sides' that can't have a proper conversation, that it looks toxic and yes, antisemitic.

Nazis, Germans, Christians.
IDF, Israelis, Jews.

Not the same as each other.

They're protesting a memorial for Jews specifically on Yom Hashoah, a commemoration day for Jewish deaths in the Holocaust (and not the same as Holocaust Remembrance Day). That's why this is very unashamedly and explicitly antisemitism.

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/05/2024 15:22

Scratch my earlier comment.

Supersimkin2 · 06/05/2024 15:23

Horrible Jew haters.

blackcherryconserve · 06/05/2024 15:24

Shame on them. Let us commemorate our 6 million souls, including my grandmother 😢

EmpressOfTheThread · 06/05/2024 15:29

A specific Jewish memorial day? At the biggest Nazi factory of death?
That should have been left alone. Just leave them in peace to commemorate.

mids2019 · 06/05/2024 15:29

@SharonEllis

Exactly

Livelovebehappy · 06/05/2024 15:34

Vile. But tbh nothing surprises me about these apologists for terrorism. They lack so much self awareness that they really don't care about any offence caused, because their 'cause' is all that matters. The positive out of it is that a lot of people previously sympathetic to the palestinians are turning away. The tide is turning.

stomachamelon · 06/05/2024 15:34

@blackcherryconserve I am sorry x
