Israeli Eurovision: how low can you go?

Redebs · 04/03/2024 09:21

Israeli entry in Eurovision song contest is likely to be a song called 'October Rain' sung by trans-identifying 'Eden 'Golan'.

My previous thread was deleted for pointing this out.

Anybody, who is intolerant of political opinions, if they are on the right, would be called the F word. Do the left wing think they are above criticism? To boo a young woman is just bullying.

Ok dear.

Scirocco · 12/05/2024 14:17

I appreciated that people boycotted and that people, including perforners, broadcasters and presenters, found peaceful ways to express support for the Palestinian people who, while the show was broadcast, continued to be bombed, shot at, displaced and denied aid and healthcare.

I appreciated that, while voting would clearly have been skewed by the changes in who was doing the voting, the highest-scoring songs overall did appear to be consistent with actually being the better songs in the competition.

I was disappointed in the amount of bullying and intimidating behaviours reported, and extremely saddened to see the abuse thrown at people just because of their ethnicity and/or political views. I was appalled to see protests outside a person's hotel room - for me, that's the equivalent of protesting outside someone's home, and that's a line I think should not be crossed.

Auvergne63 · 12/05/2024 14:21

I think the pro Palestinian lobby are very vocal but actually a lot of people silently support Israel.
Nope.

Probably the same people, who are fed up with being guilt tripped on their support for Israel.
No one can make you feel anything. While other people can affect your mood, they’re not responsible for your feelings. No one can make you feel guilty without your consent.

Public opinion is largely the same as it was in our last update three months ago

Thanks @Auvergne63 - I hadn't seen the May results so I'll have a proper read through later.

People, wanting to go about their normal business during the protests, would disagree.protest by all means but don't shout shame on you. That IS guilt tripping. Fair enough, if people are single minded to ignore the harassment.

The public spoke, last night.

How many exactly “spoke”? I can’t imagine many pro-Palestinian’s watching or voting so I wouldn’t claim victory.

Not true, the Israeli facade is crumbling and people’s eyes have finally been opened to the truth. People who don’t watch/enjoy the ESC have deliberately voted for Israel. I’m glad the Israeli entry didn’t win because they should not have been allowed. All the chaos that ensued is proof that so many disagreed with Israel being allowed to enter.

EasterIssland · 12/05/2024 14:43

They could have gone to Eurovision and be quiet and do nothing(like the one from my country). However , they tried to find their ways to remind everyone that there are many innocent civilians being killed in a small country.

for that they’ve been harassed.

I hope our next generations are more like them.

I hope our next generations aren't brainwashed by the teaching profession, among others.

but blaming the teachers ? 🙄

Why not, the profession is an echo chamber for the left.

The point of protesting is to cause disruption so people complain to their MPs, who , in return, put pressure on the government to act.
Trust me, protesting works very well where I come from.
I have already explained that people are responsible for their feelings. If you feel guilt tripped, it is because you already ( consciously or not) feel guilty.

If you believe teachers brainwash students/pupils, I hope you have /educate your children (if you have any) at home.

I don't feel guilty about supporting Israel, not in the slightest. Unfortunately, not everyone is as single minded.

There is a difference between supporting Israel, the country, and supporting the actions of the Israeli government/IDF.

Bit like support for the other side, then.

Of course children and students are brainwashed. It's naive to suggest otherwise. It could be subconscious bias, bit that bias certainly exists. Why are so many students flocking like sheep, to protest about something of which they know nothing? They are being egged on by their tutors.

These contestants literally bullied Eden Golan yet you think they're the victims here? I was honestly so embarrassed for them the way they behaved. Unlike Eden, they actively and purposely behaved badly. It was absolutely disgraceful.

Eden had by far the best vocals of the night. A beautiful young lady, with a great singing career ahead of her.

Out-of interest, why do you hope the next generation is like those particular people?
