Israeli entry in Eurovision song contest is likely to be a song called 'October Rain' sung by trans-identifying 'Eden 'Golan'.

My previous thread was deleted for pointing this out.

80% in Gaza. Isn’t it a big high taken into account more than 50% of the population is under age and many of them are probably below 10 years ?

Yesterday's Reuters poll of UK general election voting intentions says that "The poll, coming ahead of an election later this year, put Labour on 48% and the ruling Conservatives on 18%,"

They don't feel the need to point out that this excludes children, who they didn't poll.

The poll the pp mentions found that 80% of the limited number of Gazans polled supported the October 7th attack. I'm assuming they didn't poll 5 year olds.

Unfortunately, people do genuinely believe antisemitic tropes, and don't even notice. They always have - even the tropes which seem obvious and absurd to us now.

Sadly this is true. It’s the same old, “Jews are baby killers” nonsense too. Jews steal other peoples land (used to be polish/Russian/German/Iranian land, now the land of people who immigrated to our historical land). Now the old “Jews are whiny babies who see antisemitism everywhere” just because a few got killed and taken hostage.

You do wonder if people can’t question why they treat Jews and israel so differently from everyone else and join the dots. Sadly many lack the mental capacity to do so.

Unfortunately it is a deeply racist society which needs deradicalised. We should not have allowed UNRWA and others to be infiltrated by Hamas and their ilk. Children are openly taught race hate and violence towards Jews at school in Gaza. We must make clear that these things are unacceptable and make aid conditional on them. There will be no lasting peace until this hate comes to an end.

It doesn’t seem to be the same as here
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-60530513.amp

wikipedia says once it was announced Russia wouldn’t take part Russians tv decided not to pay the fees

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia_in_the_Eurovision_Song_Contest_2022#:~:text=However%2C%20on%2025%20February%202022,final%20on%2010%20May%202022.

so seems it was a political decision which forced it.

I mean, not according to the people who actually work at Eurovision. Again, look up confirmation bias.

Israel has a government in the national interest since 7 October with representatives of all parties.

A government comprising of this man, Ben Gvir, He is the leader of Otzma Yehudit, a Kahanist and anti-Arab party and is part of what has been called the most right-wing government in Israel's history.
The same man who was convicted in 2007 for inciting racism.
Ben-Gvir convicted of inciting to racism - The Jerusalem Post (jpost.com)
The same man who said "Erase Gaza". To be fair, he isn't the only one in the Israeli government who uses that type of rhetoric.
Calls for Gaza to be “flattened,” “erased” or “destroyed” had been mentioned about 18,000 times since Oct. 7 in Hebrew posts on X according to FakeReporter, an Israeli group that monitors disinformation and hate speech. The phrases were only mentioned 16 times in the month and a half before the war.
I am so bloody glad that this is not my government.
Don't forget they were democratically elected as Hamas were.

Self-declared Kahane spokesman found guilty of carrying signs that read, "Expel the Arab enemy" and "Rabbi Kahane was right: The Arab MKs are a fifth column."

So what you're saying is, you didn't say Israel were buying their way on to Eurovision just that Israel is only allowed to compete because they're giving Eurovision money and they wouldn't want to bite the hand that feeds them? But that's not the same as Israel paying to ensure they get to compete? Ok.

Anyway, to be clear - Israel didn't pay to be allowed on it. Implying or insinuating otherwise is quite the conspiracy theory.

No I'm saying one of reasons the EBU may not have bowed to the pressure to suspend Israel this year is because their main sponsor is an Israeli company. As I've said that is my opinion
Israel didn't pay to be allowed on it
Every broadcasting authority has to pay to be on it, the big 5 pay more than others which is why they get straight into the grand final

CheshireCat1 · 10/05/2024 16:54

My vote is going to Croatia, it’s a proper catchy number.

Humdingerydoo · 10/05/2024 16:59

Swedish media said something about Joost attacking a photographer. He was also covering his face with his flag so he wouldn't be in a photo next to Eden. So not sure he's necessarily the innocent party 🙄

Of course it’s not like you to knee jerk post anything you can find to cast Israel in a bad light without fact checking @EasterIssland but there are several comments that this idiot hit a Swedish camera woman. What is true hey?

This the same fool who asked Eden Golan if she thought by being there was endangering the safety of other artists. Totally ignoring that SHE is not endangering anybody, it’s the crazed pro Palestinian protestors who are endangering her, an innocent civilian.

Do you condemn that?

Now the old “Jews are whiny babies who see antisemitism everywhere” just because a few got killed and taken hostage.

When the prime minister of Israel, Netanyahu, and some of his ministers call the UN, US, EU, ICC, ICJ, WHO and many individual countries antisemitic they are making the term meaningless and that is who people should be angry with. It will become the boy who cried wolf, they are a threat to Jewish safety.

You do wonder if people can’t question why they treat Jews and israel so differently from everyone else and join the dots. Sadly many lack the mental capacity to do so.
Do they? How so?
I see Israel get away with actions no other democratic developed government would get away with. So if that's the different treatment you refer to I would agree.

Humdingerydoo · 10/05/2024 17:21

The lovely, peaceful pro-Palestinian protesters bullied a food truck owner into leaving the Eurovision grounds. They did the same to another food truck owner but the other one "only" received horrible comments without the added fun of hateful threats that Patricia received.

Absolutely disgusting bullies.

Edited

So trying to get his accreditation details so they can report him for behaving inappropriately? Or is there more missing from your screenshot? Although yes, I don't approve of the intimidating aspect of being 3 against 1.

Did anything happen? Was the Spanish journalist hurt or just a bit scared? Has he reported the Israeli journalists? Did they report him for his behaviour? I obviously can't find any mention of this anywhere else so can't do my own research on it.

(I said obviously because I don't speak Hebrew or Spanish)

stormy4319trevor · 10/05/2024 17:49

@CheshireCat1 Ah yes. I'm getting Adam Ant vibes from the outfits, and I think you could dance to it. Not bad.

For something a little more theatrical Ireland is a good bet.

Oh, sorry no. I couldn't finish listening to that, too shouty. But I think I may go with Croatia as they have some rhythm and charm.
