Conflict in the Middle East

To say the London Palestinian marches should be stopped

KarmaCaramello · 18/04/2024 08:26

They are weekly marches found to be organised by organisations with links to Hamas, and at least one ex Hamas member.

They are supporting a terrorist organisation that has just committed the deadliest day in Israel’s history. An Iranian dissident was arrested for holding a sign saying Hamas is Terrorist, despite the fact that they are a UK-designated terrorist organisation - because protestors assaulted him on seeing the sign.

If they were calling for peace and fewer casualties they would be condemning Hamas and calling for them to surrender.

AIBU to think this is deeply disturbing and has no place on the streets of London. Note - terrorist support is illegal and not protected speech.

“Automaton” - dehumanising people there, that’s disgusting.

Like the Palestinian "innocent civilians" dehumanised that poor German girl, mutilated and paraded through the streets. The "ordinary, innocent Gazans" celebrated and cheered.

How many should be killed to punish that? People in that area, people an hours drive away?

How many civilians that may have jeered or may have been at home cooking for their family should be killed to atone?

I don't think anyone denies there has been atrocities on either side but if my neighbour murdered your sister, or my government attacks you then how far should the punishment reach? Can you bomb the hospital I'm having chemotherapy in to punish my government?

You appear to support a murderous government, and you appear to support bombing and murdering thousands of civilians using drones, aircraft, artillery and cruise missiles. You appear to think that destruction will somehow make things better and lead to a brighter future. Deluded.

Nope, please don’t seek more violence or make threats.

I'm not making threats. This is the logic of the Israel First people.

As long as the UK government is sending weapons to Israel to facilitate the killing of thousands of civilians, I will be marching. Call me antisemitic, Hamas supporter or a "useful idiot" as much as you want. I couldn't care less., simply because what is happening in Gaza is amoral, inhuman, beyond cruel and illegal.
If people see nothing wrong with the slaughter of innocents by any means ( bombing, starving, denial of medication and so forth), I would suggest they examine their moral compass and their conscience.

No. Of course not. I don't believe in rounding up locals and executing them because someone committed a crime, like the Nazis in WW2.

What I do believe though is that whatever historic grievances might be there, Hamas and Hezbollah have been attacking Israel for years, and October 7 was the most heinous, planned massacre of peaceful families and young people that included rape, torture, abduction, and mutilation. I whole heartedly back Israel's decision to do their utmost to rid the world of these savages. Unfortunately, as part of this, civilians are unfortunately killed. I also reject this blanket "innocent civilians" narrative. They voted for these bastards, they cheered the murders, not just giving Israel a bloody nose, but specifically the rape and mutilation.

All these "peace" marches, why not campaign for Hamas to give up the hostages? Why not urge Hamas to the table? Why is the onus on Israel to unilaterally lay down their arms before these evil swines are killed to a man?

I'd love to see peace, but not without those poor hostages being freed and some kind of guarantees that they'll leave Israel alone, at the very least, no repeat of 7/10.

You're making far too much sense I'm afraid

Everanewbie · 18/04/2024 10:03

@Comedycook apparently too much sense for the person who wants to drop a bomb on my entire bloodline.

I think deluded as demanding Israel lay down their arms and essentially accept what is coming to them in the form of civilian massacres and rocket attacks.

meatyryvita · 18/04/2024 10:08

This casual, convenient 'you don't support Israel's genocide of Palestine, therefore you are anti-semitic' is lazy and a great way of deflecting attention from the horrors Israel is committing.

If what Hamas did was so horrific (it was, obviously), why are we supposed to support Israel's leadership doing the same thing 20 times over? They are deliberately causing famine and genocide - it's unforgiveable.

Now before I get the 'but Hamas did X' - WE KNOW THAT HAMAS ARE NOT THE GOOD GUYS! It still doesn't justify Israel starving and murdering thousands of Palestinians with impunity.

Everanewbie · 18/04/2024 10:12

And genocide? Since when is this taken as fact? South Africa made a claim, but thats about it. I'm not always a fan of Douglas Murray, but his recent point, paraphrased, is that if this truly is an attempt at genocide, Israel are perhaps its most inept exponents in history given that the population of Gaza is increasing.

Comedycook · 18/04/2024 10:12

If it's not about anti semitism can anyone explain to me why Jewish people were being abused and attacked in this country after the October 7th attack before Israel had even retaliated?

Because anti-semites were emboldened? It doesn't mean that the rest of the people not supporting Israel suddenly became anti-semitic. It's like how there were spikes in crimes on Muslims in the US post 9/11 - racists were emboldened.

No it's not like that at all. The October 7th attack was not carried out by Israel was it. It was carried out by hamas. If it was like what happened after 9/11, then the islamophobes would have come out again after 7/10. However, Jewish people were attacked .

I don't condone islamophobia by the way.

And anti semites were emboldened by what? Jewish people/Israelis/other nationalities being attacked and kidnapped. Why would being the victim of an attack bring out the anti semites?

Emboldened by the concept of if you keep people in the largest concentration camp on earth for years, they'll eventually blow. There will have been some people who thought 'they've only themselves to blame' and that will have emboldened them in expressing their anti-semitic stance.

Ok...so let me get this clear. Instead of protesting about these perceived injustices prior to 7/10...they waited until innocent people were murdered and kidnapped, then decided to abuse Jewish people in the UK.

Which is disgusting, and yet people on this site and elsewhere shrug it off. I'm with @Comedycook and @Everanewbie , there is so much hypocrisy around this issue and the people marching for Hamas need to have a strong word with themselves.

Comedycook · 18/04/2024 10:25

Recently in the news, some school girls were kidnapped in Nigeria. Did anyone in the UK decide to go and attack random Nigerian people and businesses in the UK? No of course they didn't. But it's apparently totally understandable when Jewish people are attacked.

redredreds · 18/04/2024 10:26

yes, the London pro Hamas marches need to stop.

I wish the civil war in Sudan which has displaced millions of people and left them facing starvation would stop. Such a shame no one protests over it. I wonder why?

Is it because you're on mumsnet defending genocide rather than organising a protest about Sudan?
