She purposely riled everyone up about the protests and now there are far right and football hooligans planning to counter riot and incite violence.
This is known by the police hence the heightened police presence on the day.

However it's now going to look like it's because of the pro Palestine march even though they are not planning to go anywhere near the cenotaph and its just a peaceful protest.

I guess when people attempt to defend the indefensible e.g. bombing of hospitals, collective punishment, carpet bombing, killing babies and innocent civilians in the thousands etc with an approximate 0.5% Hamas actual hit rate, these puerile playground style "useful idiot" insults or "but Hamas" are about all these people can manage.

And no I do not support Hamas.

Coveescapee · 12/11/2023 19:13

Well yes we all oppose the war. Its just we would feel uncomfortable to march alongside Hamas supporters and would be appealing to Hamas to release the hostages if we did (although would be at risk of being attacked as that poor man was yesterday). I made no link between Hamas and hijabs so not sure what you are on about @Readingallnight

This.

I apologise, useful idiots isn't kind. Slightly naive individuals might be better way of putting it then.

A pro Palestine march isn't a call for a ceasefire or call for peace is it. I wish peace marches would be genuine peace marches, not one side or the other. A call for peace, a call for both sides to stop fighting but with the Hamas intention which they keep repeating to destroy Israel isnt likely sadly. A call to release hostages.

The extremists do hide amongst the naive individuals.

Put down the flags for a side, the colours of one side, the fireworks, thd paint, be neutral and call for peace instead. Call out the ones in face covering masks (not women in hijabs obviously), the ones who attack the people who call out Hamas for what they are.

I wonder how many peace marchers would feel safe to hold a anti Hamas banner. Would they be surrounded by men pushing and shoving and hitting....what does that say to the naive individuals? Why if only a peace march!

Even with the many posts about peace marches I’d be interested if anyone on mn would carry an anti Hamas banner

To answer for me, no chance.

This place is so annoying people don't read posts properly. I just pointed out that there were people dressed as Hamas there I didn't say anything about hijab that was @Creatingusernamesismygame . And the useful idiots I was referring to was the media going on about Tommy Robinson while people on the Palestinian march held hateful signs and dressed in Hamas masks. Although actually yes I do think alot of the people on the march are idiots who know nothing about the issues, that has been proved by some of the interviews done with them.

Pretty sure you said you thought wearing face coverings was disrespectful to Jews because it created fear. But I think that post of yours has been deleted. So, I simply asked does the niqab count too? As it’s a face covering too.

Coveescapee · 12/11/2023 19:32

Thank you @Noelectricheating you have put it much better than me. I do think alot of these people think it's all about them and showing what great people they are whilst failing to notice the people they're marching with.

hulahello · 12/11/2023 19:36

@Coveescapee from the far right march, 18% of these were arrested, approx.

From the pro-Palestine side, 0.00004% of the total attendees were arrested.

How do you propose vetting 850,000 people to ensure every single one aligns with your values 100% before marching? It's entirely impractical.

By all means, don't join a march whereby the majority or even a significant minority are marching for something you don't agree with.

But to avoid a march for a cause you are committed to because 0.00004% of attendees there might have a differing reason, is totally impractical and ridiculous.

Saffrom · 12/11/2023 00:29

I’m so pissed off with everyone marching. There’s a hideous unsolvable conflict in the Middle East, why the hell start importing it here?

Our government can do fuck all to stop Israel. Marching here is just displacement activity/ virtue signalling. If you wanna be useful go join an aid agency.

Religious fanatics.

No I didn't say anything like that- the post that was deleted was pointing out the number killed by far right in the UK v the number killed by Islamists. No idea why it was deleted. To make it clear(can't believe I'm being asked to) I have no problem with scarves and hijab but DO have a problem with Hamas headgear .

Exactly
Then the poster connected Muslim clothing with hamas.
Its simple comprehension,
a admission of the mistake would have sufficed

Not understanding why your post was deleted is part of the problem.
It was reported as hate speech and Islamaphobic and covered more than you are claiming.
Just as your connection between religious clothing and hamas has also not been missed by other posters.

They should’ve played it safe and said no protests today on armistice today …I saw a poster advertising bus seats to bring people to London to have a million people March for Palestine. That size is going to cause problems and why today it just adds fuel to the situation …

General Sir Richard Dannat nailed it, he said he spoke to 2 D-Day veterans today about all of this and they both said "We landed in Normandy so people would have the right to protest"

Not really for us that didn't fight in WW2 to tell others they cannot protest.

Bravermann couldn't give a $x$x about Remembrance Day, she has stirred up this shit for her own families pro Israel/anti Palestine agenda and to further her career, she is a disgrace to the office of Home Secretary.

I find “we see you” is a bit irritating as well. Dunno if it’s meant to sound menacing but it just sounds high and mighty.

@Reallifelurker Ha! I try to use it sparingly, both positively and negatively in recognition of what I’m seeing. I don’t mean it to sound menacing but I guess it could be a bit pompous. Still like using it though, it’s succinct.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/11/2023 19:54

Thank you for linking that deeply insightful article at 17.06, @Jupitersstorm; even though it came from the blasted Mail, its value was in relating actual experiences among police

For anyone willing to look and listen I doubt the imposition of "light touch policing" will come as any surprise - after all we've witnessed it often enough, from Rotherham to Covid, from BLM marches to the current protests and god knows how many more

Shame for anyone who trusts that they really do want to identify those actively calling for violence at the marches, but there you go

EasternStandard · 12/11/2023 19:55

Since we’re doing annoying mn lines I’ll add ‘but Hamas’ in any discussion

It’s so mumsnet. As if a terrorist organisation in power with evidenced barbarism isn’t a major issue

That's because I didn't. And wasn't islamophobic just pointing fact about why dressing as Hamas would make people fearful. Seems like pointing out the hate on these marches upsets those who think they have right on their side so make things up. Like another poster I wish they would stop with taking over central London every week and find something more purposeful to do with their lives.

Thankfully we still live in a free country and people like you cannot dictate what is purposeful or not.

Bravo!
Personally I think calling for peace when people are being killed is one of the most purposeful things to do.
Im very proud of making that effort

Coveescapee · 12/11/2023 20:25

As you know @Thekirit if you got that post deleted I said nothing linking hamas to hijab so you are outright lying. Obviously I can't prove that as you got my post deleted for pointing out numbers killed by islamists versus far right. Not sure what your motivation is.
