Israeli Eurovision: how low can you go?

Redebs · 04/03/2024 09:21

Israeli entry in Eurovision song contest is likely to be a song called 'October Rain' sung by trans-identifying 'Eden 'Golan'.

My previous thread was deleted for pointing this out.

They could have gone to Eurovision and be quiet and do nothing(like the one from my country). However , they tried to find their ways to remind everyone that there are many innocent civilians being killed in a small country.

for that they’ve been harassed.

I hope our next generations are more like them.

I suspect any perceived harassment is due to their pathetic and childish behaviour

So you’re happy with harassing people that you don’t like their behaviour? When many of the participants (not only those in the picture) have said how difficult this week has been for them because all that has been happening backstage. 3 of them filed a complain yesterday and the person that had been harassing them on that time was kicked out … I’d rather support those that have childish behaviour than the harasser.

These contestants literally bullied Eden Golan yet you think they're the victims here? I was honestly so embarrassed for them the way they behaved. Unlike Eden, they actively and purposely behaved badly. It was absolutely disgraceful.

Bullied ? What did Bambie do to bully her ? What did iolanda do ? What did nemo do ? What has the guy from Lithuania do ?

they all have said how difficult has it been backstage because a certain team has been harassing them and filming them without their permission and posting on SM stuff about them

EasterIssland · 12/05/2024 16:49

Scarlettskies · 12/05/2024 15:54

Out-of interest, why do you hope the next generation is like those particular people?

I think people that are not scared to speak up about things that they don’t think should be happening is good.

Humdingerydoo · 12/05/2024 17:07

Oh wow, you're so blinded by your own bias you genuinely don't actually know how those contestants have been acting this whole week, do you? You really need to start looking at different Instagram accounts for a more varied selection of stories. Did you see Joost covering himself with a flag so he wouldn't be in a photo with Eden? Marina Satti pretending to sleep during the press conference? They've all been actively excluding her and even tried to get her booted off the show. The Israeli commentary was on Tuesday. Bambie Thug decided to wait until just before the final on Saturday to report it purely to try and force Israel out of the competition. It's bullying. It's gross. Not sure why you're not only not condemning it but also supporting it?! Joost is accused of threatening behaviour towards a woman and you hope more people are like him in the future?

Oh and when everyone is filming someone and only the Israeli is told to stop, that's also bullying. It's actively excluding someone. It's being a fucking awful Mean Girl.

I saw something in action, but Mumsnet won't let me publish the word. Its the very same thing pro Pals accuse Israel of being. Some people are so absorbed with hate, they let that extend to a song contest. Eden was out of this world with her vocals.

  1. I’ve not asked about marina or joost. So please can you let me know the singers I’ve mentioned what did they do?
  1. They reported it when it happened, about the person helping Eden with the clothes filming them without their consent. The person harassing them was kicked out. Victim blaming?
  1. Joost has been accused. Police is investigating it. His team is supporting him and not happy with the way ebu has handled it. I’ll wait to hear what police has to say.

Absolutely. It was clear that shunning and goading the Israeli delegation was planned so they could be cast in a bad light. Everyone following each other like sheep.

Look at the SM hysteria immediately falsely claiming that Joost bloke had been made fun of by Israel for his parents death which was what his song was about! The mindset to make that up! Blame Israel.

Him and that Spanish entrant were absolutely vile.

TBH it was pretty terrifyingly easy from the behaviour inside and outside the arena to see how the Holocaust actually came about.

They were in your photo glorifying the bullies. You can't just change the conversation to suit you.

No, not victim blaming. I'm talking about Bambie Thug & friends trying to force EBU to disqualify Israel for comments made on Tuesday by people who aren't Eden. They waited until Saturday to complain. I wonder why that might be? The one with the Israeli guy filming is a separate event. Not what they were trying to disqualify Israel for.

So I guess you're pro-Trump? He's only been accused of paying off his mistress. The police are investigating it. His team is supporting him as they're not happy with how the prosecutors are handling it. And more on topic - why aren't you giving Israel the same benefit of the doubt? There's been no proof of genocide. Are you not being a massive hypocrite?

Greek entrant. Wasn’t able to edit post in time.

Limesodaagain · 12/05/2024 17:24

People who support (or excuse ) the bullying of a competitor in a singing competition are not really interested in peace or fairness. It is up to the EBU to decide the rules about who can compete.

I think you mean Greek, not Spanish. The Greek contestant was the vile one who was stupid enough to continue her bullying on camera 🤦🏻‍♀️

The Greece entry was also the most awful of the night. Brash, tacky and incoherent garbage.

Your lack of empathy is a bit embarrassing

Limesodaagain · 12/05/2024 17:34

Scirocco · 12/05/2024 14:17

I appreciated that people boycotted and that people, including perforners, broadcasters and presenters, found peaceful ways to express support for the Palestinian people who, while the show was broadcast, continued to be bombed, shot at, displaced and denied aid and healthcare.

I appreciated that, while voting would clearly have been skewed by the changes in who was doing the voting, the highest-scoring songs overall did appear to be consistent with actually being the better songs in the competition.

I was disappointed in the amount of bullying and intimidating behaviours reported, and extremely saddened to see the abuse thrown at people just because of their ethnicity and/or political views. I was appalled to see protests outside a person's hotel room - for me, that's the equivalent of protesting outside someone's home, and that's a line I think should not be crossed.

💯 . Thank you 🙏

Luckily, Eden didn't play the victim. For a 20 year old singer, she dealt with the bullies, really well. Imagine performing on a live international stage and having a bunch of intolerants booing you. Classless.

Zero fucks given when a genocide is happening, I’ll save my sympathy for them thanks.
