Israeli entry in Eurovision song contest is likely to be a song called 'October Rain' sung by trans-identifying 'Eden 'Golan'.

My previous thread was deleted for pointing this out.

I'd suggest not using the term genocide, thanks.

I agree with you, the complete minimisation of the current genocide of Palestinians has me flabbergasted too.

Sooy, @AboutYouTalk I'd suggest not using the term genocide, thanks.

Kendodd · 11/05/2024 17:14

Watching the news, what a mess it all looks. I do feel sorry for the Israeli women. Its not her fault what's happening in Gaza. I don't think Netanyahu's comment about Israel has already won has helped her at all either.

There obviously is no genocide of the Palestinians. It’s just a silly thing to do to repeat obvious propaganda from a terrorist organization. It’s really offensive too. Especially towards Israel where many people are survivors or descendants of survivors of genocide.

I find your complete denial offensive. If anyone looks silly right now it’s you.

Facts.

October 7th was more like genocide (like a pogrom).

The response, against Hamas, is more like a war against terror; and the jury is currently out on the official international judgment of aspects of Israel's behaviour.

So, not facts.

I feel sorry for all the competitors. Israel should not be there and Netanyahu is arrogant, war mongering bully.

What absolute rubbish. Murdering 14,000 children in 6 months is horrific and anyone that minimises that or believes it is justified obviously hate Palestinians so just be honest with what you're trying to say

I have been honest, thank you.

Ah got my post got deleted. Well as a well known movie quote goes "you can't handle the truth"

Gunnersforthecup · 11/05/2024 18:49

@dulra I'm afraid I didn't see your post, much less ask for it to be deleted.

I think it would be good if we can a) be polite to each other and b) not use motive terms like genocide for Israel's response to October 7th, for reasons I've explained before.

Gunnersforthecup · 11/05/2024 18:50

that should be "emotive" not "motive"

One second, you don't want the term genocide to be used because it's too emotive for your delicate senses...

What a position is privilege you come from. Meanwhile the genocide continues, and continues to be investigated as such by the ICJ.

Honestly, all commentators say stuff like this. They all make fun of the performers. Pretty sure they would've said the exact same thing if they had been Swedish or Italian. But yes, it's unfortunate that it was about the Irish performer as now that will obviously just help feed the anti-Israel sentiments among the Irish.

Anyway, if they broke the guidelines I'm sure they'll be dealt with.

It doesn’t seem to be a bad thing to say at all. I don’t think it will feed pro Palestinians sentiment in Ireland at all, it runs deeper than a comment about a performer. there was huge pressure on Bambie Thug to not go and they were like I’m with the protestors on this issue of the Israeli/Gaza war but I’m still going to perform.

No, you're right. All the contestants are suffering.
Not sure about Israel not being there though, although Netanyahu
does seem to be loving it. No individual is responsible for the actions of
their government. People shouldn’t be protesting against a young women though. This has made me rethink Russia’s ban
actually.

Kendodd · 11/05/2024 19:06

I think you're right about Netanyahu though, horrible, horrible racist man.

one second, ICJ have not said that Israel's actions are genocide. If their deliberations are ongoing, then we should wait for their thoughts surely, before second guessing them.

Meanwhile, Hamas have as their objectives destroying Israel (and all Jews, I understand) and replacing Israel with an Islamic Palestinian state.

That sounds a lot more like genocide to me. If we are talking genocidal intentions in this context, we should be referring to Hamas.

Nothing led to the October 7th atrack other than Hamas's murderous racist hatred. There is no justification for such barbarism against civilians.

sunnydaysanddaydreams · 11/05/2024 19:20

@NotTerfNorCis you're seriously justifying what Hamas did in October last year? Rapes, murders, torture? Wow
