CEASEFIRE NOW!

starfleet · 31/10/2023 21:56

@bellac11 interesting re the child soldiers. I haven't got the link but there was a recent article about 90% of the mujhadeen (Lebanon/Yemen/Syria) being orphans - a lot of them originally from Palestine having lost all of their family members when they were very young.

It's a fucking tragic situation. I don't know what the answer is. Isreal are going to keep bombing and killing, Hamas will retaliate. Many many more innocent people will die and so it goes. A never ending circle of shit. I hate it.

Zygoma · 31/10/2023 21:59

I read an article in the Times of Israel about this where they spoke of the successful bombing of an ‘Hamas stronghold’. And sorrow for the two IDF soldiers who were killed. They did not mention the refugee camp once that I could see. War is all about propaganda.

Parkingt111 · 31/10/2023 21:59

Seven to eight missiles on a REFUGEE CAMP
I still can't fathom how people are trying to justify it

This is the Jerusalem Post

IDF takes command of Hamas military stronghold in west Jabalya in Gaza - Israel News - The Jerusalem Post (jpost.com)

If you read to the end, you will see mention of 50 people being killed by the Israeli bomb.

The IDF also killed 50 Hamas terrorists in the Jabalya area of the Gaza Strip.

@CatsArePawesome I posted something very similar on another thread earlier today. The US and Isreal have a definite plan for Gaza. It is so sinister. They know there are large gas and oil reserves. The people of Gaza didn't ( I assume?) have the financial resources to mine. Imagine if they could - it's worth $trillions. Isreal currently have no access to it so by wiping out Gaza???

WhereAreWeNow · 31/10/2023 22:09

It's horrific what's happening. It's genocide. A ceasefire is urgently needed.

Just watching the BBC News that poor man who has lost all his children 😢

MyrtleHope · 31/10/2023 22:19

No it didn’t, it’s still disputed.

How awfully awfully sad
I struggled immensely with the grief of losing mu grandfather
I cannot imagine the pain of losing 18 members of your family in one day

Why is Israeli bombing refugee camps in Gaza?
Parkingt111 · 31/10/2023 22:55

@1dayatatime did you see the link I sent you? About how Israel does in fact control what aid can come into Gaza through the Rafah border

"I’m just going to leave this here…

Natural gas worth $453 billion
1.7 billion barrels of oil "

You post this as if if it is something new. Gas deposits off Gaza have been known about since 2000, however the problem was previously that Israel (unreasonably) wanted the gas to land in Israel and buy it at 10% below market prices. Understandably the Palestinian Authorities said no way. Shell was developing it but pulled out in 2018.

However things seemed to have progressed in 2022 with Egypt taking part in the development :

It gets worse:

'' Israeli intelligence ministry proposes relocating millions of Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt. A leaked Israeli intelligence ministry document proposes relocating the population of the Gaza Strip to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
The document, dated 13 October, suggests that Israel might initially relocate the population of the Gaza Strip to tent cities, followed later by the establishment of permanent communities in northern Sinai, Haaretz reported ''

I read that link. Whilst I don't dispute what the Egyptians are saying, it doesn't however make any sense at all.

So we have an aid truck in Egypt that then drives into Israel to be checked for smuggled weapons, it then drives back into Egypt and from there it drives on to Gaza.

Why don't the Egyptians just say no?

Right now the last thing the Israelis want to do is piss off Egypt anymore than it has already done.

Egypt is also losing a lot of tourist income especially after Houthi drones/ missiles hit two Egyptian Red Sea tourist towns and wants this current conflict to end as soon as possible:

Even if this "leaked document " was true it would be irrelevant as there is absolutely no way Egypt would allow refugees from Gaza to cross over and set up refugee camps in northern Sinai thereby creating Gaza version 2.0.

Well instead of asking why the Egyptians don't say no. Should we not be asking why the Israelis are imposing so many restrictions in allowing aid in
You could see in that article how frustrated egypt is
Let's also not forget at the start of the war Israel bombed the Rafah border so that no aid could come in
When the US finally managed to convince Netanyahu to allow aid to come in the first thing Egypt did was get assurance that they wouldn't bomb the border again and then set about repairing the road so that trucks could even drive through

I’m not a conspiracy theorist - I’m asking a question is that what other people think ?

RubyRubyRubyRubay · 31/10/2023 23:16

@1dayatatime

How would Egypt stop the IDF opening the border from the Gazan side and forcing whoevers left in Palestine across? Would Egypt risk war with Israel over it?

I have autism and I’m trying to make sense of this situation and what peoples opinions are on it and I just asked a question? It wasn’t that I was suggesting that was the case but asking is that what some are thinking ?

PigeonDefender · 31/10/2023 23:20

It's a bit misleading to call it a refugee camp. It's a town people have lived in for decades and they were told to evacuate three weeks ago, in the vague hopes anyone is interested in facts.

I'm not sure how you think a document stating Israel's intentions is irrelevant when they are currently bombing Gaza and trying to push the residents south claiming their actions are "self defence".

Their objective may be unrealistic but the document is not irrelevant.
