How have we come to a state where the police confront someone for being overtly Jewish?

mids2019 · 20/04/2024 18:39

Just how?

I think at best this inept policing at worst vile anti semitism.

I suppose it is now in the open that central London has become effectively a no go area for Jews given the potential for abuse from hate marchers.

Can't we just stop these marches so Jews can go about their business?

Darn it! This is why I never trust Twitter, it was posted as a pic from London event.

Never trust Twitter, never trust something with multiple edits.

If the message is too good to be true, it is probably propaganda,

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 24/04/2024 22:07

Here's video of GF before he crossed the road at Aldwych to assault the police officer. To those who know the area, how did he cross the march the 1st/xth time?

When did he assault a police officer?

Watch the long video

Becky776 · 24/04/2024 22:36

GF didn’t assault a police officer, it’s off the scale victim blaming and antisemitic conspiracy theories.
CAA (and other Jewish organisations) have been raising concerns about the marches and antisemitism for 6months and been gaslight and ignored. It’s taken GF, at considerable personal and reputational risk, provoking a reaction from the police to get this taken seriously and it’s worked. The Met’s been told by PM to ‘police not manage’ and the Met had a meeting with leaders of several well respected Jewish organisations on London.
What he’s done is really brave, he’s stood up for his community.

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 24/04/2024 22:41

@Becky776 UK law has quite a low bar for assault, especially of a police officer. May be different where you are. 13+ mins of argybargy is enough over here.

noblegiraffe · 24/04/2024 22:44

13 minutes of what? Talking to a police officer? Assault?

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 24/04/2024 22:47

clearmoon · 23/04/2024 05:12

Which he is required to wear, for his religeon...

Why should be need "escorting to safety"?

Just imagine a police officer saying something similar to you

"You can't be on this street looking openly female - too many men here hate women so it is likely to cause a breach of the peace - et me escort you away from the place you are trying to get to"

Except I certainly wouldn’t want to cross the road through a demonstration of men who hate women, and I wouldn’t try to push past a police officer who was trying to stop an escalation.
I think everyone will agree it was a very poor choice of words, obviously.

noblegiraffe · 24/04/2024 22:49

It was a great choice of words, because it was an honest choice of words.

It might have offended people, but the real problem there is the marchers who might attack the visibly Jewish person, isn't it?

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 24/04/2024 22:52

Maybe there is more than one bad actor around.

Becky776 · 24/04/2024 22:53

yawn… we’re going round in the same boring circles again. Ultimately he achieved his goal and sometimes the end justifies the means.
But no one on here seems to want to talk about how clear it is that we have two tier policing after Saturday and the St George’s March. How strange.

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 24/04/2024 22:57

Ultimately he achieved his goal - if his goal was to undermine UK democracy and make UK Jews feel more uncomfortable - I agree.

I did, but I didn't see him assault a police officer.

Why would he want to make Jewish people uncomfortable?

1dayatatime · 24/04/2024 23:39

"Ultimately he achieved his goal - if his goal was to undermine UK democracy and make UK Jews feel more uncomfortable - I agree."

And how exactly did he undermine UK democracy?

These tin foil hat conspiracy theorist posts are very tiresome.

1dayatatime · 24/04/2024 23:43

@NerdWhoEatsMedlar

"Here's video of GF before he crossed the road at Aldwych to assault the police officer."

So numerous posts have seen the long video and none of us saw him assault a police officer.

Do you want to either point out the time in the video this " assault "
Is supposed to have taken place or simply admit that you just made this shit up?

namechangedforconfusion · 24/04/2024 23:44

I've watched the video in its entirety. That jewish man ignored the rules, was deliberately walking into the crowd in the wrong direction, provoking members of the crowd, and antagonising them. His reasons for walking into the crowd was because he "wanted to get to the other side." However, when the police officer offered to walk him another direction to get to the other side safely, he refused and became combative.

His name's Gideon Falter and he's been known to do this at many protests. Brings his bodyguards with him and provokes and antagonises pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

I'm not one for taking sides, but this was transparent. Sky News even posted it.

Becky776 · 24/04/2024 23:52

And yet more victim blaming from people who don’t want to acknowledge the uncomfortable fact that the marches are antisemitic.

Still no comments on two tier policing… why is that?

Being against this genocide is not anti-semitic. Being anti-zionist does not equate to being anti-semitic.
You are aware there are jewish people who attend these marches. What would you call them?
Also there were pro-Israel demonstrations taking place too.

How much would you need provoking to yell Nazi at a Jew? Because it didn't seem like much, for that protestor.

You know that nobody but said protestor can answer your question because no one here is psychic.
There are some obvious similarities to Nazism in some radical Zionist rhetoric, and the same applies to other radical and uncompromising groups. It’s a stupid and insulting term to throw at someone in passing though the way the protestor did.

PeasfullPerson · 25/04/2024 07:45

The real reason that politicians who support (or are responsible for) the genocide in Gaza don’t like these marches is because it means they can’t quietly contribute to the death of innocent men, women and children in Gaza while the public look the other way.

The objections raised against these marches are often extreme and hypocritical, with no reference as to the context in which they are taking place.

The perpetrators of death are these politicians.

The people on these marches haven’t killed anybody.

Save your anger for people who are willing to support and turn a blind eye to the death of innocent children.

PeasfullPerson · 25/04/2024 07:50

Where is Hind? She was sat in a car pleading for help while surrounded by her dead family. Now she is dead and full of bullet wounds.

Where is Gideon Falter? Probably sat in his comfortable home planning his next attention seeking outing.

Think about it.
