Conflict in the Middle East

To find the silence about UNRWA being Hamas hypocritical

Muthaofcats · 28/01/2024 07:35

I entirely understand the discomfort seeing images coming out of Gaza; but what I don’t get is those who choose to post about it on social media or campaign expressing their horror but being totally SILENT after October 7th (before Israeli had even responded), after evidence of the sexual violence suffered by those murdered in Israel and now, after finding out that UNWRA who they have all been sending donations to, are actually Hamas who perpetrated the atrocities.

Where is the outrage from these people at UNRWA?

Why are none of these vocal people not screaming from the roof tops at how horrendous this is !?! If it was true you care about humanity, why aren’t you horrified to learn you’ve all been donating to an organisation so closely linked to the rape and murder of innocent civilians ? (And this isn’t the first time unrwa has been linked to Hamas; their HQ is a Hamas building and they’ve famously been linked to training terrorists in their schools / got into hot water for removing the hollocaust from their curriculum)

if you are one of those white privileged women who posts on social media about a cease fire (I’m talking to those of you who have never been to the ME, or studied ME history and never taken up the cause of any of the other global conflicts); why is your outrage so one sided and blinkered ? Why don’t you acknowledge the horrors of the Israeli/ Jewish people too ? If you’re really the virtuous person you purport to be by taking up this cause, why don’t you care ? Or do you believe what Hamas did and are doing and promising to keep doing (murder all Jews) is justified ?

Genuinely find it bewildering.

@stomachameleon
Peace activists who worked hard to improve relations with Gazan's where raped and murdered in their beds. Caught out by information provided by those they trusted.

Are you saying that the victims of October 7th personally knew the terrorists that attacked their homes? That seems implausible. Out of over 2 million people, there are going to be Palestinian peace activists too. These are the people most likely to associate on friendly terms with Israelis, not the terrorists. It’s not like the terrorists didn’t have access to Google maps either. They didn’t need spies to get work permits to go into Israel to find Jewish settlements and get information from Jewish residents. It’s not the days of Sun Tzu.

@Polka83 so they couldn't be repurposed for.... water?
Is it not infantilising to pass the buck all the time and expect Israel to be responsible? Is Hamas not responsible for not using any of the billions in aid to provide or procure the most basic of all needs?

Israel controls the water supply as part of the blockade. They had built desalination plants with aid money- all bombed by Israel repeatedly before and after Oct 7th because part of the occupation is water occupation.

The same with electricity, food, medicine.

So I copied the link for UNwatch as I presumed Israeli bias would be an accusation, I also note that many other countries oversee it's remit.
Try harder.

Weren't water pipes dug up by hamas to repurpose as mortars?

Yes. Now they are using IDF shells fired on them and firing them back at IDF.

“Israeli defence and intelligence agencies have determined that a large portion of the armaments used by Hamas during the war on Gaza are actually sourced from the Israeli military, according to a New York Times report on Sunday.

The common belief perpetuated by Israel is that Hamas maintains its arsenal through underground smuggling, despite Israel’s almost two-decade long blockade of Gaza.

However, new intelligence reveals that Hamas has been constructing a significant portion of its rockets and anti-tank weapons using unexploded ordinance from Israeli strikes, according to weapons experts and Israeli and Western intelligence officials.

This means that weapons that Israeli forces have deployed throughout its numerous assaults on Gaza for the past 17 years are now being turned against them by Hamas.“Unexploded ordnance is a main source of explosives for Hamas,” said Michael Cardash, the former deputy head of the Israeli National Police Bomb Disposal Division to the NYT.“They are cutting open artillery bombs from Israel, and a lot of them are being … repurposed for their explosives and rockets,” he added.Weapons experts suggest that about 10 percent of munitions usually don't explode. However, for Israel, with some of its US-made munitions going back to the era of the Vietnam war, the rate might be as high as 15 percent, as per intelligence sources cited by the NYT.”

You also copied the link from Wiki which says the same as the media bias fact check website too. It’s not an accusation, it’s a matter of record.

It almost sounds like you admire them....despite the retribution they have brought on innocents. Surely not.

I have just quoted Michael Cardash, the former deputy head of the Israeli National Police Bomb Disposal Division

Those were his words.

You don’t like them so you go for the “you admire Hamas” personal attack instead of taking on board the fact that Hamas is doing the equivalent of catching a hand grenade and lobbing it back.

I cut and pasted his name and job title. I didn’t add any capital letters. Did you also miss the first sentence I quoted:

“Israeli defence and intelligence agencies have determined that a large portion of the armaments used by Hamas during the war on Gaza are actually sourced from the Israeli military”

You are accusing Israeli defence and intelligence agencies and Michael Cardash, the former deputy head of the Israeli National Police Bomb Disposal Division of all admiring Hamas.

That is ridiculous.

How far before.....suicide bombers, continuous rocket attacks, stabbings, car rammings in Israel in the name of intifada.
In UK and abroad ..hatred of Israel by people I met who had no skin in the game other than identifying Palestine as a Muslim 'country' oppressed by invaders from Europe (let's ignore mizrahim) and more recently as a 'white' country.
Targeting of Israelis or Jewish people all over the world in the name of Palestine.
People I knew openly claiming that 9/11 was a Jewish conspiracy days after it happened while we were still in shock that it could happen at all.
Yes Gazan people deserve better, I try to see both sides, do you?

That is somewhat selective and completely ignoring/disregarding what has been happening in Palestine and to the population there

120 days + 75 years of this war and still the same question. Don’t you get bored of always asking the same question to those that don’t agree with you? Is this the only thing you can say to those that have a different opinion to you?

The question I want to be answered is when will the innocent Israeli hostages be released by Hamas and their abductors brought to justice.

Im not Hamas so probably my answer it’s not when it happens but probably when those Palestinians in Israel prisons that have not had a court or a fair court are released.
