What on earth?!

Humdingerydoo · 07/05/2024 09:49

Never again.

Unless you're Jewish, in which case we won't help you until it's too late.

Just like last time.

Honestly, some people. It's fully possible to care about Palestinians without resorting to anti-Semitism. To want peace without admitting you couldn't give a flying fuck about the well-being of a large proportion of the people involved. To think it's not ok to have such a despicable protest as the ones yesterday and still care about people in Gaza. It's possible. Maybe give it a try. Who knows, you might even enjoy not hating a whole religion!

Itsabeautufulday · 07/05/2024 09:51

@TrudyProud

What is your actual aim here? Well apart from personal insults to several posters (not me yet) and general anti semitism?

Do you think you are actually helping the situation at all?

But that is not what this thread is about. Its about a commemoration for the Jews killed in tbe Holocaust. To protest that is, very simplistically, like turning up at a memorial service for someone who died who you disagree with - everyone understands that is inappropriate. To link the actions of the modern Israeli state to the jewish victims of the holocaust tips inappropriate into antisemitism. Your rudeness and self acknowledged disrespect only confirms that you are being deliberately offensive.

The Oxford English dictionary definition of antisemitisim is:

"Hostility towards and discrimination against Jewish people"

Can you honestly say, with the sum of your posting across multiple threads including deleted posts and personal insults (some of which were abhorrent on a Jewish woman's AMA), that you've not been displaying sustained hostile behaviour towards Jewish people?

And you've got the nerve to call others "vile".

Hélène79 · 07/05/2024 10:12

25milesfromhome · 07/05/2024 09:40

You consistently follow Jewish posters around targeting threads about antisemitism and Jews, which are guaranteed to have a higher than average number of Jewish posters on them. To the point of coming to the Jewish MNers board to carry on telling Jews what is and isn’t antisemitism. Post what you like where you like, don’t expect your bigotry to go unchallenged.

This. It's disgusting behaviour.

Waxdrip · 07/05/2024 10:21

I'm ashamed to say that I wasn't really aware of modern day anti semitism until the last few months. It has been deeply shocking to see how widespread it is. That protest is disgraceful. Six million Jews murdered in cold blood and their descendants can't be left alone to commemorate?

Israel/Palestine is a discussion for another time.

Tovacado · 07/05/2024 10:44

I would to this that when 6 million people are murdered, most of them won’t have any descendants. Millions of people are not anyone’s grandmother, they’re just gone.

Persecution of Jews has happened in every country they have ever lived in, including very recently in the Middle East leading to almost all Middle Eastern Jews fleeing to Israel. And systematically killing Jews is exactly what Hamas continue to do.

noblegiraffe · 07/05/2024 11:11

Basic decency says you don’t turn up and heckle when people are mourning their dead.

It’s so basic that it is hard to believe that some people can’t grasp this. One wonders whether they do it deliberately to cause as much upset as possible.

Bearing in mind the context that this comment was made in relation to a Pro-Palestinian protest on the Holocaust Remembrance Day, I would say this comment is one of the most explicit and unabashed displays of anti-Semitism on one of these threads to date.

Your comment "...what's happening in Gaza is being done in their name" is unashamedly conflating the 6 million murdered Jews with the IDF operations in Gaza that began when another ghastly genocide was perpetrated. The operations in Gaza are a subject for another thread (hundreds of them in fact) and I am astounded that your comment conflates Jewish people with this.

Note: edited to eradicate a typo.

Can you even hear yourself?

@keenforhelp agreed. I have not reported it though as I do feel its such a good example it should stand, and not be deleted.

I didn't report it either for the very same reason, but just noticed it's been deleted. Shame, could have been quite the eye-opener for people to see what modern day anti-semitism can look like.

I didn't report it either. I would rather the comment have stood for these reasons too.

I'm Palestinian, and that I am disgusted by this.
Cruel and abhorrent.
I am sorry

Thank you for your support.

@TrudyProud

You can see by the multitude of replies that your post was anti semitic, offensive hate speech. NOT ONE person supported your comment. Have a think about that?

silvernglow · 07/05/2024 21:28

I have a suspicion that poster won't be back. Under that username anyway.
