The President of Ireland released a statement today which includes
”Aid that could be delivered immediately is scandalously being blocked and those responsible for doing so must take responsibility for the deaths that are ensuing,”
The Journal reports:’The president has today warned that “no one can say they didn’t know what the consequences of inaction would be” if a ceasefire is not reached soon amid reports of starvation among Gazans still living in the region.
He added that the blocking of aid trucks by “extremist settlers” is “an appalling denial of the humanity of those dying of hunger”.’

Has anybody seen this! It's absolute madness! Just seen on sky as reported from the UN that a truck load of medical aid was sent back and not allowed in to Gaza because medical scissors used for children are now in a long list of banned items that are 'dual use' according to Israel.

A truck loaded with aid has just been turned back because it had scissors used in children’s medical kits.

Medical scissors are now added to a long list of banned items the Israeli Authorities classify as “for dual use”. The list includes basic and lifesaving items: from anesthetics, solar lights, oxygen cylinders and ventilators, to water cleaning tablets, cancer medicines and maternity kits.

Does anybody know more about this? Especially about the anesthetics and cancer medicine as i can't understand why that would not be allowed in.
Or is it only WHO who is allowed to deliver this sort of aid?

I find it difficult to believe that cancer medicine for example would be barred. I'm wondering if it's delivered through WHO or another organisation. If I come across anything I will post

@Parkingt111 the restrictions on medical equipment and medications have been in place for quite a long time, and when combined with the difficulties in accessing healthcare outside of Gaza made a cancer or other serious diagnosis in Gaza a truly traumatic experience.

I remember reading about US sanctions on Iraq preventing all kinds of medicine getting through, including cancer treatment and pain killers. Whatever reason they give, I’m sure the chance to inflict maximum suffering is the real reason.

The sheer absurdity of an occupation who drops white phosphorus on a defenceless population, uses drones to shoot at civilians and drops bombs on people, housing and historical sites indiscriminately - banning something as basic as surgical scissors.

It's totally ridiculous. I read UK Govt medical supplies were turned back by Israel authorities . I think it was ventilators.
But in the UK the Govt won't even allow fund raising for Medical Aid for Palestinians. Separately to that the things I saw written under one of their fund raising posts by pro Israeli Govt supporters were beyond disgusting and repulsive.

It's not only ridiculous but the limitations on what can enter Is far worse than I initially thought. For example a truck with maternity kit with pads being sent back because it included nail clippers which comes under 'dual use'
And a truck load of sleeping bags sent back because they were green and the colour green also comes under 'dual use' as is sometimes used by the military.
One truck with food aid that had dates were sent back because of the pitted seeds!

“In no rational world could (these) be deemed dual use or any kind of military threat,” Van Hollen told CNN weeks after his trip to Egypt’s side of the Rafah crossing.
“We learned that when a truck with just one of those items is turned down, the entire truck gets turned around and has to go back to the beginning of the process, which can take weeks,” Van Hollen said.
“We talked to the heads of international aid organizations that had been working in conflicts worldwide for decades,” the senator added. “They said they’d never seen a more broken system.”

What would our government say if these comments were made by Russia, China, or any other country, we don’t seek to curry a favour with?

What incentive does this give soldiers to treat Palestinians with respect and dignity?

If a private person repeatedly made statements like this, encouraged cruelty, and arranged for the death of innocent people like these two, they would be designated a terrorist. May they one day be held accountable for their crimes.

I am being very restrained in my use of language by using the word ridiculous. They are total bastards. And the fact that BN stated that he would let minimal aid in, he then does exactly that but the pro Israel Govt supporters on here and elsewhere try and deny its happening.
