There's a lot of misinformation/propaganda spreading around and this thread is to raise awareness of the ones circulating. Here's one for example:

As if that would matter to some on social media Hmm

I do think it’s worth remembering that most people share this stuff believing it is true. Someone linking a person who shared to full fact might be an opportunity for them to reflect on whether they should be a bit more critical about what they share. The people who create this stuff know it’s false but people who share mostly believe them to be true. The posts cleverly play on people’s cognitive biases and people share without giving them much thought.

BBC news showed faked footage on tonight’s 6 o clock news;
The segment on the Hospital situation, included footage I saw on twitter days ago with Mr FAFO (the fakest Hamas propaganda faker of all) in the background. The girl with ‘blood’ all over her face is part of that footage, they’d blurred out the ‘bodies’ but they are there in all their fake glory on twitter.
Go onto twitter and search for his antics if you don’t believe me.
How can anyone believe anything Hamas are spouting, least of all the casualty figures ?

Are seriously saying that what's happening in Gaza is fake? I've seen children with their legs hanging by a piece of thread LITERALLY. Bodies mutilated. Headless children. I could go on. Nothing blurred out. There's nothing fake about that at all.

War is ugly. People did. had Hamas not invaded Israel Hamas would not have brought this down upon its people. It knew what it was doing. It is reaping what it sowed.

Although it is losing the battle, Israel has played right into their hands and they are winning the long game.

Israel’s reputation is in tatters internationally, Israel’s leader is likely to be ousted and tried for war crimes, any chance of normalisation with it's Arab neighbours is over and it is losing the support of its European allies. The veil has lifted from almost every average person’s eyes of what kind of ‘democracy’ of double standards it is. In addition, Israel’s economy is suffering as war is expensive

It is also true that for every bomb Israel drops a dozen new angry terrorists are born and many of whom are not even in Palestine so completely out of Israel’s control. So after all this Israelis people will live in even more fear than they did to date.

when this first happened I thought how stupid Hamas are but as it develops I can see they were clearly playing the long game and knew the nature of their oppressors too well.

I agree with you misinformation from any side makes the situation worse

Both sides have a long history of spin and properganda. No different from any other political situation. People that think one side always telling the truth are very easily manipulated.

It would have been good to have a thread to discuss misinformation actually. Definitely a lot of users about that could learn a thing or two. So damaging to be posting links without checking multiple sources for accuracy.

I'd like to think so, Takoneko, but it worries me that even when pieces have been shown to be false they're still reposted time and again

And that's understandable if it's from someone else who perhaps didn't see what had been debunked, but too often it's the original posters repeating them (though fortunately HQ continue to be very good at dealing with this)

I don’t know about the authenticity of that particular clip but you are naive if you think that all of the videos being shared from Gaza are genuine. Full fact have found a number of viral videos or photos purportedly showing atrocities in Gaza are in fact not from Gaza at all. There have been a number that were actually from Syria and others claiming to be Gaza that were from Bahrain, Sudan, Algeria and Ukraine. Both sides need to be more critical before sharing posts.
