Are you being sarcastic?

My first thought on reading the post too.

A terrible situation. If only Hamas had not invaded and DELIBERATELY murdered and raped people. If they had not chopped heads off of innocent Israeli citizens those poor innocent Palestinians would not be victims to collateral damage.

Terrible situation is an understatement, you have the collective punishment of the people of Gaza.

I agree with you if only Hamas had not done what it did - it was disgusting and wrong. Full stop.

Would you support me in saying if only these political leaders in Israel did not take the stance they did and do and have no intention of recognising Palestinians and their rights:

  • Finance Minister who is an illegal settler Bezalel Smotrich in March 2023 said he wanted to wipe of the Palestinian town of Huwara.
-National Security minister Ben Gvir who is another illegal settlor in the West Bank states in August 2023 “My right, the right of my wife and my children to move around Judea and Samaria is more important than freedom of movement for the Arabs.” -Defence Minister in October 2023 Yoav Gallant states “Gallant: "I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed. We are fighting human animals and we act accordingly."

Hamas actions cannot be justified. They have no place in the solution to what I naively hope would be a two state solution. With these right wing hateful individuals in power in Israel who clearly hate Palestinians, who don’t want to acknowledge their right to existence on par to them it will not be happening.

You cannot be completely blind to the history of the region, to the settlements, to organisations like Breaking the Silence where IDF soldiers give testimony of their regretful actions….

Another one to add to the list

At least nine killed after Israeli air strike hits aid truck in Deir el-Balah

This is both sad and worrying from UNICEF [15 babies have now died of starvation in hospital]

‘Child deaths we feared’ in Gaza are here: UNICEF

The UN’s children fund has warned that many more children in Gaza will die of dehydration and malnutrition unless there is direct intervention to provide assistance.

“Now, the child deaths we feared are here and are likely to rapidly increase unless the war ends and obstacles to humanitarian relief are immediately resolved,” said Adele Khodr, UNICEF regional director for MENA, in a statement.

“The sense of helplessness and despair among parents and doctors in realising that lifesaving aid, just a few kilometres away, is being kept out of reach, must be as unbearable, but worse still are the anguished cries of those babies slowly perishing under the world’s gaze. The lives of thousands more babies and children depend on urgent action being taken now.”

Further evidence that the Israeli army has no regard whatsoever for Palestinian life. It's a long thread - see it all.

Yep Daniel Hagari and half his team

Plus Benny Gantz in DC schmoozing with the Biden administration without Netanyahu's permission

What a mess

anotherlevel · 04/03/2024 09:44

Do you know why they have resigned?

Efacsen · 04/03/2024 09:45

No idea @anotherlevel

Babyboomtastic · 04/03/2024 09:47

Is there any confirmation of this? I've seen it on twitter and Instagram, but nothing more than that. It's v interesting if it is true though.

Efacsen · 04/03/2024 09:53

This is where I read it - so an unofficial Israeli source @Babyboomtastic

Top members of Israeli military’s Spokesperson’s Unit resign: Report

Senior members of the Israeli military’s Spokesperson’s Unit have resigned, including high-ranking spokesperson Daniel Hagari, according to Israel’s Channel 14.

Also among the resignations are Richard Hecht, the international spokesperson for the Israeli military.

It has not been announced how many officials have left the unit, formerly led by Hagari, but Channel 14 described the large number of resignations at once during wartime as “unusual”.

Yazan Kafarnah has died out of malnutrition this morning in Gaza. His pic has been released in the last few days to proof what kids are currently going through

Parkingt111 · 04/03/2024 10:07

@Efacsen definitely unusual especially during the war, if it is true.

Remember that Gantz is America's preferred replacement for Netanyahu. He is infinitely more "manageable".

During an interview that Professor John Mearsheimer gave last week he emphasised that a growing group in the American security apparatus see Israel as a strategic danger to American interests in the region.

Not many amusing things in this business but couldn't help but smile seeing that Netanyahu is sooo cross that he's told the Israeli embassy in DC not to accommodate Gantz during his stay

Apparently, we'll be seeing Gantz in the UK later this week so maybe he'll be onto the Israeli embassy here too

So petty

Israel with US support is a strategic danger to world interests.

Where did you see/here the interview with JM, I've really appreciated his analysis. Alistair Crooke has also been very interesting to listen to.

I can't stop thinking about this poor woman. Ten years of infertility and three rounds of IVF to have beautiful twins. They've known nothing but bombardment and war since they were born. Now they're dead, so is their father and most of their family. My heart goes out to their mother. God help her. The tragedy is beyond my comprehension.

Palestinian twins, born after 10 years of trying, killed in Israeli strike

A mother was mourning the death of her five-month-old twin babies on Sunday in Rafah, after they died in an Israeli airstrike. It took 10 years and three rou...
