It’s just heartbreaking. I’ve seen videos on twitter that are beyond anything I can even begin to describe. Palestinians are being murdered in their thousands and the western media is largely pretending it’s not happening.

The average age of the people who have been killed in Gaza is FIVE years old.

The UK media are not showing how the Israeli government is openly talking about, and cheerleading genocide now. Israeli government speaks about Palestinians as if they are not humans. They are saying women are targets as they can have babies. I’ve just read how, since October 7th they have taken over 5,000 Palestinians from the West Bank and tortured them. They were already routinely arresting Palestinians and taking them away from their family with no reason and no but this is not being adequately reported.

Please, please visit sites such as 972 magazine and declassified uk. The BBC, etc, unfortunately aren’t reporting the extent to what is going on.

Israel and its allies are repurposing the goals and lies of 1948 – in Gaza in 2023

Israel is openly carrying out ethnic cleansing inside Gaza, driving Palestinians outside their homeland as happened in 1948. And yet, just as during the first “Nakba”, Israel's lies and deceptions dominate the West’s media and political narrative.

Despite the women and girls being Jewish.
And about the ones still being held hostage and being gang raped for weeks.

RubberPlantGirl · 21/11/2023 13:30

And may I respectfully request that we don't forget about the poor Israelis being held hostage by Hamas...if anyone happened to watch the news last night when the poor dad sobbed his heart out over his little girl who is being held by these monsters, and failed to be moved by his plight, then you really really need to question yourself. I would hope that there would be far more public support for the hostages families or that they would be given at least a mention when the pro Palestine matches are taking place each week. But nope, not a peep.

Thanks @Finallyloggedin. I totally agree.

justanothernamechangemonday · 21/11/2023 13:35

It's perfectly reasonable and possible to care about the horrendous Hamas attacks and thousands of Gaza's civilians being killed. Anyone who only cares about one of these things is a monster.

FOJN · 21/11/2023 13:42

Can anyone tell me how many Palestinians need to die in retribution for the attack on 7th October?

Is there a number which will change what happened?

Does the cruelty being meted out to the Palestinians lessen the grief of those who lost loved ones on 7th October?

It is devastating - the Israeli people murdered.

We know who they are, we see their fathers/mothers/friends weep; they are human.

They are all over our television screens and our newspapers.

Palestinians are numbers. Statistics. Anonymous. Not human.

All we can do is march for them.

Nobody wins.

@justanothernamechangemonday totally agree.

@FOJN I have wondered this too. Is there a number cheerleaders of this war feel is appropriate?

Anyone who thinks Israel is undertaking a genocide of Palestinians simply doesn't know what the word means. The only genocide planned here is of the Jews by Hamas.
Hamas cannot fight the IDF like real soldiers so their only weapon is to manipulate international public opinion to try to force a ceasefire. They do this with exaggerated and unsubstantiated claims of non-combatant casualties - blatant propaganda - on social media, exactly as the OP is trying to do here.
For Israel, ceasefire means surrender, and allowing Hamas time to regroup and re-arm before launching another 7/10.
There can be no ceasefire until the IDF have killed every Hamas murderer they can catch, and destroyed Hamas' infrastructure to the extent they can never repeat that outrage. Expect nothing less.

Finlesswonder · 21/11/2023 13:50

Can anyone point me in the direction of some Palestinian journalists calling on Hamas to release the hostages and deploring their government, or is the "seeing both sides" a one way street?

100% agree with this.

MissyB1 · 21/11/2023 13:55

@WatTyler as you well know it’s impossible to kill an ideology, there will be no “killing every Hamas murderer”. Israel are however doing an excellent job of creating more terrorists. Honestly I suspect you aren’t even kidding yourself never mind us.
This isn’t about supposedly wiping out a terrorist organisation (as I said an impossible task anyway), this is about wiping out as many Palestinians as possible. The world knows that and sees it.

Xenia · 21/11/2023 13:57

WatTyler I agree.

There is a huge amount of propaganda on MN. I thought this considered article in today's Financial Times was quite good which I just read https://on.ft.com/47i9EVl (and the FT has a lot of left wing journalists who rarely take a stance with which I might)

Israel, Oppenheimer and the laws of war

Legality and morality are not always the same thing in wartime

intherough · 21/11/2023 13:31

Agreed.

Thirded. Plus the angry mob cheering it all on when they were paraded in the streets

WishIwasElsa · 21/11/2023 14:03

I don't understand why there needs to be one or the other. What Hamas did in Israel was horrendous including the hostages they still have. But what Israel are doing now cannot be sldescribed as defensive either and is also horrendous. I stand with the innocent children and people who are caught up in this on both sides who deserve to live a life free from this violence and fear

Hamas need to release the hostages. How can Israel stop when many of their DC are being held in tunnels raped daily by Hamas.

Finallyloggedin · 21/11/2023 14:26

@caringcarer do you really believe that the Israeli government care about the hostages? They know their bombs are very likely to kill them and they are still bombing. Unfortunately, for the sick people in charge, the awful events of October 7th have provided an excuse to try to annihilate Gaza. If they cared about hostages they would have tried to keep them alive.

Looks to me that Israel is willing to ket those hostages die.

In fact - they cannot be sure that their own bombs are not killing them.

You didn't answer any of my questions.

Palestinians are not Hamas. To punish the Palestinians for crimes committed by Hamas is collective punishment.

You have no idea what is happening to the hostages but I'm sure we can agree that on top of being held hostage they will be traumatised by the Israeli bombing raids.
