As many of us have said here
Even wars have rules

bellac11 · 31/10/2023 20:37

Why is there the need to be so aggressive to me

I have not said, and I dont believe its a brilliant plan

I merely pointed out the flawed assumption that 'women and children' are completely separate to Hamas

I suggest if you're not able to engage in reasonable discourse without putting words and intent in peoples mouths and being hostile, then leave the thread.

The vast majority of posters are able to have discussion without being rude and trying to start angry arguments out of nothing. Try it.

Um, we're witnessing genocide. People get upset. It's a normal human reaction to seeing others, including little kids, being slaughtered.

I feel like I'm living in the Twilight Zone.

I have jewish ancestry but in supporting the Israeli practices the UK is on the wrong side of history here

Thank you. The wrong side of history is spot on.

But who enforces the rules? 🤔

Netanyahu's obviously lost the plot. They have nuclear weapons though. I know another guy just like him in Russia 🫣

What the hell is going wrong with this decade?

More to the point, why is the world sitting back and allowing this to happen?

What do you think the world should do?

It's a massive shit show!
To bomb refugees is disgusting
To use refugees as human shields disgusting
It's not going to get any better any time soon.

@bellac11 you may find this article in the guardian interesting
It talks about the impact of war on children and focuses on Gaza

Growlybear83 · 31/10/2023 20:50

I think israel should be told to stop their genocide, withdraw from Gaza immediately, and abide by the many UN resolutions that they have ignored for years.

Parkingt111 · 31/10/2023 20:51

@bellac11 it's a topic that most people don't actually want to talk about
Might be good to have a separate thread on it

What do you think the world should do?

Stop giving Israel money and arms (US). The out of control toddler has grown up and is an out of control adult now. What do you tell the parents? Stop bankrolling them?

Yes absolutely.

Ive worked with many child soldiers as part of my client group over the years, not from Palestine but other parts of the world and Ive said on many a thread that the circumstances are a fertile breeding ground for terrorism and fight.

There are no easy answers to this.

Glarptip · 31/10/2023 20:53

War isn't nice, these days.

Don't start one.

Yes you are right
Again I don't have the answers for it either
But it's definitely something that needs to be taken into account when people talk about how many youth may be supporting Hamas
I can't find it now but I read somewhere that many of the Hamas soldiers are actually Orphans
Whose parents have been killed in previous wars with Israel and now justify their actions as revenge
Ofcourse I do not believe these actions are justified

PTSDBarbiegirl · 31/10/2023 20:56

Absolutely heart breaking. I am at a loss to understand any of this. Terrorism on one side and then genocide on the other. The destruction of innocent human beings is unforgivable and anyone supporting these actions is surely supporting terror tactics. Ceasefire and peace talks must be supported by international community and a solution that does not involve ethnic cleansing in the region. The UK had a hand in this mess over last 100 years so now need to work for peace.

The psychological impact on children in war

Around 90% of children visiting paediatric hospitals complain of anxiety. Many are suffering from anxiety, and it’s certainly something we haven’t seen in the past. The recognition is beginning to dawn that this issue will be much more prolonged than before,” Grossman said.
In Gaza, a child aged 15 has experienced five periods of intense bombardment in their life: 2008-9, 2012, 2014, 2021 and now 2023.
Studies conducted after earlier conflicts have shown a majority of children in Gaza exhibiting symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Did anyone watch the channel 4 news from the West Bank last night? They were reporting on the Palestinians being kicked out of their houses, one family were told they had 24 hours to leave then they would be shot! It was heartbreaking.

I seem it. And i found the youngish Israeli couple absolutely chilling. They said no one is innocent in Gaza, not even the children. As for the Israeli official, omg. Hard as stone.

gratedbluecheese · 31/10/2023 21:02

@MissyB1 and sadly this is a regular occurrence in the West Bank going back years and years not just the last few days.

I didn’t see this. But my Israeli colleague last week said, ‘the Israelis in the W Bank are nutters’. I didn’t ask him what he meant as he was distressed about his brother going to work in security on the border there and I was trying to be supportive. Maybe he meant this kind of attitude.

icewoman · 31/10/2023 17:44

Its horrific, but lets wait until the details are verified before we start chucking around blame - remember the hospital, Isreal was blamed, it turned out to be a missile from within gaza

Details have been confirmed @icewoman tho guess we will have to wait until they realise they’ve cocked it up one more time , they remove the post and they create new fake information blaming Hamas on this one

Why is Israeli bombing refugee camps in Gaza?
Roste · 31/10/2023 21:14

With a government bombing refugee camps it’s not surprising some civilians will feel it’s an open house to do whatever they want. Palestinians in the West Bank don’t stand a chance and I expect already sense their days are marked once the ethnic cleansing in Gaza has been completed.

Doctors without Borders are doing amazing work in Gaza
They too have put out a statement after being horrified by the attack
