Not many amusing things in this business but couldn't help but smile seeing that Netanyahu is sooo cross that he's told the Israeli embassy in DC not to accommodate Gantz during his stay

Apparently, we'll be seeing Gantz in the UK later this week so maybe he'll be onto the Israeli embassy here too

So petty

The Western countries realise their folly and are trying to back out slowly saving some face and influence (hence the participation in the Air drops).

They believe that if they can execute a regime change in Israel, all the violence can be "blamed" on Netanyahu and the world can get back to the status quo and all will be forgiven (Yes, they do really hold their electorate in contempt and believe we will easily forget).

As @FOJN said strategically the Israeli government right now presents the biggest threat to World Stability. Yesterday Hezbollah thwarted 2 attempts by the Golani brigade to enter Lebanon. Netanyahu wants escalation to drag the US into the conflict.

Warning distressing photos

https://x.com/hatescapitalism/status/1764653851368423822?s=46

"Shocking pictures of the body of the Palestinian child Yazan Al-Kafarna, who passed away this morning due to the deterioration of his health condition because of malnutrition, amidst the ongoing siege and the Israeli war on the #Gaza Strip."

inkworks273 · 04/03/2024 17:42

Imagine having to watch your child slowly starve to death like that. Fuck Israel.

EasterIssland · 04/03/2024 21:22

Some will say Israel was just defending itself

That works for every armed conflict.

Soldiers are just a cog in a killing machine, regardless of nationality.

If you don't understand that, you don't understand the psychology of war.

"Air drops, you say? We've got a solution for that."

It's so hard
I have a good friend in Jenin and he's saying if this happened to a European or an Israeli, there would be a revolution. I think he's right in terms of the deep seated racism that drives reactions in the West but I'm also wondering whether the people in n charge, those with real power just don't value human life generally. (I told him about a man who starved in England recently, a white English man, and even that didn't move his own government to care)

Eyesopenwideawake · 05/03/2024 22:05

I watched Ch4 news tonight and for the first time in my life I wept watching the news. The dying children, the body of a twin being wrapped, the other already having died.

If this is humanity we all deserve to be wiped out.

Where I am the news focused on starving children in Gaza. It's beyond belief.

As an IVF mother this makes me so sad.

So do the stories of women who tried for years to get pregnant only for Israel to kill their babies. Such a waste of precious life.

It feels like such a privilege to sit in my warm, comfy and peaceful home, and cry for the people I see in these images. It makes me feel like what right do I have to be upset. Not really sure if I’m explaining this very well, it’s difficult to find the correct words.

I am wondering the same thing. The reports of Putin (71) being ill (Parkinson’s rumour), of Nethanyu (74) being ill (cancer rumour) of Biden (82) being ill (Alzheimer’s rumour) perhaps because these leaders are acknowledged to be ill, perhaps keeping from us even a terminal illness, there is no deterrence to them committing crimes to stay in power.

The likelihood of them being alive to stand trial, or even serve a day in prison is much lower than say a healthy leader. Life in prison isn’t as much of a deterrence from ordering crimes against humanity when you are potentially terminally ill.

Self indulgent?

I feel it too.

I've got a hot cup of tea, I've had dinner, my cupboards are stocked. I've put the dishwasher and washing machine on, had a shower and dried my hair. I shall shortly settle down in my warm comfortable bed, reasonably confident that I will be undisturbed until morning and all the houses in my street will still be standing when I wake up. The NHS is in a poor state but I would get emergency treatment with appropriate medication if required.

I've cried many times about the situation in Gaza but it's not happening to me and so my tears do seem self indulgent.

I don't think being moved by the suffering of others is a bad thing.

ConstantastheNorthernStar · 06/03/2024 00:22

The contrast on the news between the starving Palestinians and the well-fed Israeli protesters sitting in the street to block aid trucks was pretty stark.

Efacsen · 06/03/2024 07:04

I didn't see Channel 4 news - it sounds absolutely heart-breaking

I don't know if this failed aid delivery below is the US aid which has been held up by Israel for weeks - originally to be delivered by UNWRA but refused by Smotrich in favour of the WFP

Israel blocks WFP food deliveries to northern Gaza

Israeli forces have turned back a 14-truck food aid convoy bound for northern Gaza following a three-hour wait at a checkpoint, according to the World Food Programme (WFP).

The convoy was then rerouted but later stopped by a large crowd of desperate people who looted the food and took about 200 tonnes, the UN food agency said in a statement. The incident forced the agency to airdrop food for some 20,000 people into northern Gaza, which has almost been cut off from aid since late October.

“Airdrops are a last resort and will not avert famine,” said Carl Skau, the agency’s deputy executive director. “We need entry points to northern Gaza that will allow us to deliver enough food for half a million people in desperate need.”

I've just seen that UAE have received permission to drop aid 'on the beach' in northern Gaza from boats - don't know how that will work

Efacsen · 06/03/2024 07:19

I read somewhere a US commentator saying that the only thing Israel is doing to relieve the humanitarian crisis is not shooting down the planes air-dropping food aid

Just about covers it
