Conflict in the Middle East

To find the silence about UNRWA being Hamas hypocritical

1000 replies

Muthaofcats · 28/01/2024 07:35

I entirely understand the discomfort seeing images coming out of Gaza; but what I don’t get is those who choose to post about it on social media or campaign expressing their horror but being totally SILENT after October 7th (before Israeli had even responded), after evidence of the sexual violence suffered by those murdered in Israel and now, after finding out that UNWRA who they have all been sending donations to, are actually Hamas who perpetrated the atrocities.

Where is the outrage from these people at UNRWA?

Why are none of these vocal people not screaming from the roof tops at how horrendous this is !?! If it was true you care about humanity, why aren’t you horrified to learn you’ve all been donating to an organisation so closely linked to the rape and murder of innocent civilians ? (And this isn’t the first time unrwa has been linked to Hamas; their HQ is a Hamas building and they’ve famously been linked to training terrorists in their schools / got into hot water for removing the hollocaust from their curriculum)

if you are one of those white privileged women who posts on social media about a cease fire (I’m talking to those of you who have never been to the ME, or studied ME history and never taken up the cause of any of the other global conflicts); why is your outrage so one sided and blinkered ? Why don’t you acknowledge the horrors of the Israeli/ Jewish people too ? If you’re really the virtuous person you purport to be by taking up this cause, why don’t you care ? Or do you believe what Hamas did and are doing and promising to keep doing (murder all Jews) is justified ?

Genuinely find it bewildering.

Not at all an apologist for terrorists. Bringing up 07 Oct in a vacuum is simplistic. Why do you think they felt the need to do this ? Let me be clear here, I’m not supporting it in anyway, but the tinder box that was created by living in blockade conditions (for their entire life in most cases) was a massive factor.

@HeyLovee So you think it’s fine to live like that ? Sure, some went to work over the border, but do you simply think they went back and forth to suit themselves ? Do you think they popped over to West Bank to visit their friends and relatives as well, hooped on a plane to take a holiday ? They were controlled in every aspect of their lives by Israel, why should they live like that ? Do you have a good answer ? The acceptance of how they had to live is appalling. They rose up in desperation, and the world as usual, did nothing.

Why do I think they felt the need to do this (rise up, rape, torture, slaughter, kidnap). Well that's not resistance. No excuses.

Absolutely untrue. It was NOT theirs first. Read the history

I have a feeling you genuinely believe this to be true, but i have no idea where to start with your complete denial of basic history? How can you really think this is true; or are you being wilfully ignorant ?

😂

why do you think Hamas felt the need to rape loads of people and kill babies and grandmothers and live stream it to their social media?

How can you be justifying this!? Even if what you believe wasn’t just factually wrong and ignoring basic global history, it still wouldn’t justify what Hamas did and what the majority support them doing ? Wake up.

Couldn't agree more or word it better!

Muthaofcats · 06/02/2024 12:08

The helpful thing about this thread is that the more the (thankfully minority) few push these sorts of opinions, the more people can see with their own eyes the insidious roots and how it is based in sheer ignorance and hatred.

Any one claiming that ‘Palestinians were there first’ or talking about Israeli ‘occupation’ or justifying Hamas mass rape and murder of innocent civilians just completely undermines themselves as credible. In the same way there can’t be negotiation with a terrorist, I’m afraid it’s hard to have a conversation with a racist terrorist sympathiser either, what’s the point when you’re living in a complete fantasy world and our basic starting point of what is even true is at odds!?

There are plenty of legitimate arguments one could be levying about Israel, Netanyahu and his motivations and proportionality of response etc and I’m absolutely here for discussing those - certainly the majority of Israeli citizens are having similar conversations about that - but literally not even the ICJ is suggesting that Israeli doesn’t have the right to defend themselves from Hamas right now…so why would you even try to argue this, unless you were revealing yourself to be an anti semite / Islamist extremist / or even worse, uneducated westerner who uses tik tok and insta memes and propaganda as some sort of virtue signalling identity project, without even the most rudimentary of attempts to educate and inform themselves about global politics and Middle Eastern history and the dangers perpetuating propoganda in this way has for actual real human beings lives not just in the ME but in the west too…?!

As I’ve now repeated several times, this thread is about the startling hypocrisy of western ‘liberals’ anger with Israel’s response to 7/10 and their vocal outrage about the situation in Gaza in direct contrast with their absolute silence about the hostages, evidence of rape, murder of innocent civilians, threats by heads of a state to continue to murder Israelis given half the chance and now claims of UNRWA links to Hamas. It is questioning why these people’s humanity has a blind spot and how frustrating it is to see ‘educated’ westerners spreading misinformation and propoganda online without accepting the damage it is doing.

If you would like to create your own thread, please go right ahead.

Also, nice side stepping of the point there. Funny how any time someone says something you don’t want to hear it is ‘derailment’ whilst it is fine to continue to let people make wholly ignorant claims about basic Middle Eastern history or justify terrorist atrocities (which really isn’t the point of this thread)

You’ve obviously not lived in there for most of your life then. I’m not condoning any of it I’m giving reasons why the oppressed Gazan’s felt they had no hope and this is what we ended up with.

quantumbutterfly · 06/02/2024 13:44

The difference between a reason and an excuse is when you have a choice.

Again, “killing babies” !! It was one baby, that has been proven, AND one baby is far too many babies, but throwing out false accusations like this, is it any wonder people question the evidence. Keep to the truth and the people will believe you more.
Oh……and how many thousands of babies have actually been killed in Gaza since 0ct 07.

@Livinginanotherworld

You have said "They rose up in desperation"

That sounds like rape and terrorism apology.

Do you think what Hamas did was justified?

Read my words, not your twisted interpretations !
I clearly stated I did not condone it. I gave my opinion on why they may have felt they had no options, the pressure cooker exploded with devastating consequences for everybody.

Februaryfeels · 06/02/2024 14:13

@Livinginanotherworld There's no need to be so rude

It's hardly "twisted" to read your words "they rose up in desperation" and infer a degree of sympathy

But if you're saying that's not what you meant, fair enough.

They are just that though 'claims' of links between UNRWA and Hamas. Most people agreed it should be investigated. So far Israel have provided no credible evidence.

We could talk about the hypocrisy of silence on the other side. Why are some people so heartbroken by 7/10 but seem completely indifferent to what is happening to Palestinians? Just look at the thread on Hind. A little girl who went through something horrific and has yet to be found. I haven't seen anyone who has professed to be heartbroken by the actions of Hamas on 7/10 post anything sympathetic or denounce what happened to the car full of innocent people who were trying to flee for their lives. I'm not up for people demanding double standards. Have you denounced the actions of the IDF?

What, I was being rude ? Whilst you were clearly inferring I was a terrorist supporter and a rape apologist ?
I think I was quite restrained considering.

Agree. Why aren’t more people angry with the decisions taken on 7/10 by idf (and this decisions weren’t taking by reservists but by high level in idf ones). Many lives could have been saved on 7/10

I think it's because they do not see the suffering of Palestinians equal to that of Israelis. There should never be a hierarchy of empathy all innocent people who have been murdered, raped, abused, starved or kidnapped deserve our empathy and anger no one is safe from persecution until everyone is safe.
