Conflict in the Middle East

To find the silence about UNRWA being Hamas hypocritical

Muthaofcats · 28/01/2024 07:35

I entirely understand the discomfort seeing images coming out of Gaza; but what I don’t get is those who choose to post about it on social media or campaign expressing their horror but being totally SILENT after October 7th (before Israeli had even responded), after evidence of the sexual violence suffered by those murdered in Israel and now, after finding out that UNWRA who they have all been sending donations to, are actually Hamas who perpetrated the atrocities.

Where is the outrage from these people at UNRWA?

Why are none of these vocal people not screaming from the roof tops at how horrendous this is !?! If it was true you care about humanity, why aren’t you horrified to learn you’ve all been donating to an organisation so closely linked to the rape and murder of innocent civilians ? (And this isn’t the first time unrwa has been linked to Hamas; their HQ is a Hamas building and they’ve famously been linked to training terrorists in their schools / got into hot water for removing the hollocaust from their curriculum)

if you are one of those white privileged women who posts on social media about a cease fire (I’m talking to those of you who have never been to the ME, or studied ME history and never taken up the cause of any of the other global conflicts); why is your outrage so one sided and blinkered ? Why don’t you acknowledge the horrors of the Israeli/ Jewish people too ? If you’re really the virtuous person you purport to be by taking up this cause, why don’t you care ? Or do you believe what Hamas did and are doing and promising to keep doing (murder all Jews) is justified ?

Genuinely find it bewildering.

Amazing how easy it is to believe bad stuff about Israelis but those poor misunderstood hamas boys wouldn't use unwra as a shield and tool in their game.

I hear they've taken gullible out of the dictionary.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 06/02/2024 15:45

The justification of rape and terrorism on this thread is shocking.

You know you’ve got a problem when you feel more empathy for terrorist Islamic extremist rapists than Jewish people….

It truly is. And I’m trying to imagine who it is sat typing this stuff; do they have a daughter ? Do they have sons? It just shocks me that these are the same people calling for humanity and peace!?

I'm Muslim myself and some would be offended by your comment and call you Islamophobic. You're almost saying all Muslims are terrorists. It would be like me saying the atrocities of the Israeli government are done by Jewish people.

Please explain how ‘Islamic extremist’ is islamophobic? I think many Muslims would be extremely offended that you would class them in the same category as an Islamist extremist terrorist tbh!

My comment was in reference to the people on here apologising for Hamas, who ARE formally recognised as terrorist Islamist extremists. How is that offensive to Muslims? Ridiculous.

@Muthaofcats Where have I classed all Muslims in the same category as an Islamic extremist terrorist???

As I said I'm Muslim myself and I don't appreciate it. I'm sure you'd be calling me an antisemite if I said "the Jewish Israeli government have been murdering Palestinians in their thousands"

What stuff? It would be really helpful if you could quote this 'stuff' that you are talking about instead of making vague accusations. It gets really tiring when you are trying to have a 2 way conversation but one side won't engage in good faith and prefers to try and shame people into being quiet.

Have you spoken about Hind and her family? Have you expressed sympathy for them, worry about Hinds safety and the safety of the red crescent staff that went to try and save her? Voiced your discust that an innocent family were executed whilst trying to follow orders and flee? You started this thread about hypocrisy, have you been sticking to the same standards that you are holding other posters to?

The rape and terrorism apology on here is horrific. As is the constant need for some to fry and silence others with bleets of misinterpretation.
Antisemitism shines through.

Why are we met with antisemitism if any one doesn't agree with your opinion or gives an opposing argument in a discussion?

Because some of the “ opposing arguments “ on here suggest that the rape, kidnap, torture and murder of young and old on October 7th is, in some way , understandable because the Palestinians have been unjustly treated.

The same posters criticise Israelis for their disproportionate military response without any attempt to see why they might have been pushed beyond rational endurance .

To quote ProfessorPipsqueak “have you been sticking to the same standards that you are holding other posters to?”

I don't think anyone on here thinks Hamas are anything other than murdering terrorists. However, it is very marked that the Israeli Government makes (as yet) unsubstantiated claims about links between Hamas and UNWRA and numerous governments withdraw funding from the only agency with the capacity to distribute aid in any bulk within Gaza to desperate and starving civilians. The ICJ says there is a plausible case under the 1948 Genocide Convention against Israel, and the US continues to throw billions at them and many western countries continue to overtly support them. Investigate UNWRA by all means, but this response based on what we know for sure is disproportionate, and you must see the double standards?

quantumbutterfly · 06/02/2024 17:25

There is a double standard, Israel is held to higher accountability than hamas.

stomachameleon · 06/02/2024 17:26

Vitriolic statements are not a discussion.
It's the not allowing a difference of opinion that gets me. Some posters are empathetic and understanding, some would trawl through twenty year old articles in anglers weekly to try and hammer home a point and then scream.... bad IDF.... where is the humanity..... your not human....it's all the same over and over.
That's not a discussion.

Hostage families have been Informed that a fifth of them have been killed. 32 dead. With their bodies in Gaza.

A little understanding would go a long way. Both sides. If we can't show kindness on here what hope is there?

Just my thoughts.

Surely you agree they should be? Shouldn't a legitimate government be expected to behave better than a terrorist organization? No-one realistically expects terrorist organisations to comply with International law - the clue is in the name really. Yet to be honest the evidence at international level says something different.

To quote ProfessorPipsqueak “have you been sticking to the same standards that you are holding other posters to?”

So the Israeli forces were “pushed beyond rational endurance” but you can’t understand what happened to give reason for the atrocities on Oct 07 ? Nobody was condoning it, but more giving a view point as to why .

It seems to me that the pro-Israeli posters on this thread don’t give a monkeys as to how the Palestinians have had to live, were they not pushed beyond rational endurance as well ? It didn’t start on Oct 07 as we all know. All you have to say is but Hamas, but terrorists, but rape apologists or call everything out as antisemitism.

Oct 07 was shocking and appalling, I don’t think anyone would have not expected a response from Israel. But a response every single day since ? For the people of Gaza, they have lived through 107 X Oct 07, 107 of those days, let that sink in. They are living in their worst nightmare on a loop. They can’t just hop on a plane and escape. They are trapped and they are still living it Every. Single. Day.

racoonsinbins · 06/02/2024 17:51

@Februaryfeels there's a whole other thread about UNWRA's staff alleged involvement in 7/10 as well. @ProfessorPipsqueak is making a valid point that threads and posters with a bias towards concern over Palestinian suffering are no more hypocritical if they don't mention the UNWRA allegations than if those that have a more pro-Israel stance don't mention documented IDF actions that show them in a very negative light.
