Very disappointing to wake up to see that Israel is still blocking the delivery of diesel to keep Gazan hospital generators running

Maybe today there will be some further movement on the supply of humanitarian aid and the incr pressure from Israels allies particularly the US will result in more concessions

There will not only be the 130 premature babies at risk but also adults in ICU and any patients who are receiving oxygen - you really can't run a hospital without electricity

5000 pregnant Palestinian women are due to give birth in Gaza in the next 4 weeks - many will do so without any medical care or hygeine provision And planned c-sections won't take place

Dehydration impairs then stops breastfeeding and baby milk will be hard to find

So not just the 130 premature infants at risk

All adding to the pre-existing suffering of bereaved Jewish and Palestinian parents and families over the last fortnight

Efacsen · 24/10/2023 06:55

Egypt and Israel have co-operated for years over who and what passes through Egypt-Gaza border - both at the border crossing but also via the maze of illegal Hamas smuggling tunnels under the border. eg Egypt flooded many tunnels a few years ago

Tunnels go between Hamas safe houses in Rafah, Gaza and Rafah City just over the border in Egypt which is why Israel bombs homes in Rafah

One of Israels stated top priorities is to 'apprehend' the 2 'masterminds' behind the attack on Israel on 7/10 who were believed to still be in Gaza at the time. Bombing of the Rafah crossing area tunnels started on day 1 of the war ?presumably to stop their escape amongst other objectives

This killed 3 Egyptian border guards and the official crossing hasn't been meaningfully open since then - apart from the recent passage of 3 aid convoys

'500+ foreign passport holders' - mainly from US but actually there are 10s thousands non-US are not being allowed to leave Gaza - ?extra hostages ?stopping high ranking Hamas discretely leaving

Hamas need to go for the safety of everyone, including Palestinian civilians. But they will fight tooth and nail to keep hold of power and keep murdering in the name of holy war.

Anyone will fully defending Hamas by pretending they don’t steal aid form their own people, use children as human shields, commit disgusting atrocities and threaten the safety of anyone who lives differently to them is bonkers- as if Hamas would defend you with the same leeway you give them.

I think we all know how it would go if most of the ‘Free Palestine’ lot met their political idols face to face.

This.

So you are pro the settlers in the west bank who constantly harass the Palestinians there, to be armed?
You can just have a look at his twitter to see what he's all about

Edited

Absolutely not!! But I can see how, having catastrophically failed to protect Israel on 7 October because he was wrapped up in his own stupid agenda, he'd want to give the illusion of arming people for their own protection.

Alcemeg · 24/10/2023 07:47

WhiteHorseSpirit · 24/10/2023 00:23

Ugh... What a mess. Presumably this is what Hamas wanted to provoke.

Ah OK I misunderstood you. I see what you mean he's trying even harder now to prove he is capable

^
Israel's war crimes are far far far worse than that of a terrorist organisation.^

Well, I agree with you. Eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth and all that.

UK was never occupied by the Nazis. You have to understand the history of WW2. That's why Israel came about. Their own land.

Someone in another thread said: Abused often turn into abusers. True.

I've been in Israel and Palestine. (and worked with both). Just breaks my heart what is going on.

Do people such as the quote in this post know the full extent of barbarity and atrocities committed by Hamas when they say the terrorist organisation is not so bad

Parkingt111 · 24/10/2023 07:47

I don't blame you for misunderstanding. I'd have expressed it better if I hadn't been falling asleep 😊

Well that's worked well in the USA's domestic arms race, hasn't it?

There's a small fire burning merrily on the West Bank with lots of fuel laid by - how will adding a bit of Kerosene now help anyone?

Guns for Peace?

EasternStandard · 24/10/2023 07:57

Listening to Qatar spokesperson this morning I appreciate their de escalatory approach

Not inflaming the region and general talks to both sides are a good priority

TheWayTheLightFalls · 24/10/2023 07:59

@EasternStandard you may want to Google just how much of Hamas’ money comes from Qatar.

Efacsen · 24/10/2023 08:07

Something which I've not seen mentioned before today is the 278 survivors of the 7/10 Hamas attack still recovering in hospital

40 of whom are in a serious condition

Lives changed forever doesn't really cover it

EasternStandard · 24/10/2023 08:12

TheWayTheLightFalls · 24/10/2023 07:59

Yes. He did answer on that.

They are also mediating on Russia returning Ukrainians

De escalation in the region is incredibly important

Maybe not all positI’ve, or all negative. I can’t draw complete conclusions as not read up enough but on balance is it good Qatar are taking this role or not, worth a consideration in the overall picture

TheWayTheLightFalls · 24/10/2023 08:14

You’re less cynical than I am!

EasternStandard · 24/10/2023 08:18

I don’t know if I am

But escalation in the region has been on my mind so anyone who focuses on reducing that risk I’ll hear

I can’t say I know it in-depth though, just R4 this morning

Israel withdraw from Gaza in 2007? They continued to provide water, power, food etc and employ people from Gaza. Israel after being subjected to genocide by Hamas - footage has been shown to journalists today from bodycam and evidence shown that women and children were to be targeted for abduction and torture, a terrorist 'phoning home' to say he had personally murdered 14 Jews, a father protecting his sons and being killed by a grenade, his sons blinded and missing, need I go on.....
Now tell me why after all time and misappropriation of funds by Hamas Israel owes it anything? It's entitled under international law 'a robust response' and that's what it's doing.
Hamas hide behind their civilians and are protected by people either by fear or misplaced loyalty.
They need eradication.

This. 100%.

To be honest, after what happened, I don't blame him.

This.

beachcitygirl · 24/10/2023 09:12

@EasternStandard & @Stomacharmeleon I did misread the post. Apologies.

I thought the poster was referring to eradication of Gaza/Palestinians. Instead rhey were referring to Hamas.

On closer Inspection/reread

My apology for misreading.
There is enough confusion.
Sorry again.

beachcitygirl · 24/10/2023 09:19

That said, I don't find language such as eradication helpful.

It begs confusion and anger.

Brought to justice and tried (if possible) 💯 but dehumanising language does none of us any favours.

We must seek to be better than terrorists.
Its exactly why I had such problems with the term "human animals"

We all
Know how it goes when we dehumanise.

We are better than terrorists or we damm well should
Be.
Israel Gvmt definitely should be & currently are not.

I'm so glad I don't think like you do. I actually find your post insulting to the victims of the disgusting acts Hamas carried out.

beachcitygirl · 24/10/2023 09:36

@Wonkasworld and I'm so glad I'm not like you, not giving a shit about the innocent victims of Israelis war crimes.

I (and most sensible posters on here) care very much about the innocent victims of Hamas terrorists AND the horrors currently being subjected on innocent palestinian civilians at the moment.

It's not a contradiction to think both of these horrors are well, horrible & that a Palestinian baby is the same as an Israel baby.
Precious .

You change the tone in your posts, like the wind. Wasn't it you who accused some of us as having dark souls?

Now you are offended at dehumanisation! As for bringing to trial those scumbags, oh please. Yes, it's bloody insulting so quit with the faux we shouldn't be as bad as the terrorists act.
