@Alcemeg but the aid not coming in specifically for Hamas makes sense. Not for the innocent civilians hence he says this

I suggest that we open the border for the Palestinian innocent people, including women, children and elders, to leave the Gaza Strip or to go into a safe zone

But Israel have flat out refused for this to happen
In fact this is what one of Israeli ministers has to say

Parkingt111 · 24/10/2023 19:52

@Alcemeg this

Thread 2 To think Hamas have given Israel the excuse they were looking for?

@Alcemeg this

For every one of those posts, we could post with similar that's been said about the Jews. How is it helping?

Is it helping the father who said he was glad his little girl was killed so she wouldn't have to suffer as a hostage?

We don't need the emotional blackmail.

Stomacharmeleon · 24/10/2023 19:56

@Parkingt111 where are you suggesting they go? What safe zone given Israel are still being subjected to rocket attacks.

Not sure the Egyptian's are keen either. And Hamas has told them not to go.

No, the Egyptians don't want them.

But in this case it is 100% relevant as she has been endorsed by Netanyahu. Not just a random person on the street

It was in response to @Alcemeg as the excerpt he typed out gave the reasons why Aid shouldn't be allowed but also mentioned the above as part of the tactic
I was simply pointing out that the son of the Hamas leader didn't mention this in isolation but alongside the humanitarian aspect of letting out women children etc

Alcemeg · 24/10/2023 20:07

I wish I could wave a wand and have it all sorted out and everyone living peacefully! Unfortunately it doesn't work that way!

No idea, of course, but I can only assume that Israel's reluctance is because there were high numbers of Gazan civilians involved in the attacks of 7 October.

This girl mentions it at 15:21. I haven't mentioned it before because I wasn't sure whether she might just have picked up the idea from social media (although she herself survived the festival attack)...

...but today this has been confirmed by Dr Qanta Ahmed, who has been watching the evidence firsthand in Israel and visiting the attack sites. At 01:05 in this video just released, she describes hundreds, possibly thousands, of Gazan civilians repeatedly entering to attack.
s

It must be extremely difficult to identify the "innocent civilians" in these circumstances. I mean, honestly, if crowds fill the streets of Britain to celebrate the 7 Oct attacks, then what must it be like in Gaza?!

UNCUT INTERVIEW: Survivor of Hamas music festival attack describes terrifying escape

Thank you @Alcemeg for sharing that. Upsetting as it was to watch, that is one very brave young lady.

Alcemeg · 24/10/2023 20:14

There's plenty more testimonies if you just search "Hamas survivor" on YouTube. This was one of the easier ones to watch.

Parkingt111 · 24/10/2023 20:14

@Alcemeg I wish you did too!
I was simply pointing out that if we were to use the Son of Hamas to justify Israels strategy then only one part can't be used in isolation 😊

@SomeCatFromJapan what we were discussing earlier in the day

I think like you, @Parkingt111 , I need to step away from the whole topic, it's just too distressing! Time to be kind to ourselves I think, and grateful that we are safe and have the capacity to enjoy life, on behalf of so many who don't have that luxury. 💗

Wonkasworld · 24/10/2023 19:57

No, the Egyptians don't want them.

They've stated they don't want to be complicit in the "ethnic cleansing of Gaza". It isn't due to dislike of Palestinians.

Yes, you're right but I'd also hazard a guess that they don't want the hear it will bring on them, to put it in basic terms.

Wonkasworld · 24/10/2023 20:35

Sorry @ChickHenLittle I meant heat but you understood what I meant 😀

Pollyputhekettleon · 24/10/2023 20:47

Many in Egypt do in fact dislike Palestinians:

'Many fear disclosing their Palestinian identity due to discrimination and the campaigns which have been whipped up by Egyptian media against them time and time again since the late 1970s.'

The assassination of then culture minister, Yusuf Al-Sibai in early 1978 at the hands of a militant Palestinian faction also played a decisive role in Egypt's new hostility towards its Palestinian refugees.

...Here Amal is referring to the military coup which saw General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi take power, ousting the late Mohamed Morsi. This ushered in a period which saw Palestinians heavily demonised by Egyptian media – a trend which has precedent in Egypt.

In the aftermath of the 2013 military coup, Egyptian media platforms accused Palestinians of agitating for the revolution, infiltrating Egypt's borders, and organising jailbreaks.'

The article doesn't explain, of course, but Hamas is related to the Muslim Brother hood, represented by Morsi. Egyptians who oppose the MB suspect Palestinians in Egypt of supporting it.

No recognition, no rights: Palestinians in Egypt

Palestinians in Egypt are neither recognised as refugees nor citizens, 75 years after the first refugees arrived after the Nakba, and Egypt's hostile treatment of its Palestinians today contrasts painfully with its warm welcome in the 1950s.

No worries, I agree! There seem to be very few safe places at the moment.
It's always ordinary people suffering due to those in power (in this case, including Hamas as in power).

beachcitygirl · 24/10/2023 10:50

What's horrifying to me is anyone panicked and horrified by the untold death & destruction in Gaza as well as being horrified by atrocities committed by Hamas is hounded.

Some on this board simply do not value Palestinian lives. It's increasingly obvious and the term antisemitism thrown about like confetti.

I have a close friend a medic working in Palestine.

I can care about innocents on both sides - it's not mutually exclusive.
I can be repulsed by the horrors of Hamas and think the actions taken by Israel are repulsive z

Seems to be to some Israeli Government supporters though & that is dark.

Give over with the constant calling people dark souls.
Get over yourself.
People have different views.

Lots of the world stand with Israel and its right to defend itself. Very few stand with Hamas. Leaders around the world understand why Israel wishing to crush the terrorist group Hamas. Its a war situation.

Ohdearanotheryear · 24/10/2023 21:28

If Hamas are crushed, eradicated or broken down as a terrorist group then the Palestinian people might get a much better life going forward. Afterall what has Hamas ever done for ordinary people whom they use as human shields, divert aid meant for them and commit acts which demand some form of response
