How have we come to a state where the police confront someone for being overtly Jewish?

Just how?

I think at best this inept policing at worst vile anti semitism.

I suppose it is now in the open that central London has become effectively a no go area for Jews given the potential for abuse from hate marchers.

Can't we just stop these marches so Jews can go about their business?

Rachel Riley is a known racist and Islamophobe. I don't take anything she says with merit.

And the Palestinian flag is not antisemitic or a symbol for pro-Hamas. Get over yourselves and stop this censorship!

Agree. I have no time for people that call out hate against their own community but at the same time spread hate about another. I see a lot of it on these threads too. You either disagree with hate and division or you don't, you can't have it both ways.

The Jewish Chronicle an unbiased source (not). I would expect the Zionist Militia who expelled Palistineans from their homes would also be a consideration?

I was waiting for this comment.

Yet Al Jazeera is often linked to on these threads.

Both creditable sources to those who consume their news and opinions from them.

A vast minority is "many" to me in the UK.

Are you suggesting the Jewish Chronicle is lying? Are you suggesting there is any justification for celebrating the horror of 7 October? I have not come across the Zionist Militia before - who are they?

The Palestinian flag is not necessarily, of itself pro-Hamas. But what other reading is there of people waving it in celebration in the aftermath of 7 October? Imagine hearing of the murder, mutiliation, rape & torture of human beings and your instinct is to celebrate. The denialism & obfuscation here is chilling. So much for wanting peace.

My post has nothing to do with anything you've commented on. Have you tagged me by mistake?

You need to quote them directly not through my post if you want them to see it

I was agreeing with her opinion of Rachel Riley being racist.

I wave the Palestinian flag with pride and support. So I see nothing wrong with it.

If you're offending , I simply don't care.

That's grand. I'm terribly proud of the union flag and am considering having a little flagpole, I'm sure everyone will take it in the spirit it's intended. Honi soit qui mal y pense & all that.

@SharonEllis the JC has been known for making false statements. As for the Zionist Militia, you need to brush up on your history. Simon Sebag Montefiore's book Jerusalem writes about it in a balanced way

Please provide evidence where the JC has made false statements?

My history is good, thanks. These posts are about celebrations of Hamas's recent Oct 7th attacks. It was not clear what the historic Zionist Miitias have to do with it - no need to explain. Lets keep to the subject of the thread.

My perception of what happened here was different. The guy in the video wasn't going about his business. He had come to the march intentionally in order to provoke some participant into committing some aggression against him. Maybe they would have, maybe they wouldn't. But the police were right to stop him from doing this. They were perfectly willing to help him get where he was going without walking across or into the demonstration.

Absolutely this. The policeman did not say anything malicious to the Jewish guy. Seemed like he was trying to protect him from himself and the baying mob.

It is linked the JC article talks about dehumanising Jews and the Nazi connection. The Zionist Militia was the start of destroying Palestine. I would disagree that your knowledge is good.

Beyond stopping the protests, or stopping the crimes being committed in Gaza, what else can be done to reduce antisemitism?

What can people who care do to help?

What are some realistically implemented actions that people can take?

Listen to Jews and stop connecting 'crimes' in Gaza with Jews, would be a start.
