There's a lot of misinformation/propaganda spreading around and this thread is to raise awareness of the ones circulating. Here's one for example:

Please share any you come across.

It doesn't surprise me. They are well versed in the art of propaganda.

For more clarity, here's what's the insta post about:

"Here is a video of a woman who claims to be in Gaza, a nurse at the Shifa Hospital while it's being bombed, speaking a mix of English, "Arabish" and with al distinctly Hebrew accent.

Every staff member of the hospital who was asked have said they never seen her before, and that they had no idea who she was, they all identified her language, mode of speaking, vocabulary, and accent as being non-Gazan, non-Palestinian."

whatswrongwiththeworldddd · 13/11/2023 18:08

It really isn't surprising. But what is surprising is the amount of people that fall for it.

Thanks for clarifying what was in the video.

Am watching the bbc news reporting on the marches. The discussion was all about the gaza march, which they said there was on 70 yr old who threw paint and a woman carrying a disgusting antisemitic banner. Both had their faces shown. There was not one word about the right wing thugs who caused violence and fought with police. None of their faces were shown.
Now they are interviewing jewish people about their fears of living in the UK. Not one word from Palestinian people living here. Not one.

The bias against Palestinians is awful.

Shame on the BBC.

BorgQueen · 13/11/2023 18:22

The BBC have just this minute shown footage purporting to be from the hospital, Mr fucking FAFO is running around in the background, I saw it days ago!

ssd · 13/11/2023 18:22

The BBC said there were a total of 7 arrests from the marches. They didn't say how many were from the far right. My ds was at the whole march and said it was completely peaceful. NOT what was/is reported.

Bendysnap · 13/11/2023 18:23

Are Palestinian people living in the UK being targeted and subject to abuse while they’re out and about (like Jewish people are)? Genuine question, as I don’t know.

DrinkingMyWaterMindingMyBiz · 13/11/2023 18:24

@Bendysnap

Muslims in general are, yes. Here’s an example: https://x.com/hellaethics/status/1723424171466608905?s=46

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/11/2023 18:31

Let's be honest, the far right 'counter-protest' people are far more of a risk to both Jews and Muslims than either of the 'sides' are to each other.

Flightorflounder · 13/11/2023 18:37

Totally agree, lots of misinformation so thank you for starting this thread. But i did see the bbc report the arrests and say the majority of arrests and disruption was from the far right counter protests.

Certainfailure · 13/11/2023 18:38

@MrsTerryPratchett let’s be honest you don’t really know do you. If you follow any Jewish SM sites you’ll see that anti semitism is a bit of a free for all now. All and sundry are quite open in their disdain, using this conflict to express their feelings about Jews. Some of the stuff going on in Unis is disgusting. And folk suggesting that there is a bias against Palestinians are deluded. Literally every thread on this board is pro Palestinian and anyone who thinks differently is rounded on pretty quick.

Most are afraid to say they are Palestinian due to being gaslit for years. The chef Sami Tamimi has written about receiving death threats and being a terrorist sympathiser.

Al Jazeera. Well, that’ll be totally unbiased. 🙄

MonsieurCrapeau · 13/11/2023 18:48

Anti-Semitic attacks have increased by 1000%. I can’t count the number of posts sneering about ‘the Jews’ feeling afraid. The anti-semitism is so near the surface and this conflict is giving it air. I am in various groups and the vitriol, calling for Israel to be wiped off the map, is awful.

Exactly ffs this is nothing to do with us.

Why don't you go and campaign against all the other wars. There are 32 last time I looked.

It's just weird the obsession by those with no skin in the game.

whatswrongwiththeworldddd · 13/11/2023 18:48

A few friends of mine attended the marches and they also said it was peaceful. I saw their videos too.
Unfortunately a lot of people misunderstand the reason behind the marches. They're not hate marches as the lovely Cruella de Braverman said it was. They're peaceful marches calling for the ceasefire. It's not about religion or race but it's a humanity call. Sadly if you're pro Palestine it is mistaken for being antisemitic.

Your government is literally supporting Palestinians being killed. How is that not bias against Palestinians? Imagine how they must feel living in country where the government thinks their lives are worth nothing. You must also have seen the posters here that insist that Palestinians have 'hate in their dna'? There has been lots of horrendously racist posts towards Palestinians deleted.

When any govment or group knows the usefulness of the mainstreem media and differnt propaganda methods, then the philosophy study as much as possibl but trust nothing as 100% as a certainy.
