Conflict in the Middle East

To find the silence about UNRWA being Hamas hypocritical

Muthaofcats · 28/01/2024 07:35

I entirely understand the discomfort seeing images coming out of Gaza; but what I don’t get is those who choose to post about it on social media or campaign expressing their horror but being totally SILENT after October 7th (before Israeli had even responded), after evidence of the sexual violence suffered by those murdered in Israel and now, after finding out that UNWRA who they have all been sending donations to, are actually Hamas who perpetrated the atrocities.

Where is the outrage from these people at UNRWA?

Why are none of these vocal people not screaming from the roof tops at how horrendous this is !?! If it was true you care about humanity, why aren’t you horrified to learn you’ve all been donating to an organisation so closely linked to the rape and murder of innocent civilians ? (And this isn’t the first time unrwa has been linked to Hamas; their HQ is a Hamas building and they’ve famously been linked to training terrorists in their schools / got into hot water for removing the hollocaust from their curriculum)

if you are one of those white privileged women who posts on social media about a cease fire (I’m talking to those of you who have never been to the ME, or studied ME history and never taken up the cause of any of the other global conflicts); why is your outrage so one sided and blinkered ? Why don’t you acknowledge the horrors of the Israeli/ Jewish people too ? If you’re really the virtuous person you purport to be by taking up this cause, why don’t you care ? Or do you believe what Hamas did and are doing and promising to keep doing (murder all Jews) is justified ?

Genuinely find it bewildering.

I feel it is completely irresponsible to pull aid from starving people.

It was a suggestion mainly to make the point that pulling aid from UNWRA without an alternative to feed starving people and provide medical supplies will lead directly to people dying so other options have to be implemented to ensure aid gets through asap

So take it up with those who are responsible for the people of Gaza, their government. It's disgusting that you're turning your anger on western nations who refuse to fund terrorism rather than on those who actually have responsibility for what's happening.

WSJ reported 190 employees are Hamas operatives, 1200 (10%) have direct links to Hamas or other terrorist groups, and around 50% have a close link.

If it came to light that almost 1000 Met officers were undercover terrorist operatives and 25000 were supporters they be defunded before you could say 'WTF!'

  1. the WSJ got those numbers straight from Israeli intelligence. Basically the same people that have calculated the number of dead hamas at exactly the same as the number of killed adult men, meaning they consider all adult men to be Hamas. Hardly a reliable source. We've seen the doctored 'evidence' they've produced (not just my opinion but verified many times now and historically).

  2. the 50% is having a family member with a close link claim. Again, it's come from a very unreliable source with form for lying. But also I'm a country with a high birthrate it would be unsurprising if a lot of people had a brother, cousin, uncle etc with links to Hamas, just by virtue of numbers.

Let's look at those numbers in a simple hypothetical situation. Remember, the birthrate is v high in Gaza. Take a married couple with 6 adult kids. This couple have 5 siblings each, (so are 1 of 6), and each of their siblings have 6 children. That couple would have 6 of their own children, 60 nieces and nephews, 10 siblings between them, and 4 parents. That's 80 people. Given it's Gaza and you can't easily leave, they'd likely be closer than we might be to cousins etc. A person in Gaza can easily have 30-100+ close family members. Statistically, quite a lot will know someone with a link to Hamas. It doesn't make then Hamas.

  1. Are you seriously suggesting that in the situation you post, we'd abolish the police? I don't mean getting the army in, or renaming it, but just instantly defunding it so that no crime could be pursued? There'd be total breakdown in public order.

Are you seriously suggesting that immediate action wouldn't be taken? That we'd leave terrorists in charge of law and order?

Are you for real? Disgusting to be angry at Western nations for funding terrorism? I am talking about providing aid to help starving people. You are also suggesting that Gazans look to terrorists for help? Hamas? They are innocent civilians caught up in conflict they are not in any position to advocate for themselves as they get maimed, killed and are starving. I am pretty disturbed with how cruel and unreasonable you sound.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 01/02/2024 11:05

Where do you get your numbers?

Which numbers?

The ones for how many Hamas the IDF say they have killed?
That's all available publicly if you look for it

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 01/02/2024 11:16

To refute the numbers provided, the numbers what led to to the aid being suspended, you ought to have a solid source.

Do you?

Only 12, it's repeated over and over again. How do you know that?

12 have been suspended pending investigation. That's public knowledge, and accepted by UNRWA (who have done the suspending). The allegations that it was much more widespread came from Israeli intelligence, who have at best a mixed record when it comes to the truth.

Exactly. Ridiculous to suspend aid funding when we have no idea what is going on. Some 'intelligence' from Israel who have been gunning for UNRWA(quite literally given the amount of UNRWA workers they have killed) for a long time. Until some kind of independent review is carried out feeding starving men, women and children to prevent famine should be the top priority.

queenofarles · 01/02/2024 12:22

I think Humanitarian Aid can be supplied easily through Countries like Kuwait , KSA , Qatar, and other countries that didn’t suspend their aid through UNRWA .

Its the Day after that will be so challenging , I hear a lot about the next day in Gaza Scenarios, and who will help rebuild it,

So what if China and Russia decide to fund the reconstruction of Gaza ? , Will The US and the rest of the western world be ok with it? Will they be fine with Chinese presence in the area?

Most of Gaza is in rubble and seeing how China is heavily involved in 35 countries in Africa, a small place like Gaza is nothing to them.

and it actually goes deeper than that and serves Russia and China more than it does Gaza.

Both were not pleased with the Indo European corridor that pass through Israel , so this could strengthen the Chinese and Russian presence by funding the Suez Canal and securing the Yemeni ports and horn of Africa Ports , through development and operation.
In away it serves so many countries , it’s too good to not accept it, if the offer is presented.

Not really, they seem to have more reliable numbers which led to the suspension.

You don't.

Unfortunately due to the blockade, there is no aid there. Trying to blame Palestinians for requiring aid due to being bombed nonstop is really quite concerning.

I will never understand how some people can be quite content, almost gloating, about people being left to starve and to die from preventable health issues. These are children we are talking about. Babies. Women. Men. Yet some people seem to want them to be left with absolutely nothing. That is barbaric.

And if it is reliable, do you really think it justifies starving children to death?

No, your numbers are not reliable.

The dossier presented by WSJ is being investigated, but it seems governments currently trust it more.

You can argue with me, it won’t change anything.

I know. I find the majority of pro Israeli posters are more concerned with one upmanship than considering the suffering of innocent people. No matter what side you are coming from I just cannot understand that. We are all equal humans inhabiting this planet and we should all be concerned with the suffering we are currently witnessing especially when it is preventable

Well, it is now apparently down to four. As reported today.

Again, very interesting timing for the intial release of this.

Meanwhile children, women and men are dying due to lack of aid.

Completely agree with you. There has been a complete lack of regard for the ongoing suffering.

I think that due to some believing that others aren't equal to them is behind an awful lot of this. Which is horrendous as we are all the same at the end of the day. We all have our hopes and dreams.... we're all human beings.

The thought of people believing that other people's lives aren't worth as much as their own, particularly when it is children, is incredibly disturbing.

It has not stopped yet
UNWRA estimate they've enough to last until mid Feb.
It has been well reported and evidenced on these threads that a lot of aid is held up at the Rafah crossing and no where enough is getting through.
