No one is an apologist for Hamas on here. What they did was dreadful. Inhumane and unthinkable.

The BBC is a conduit for terrorist propaganda. Scrutinise its coverage of the Al-Ahli hospital tragedy. They relied on Hamas sources for the story, prevaricated as the truth emerged and then issued weasel my worded caveats.

What Hamas did was cruel and barbaric. Massacring Palestinian civilians might make Israel feel better but it is not humane and it is shocking and, as OP said, sickening that world leaders are OK with the images coming out of Gaza and not doing more to stop it. Shame on all of them.

Hamas are a militant force who committed horrendous acts in Israel. However they do not represent or speak for all the people in Gaza and certainly not the West Bank.

Israeli firepower backed by the US cannot be matched. It’s completely unequal.

The world is slowly opening their eyes to the atrocities that the Israeli government and IDF commit on a daily basis, this despite the very pro-Israeli and anti-Palestinian media coverage.

The situation could have been on the way to peace if the Oslo Accords had passed but Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated by a far right wing nationalist Israeli, who was on the same side as Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israel do not want a solution, they want to eradicate the Palestinian people and the West give them a green light to do so.

Anyone who bleats “Hamas are to blame”, “What about the Israelis” whilst innocent men, women and children have water turned off, no electricity, lack of medical equipment and food whilst they facing a constant threat of bombings is a cretin and ignorant to human suffering.

Israel is a terrorist state committing genocide in the world stage.

Palestinians haven’t just ‘died’, they were killed in bombings.

Language is important in media. How things are phrased plays a part in our subconsciousness and the ‘side’ many of us take. Listen to the bigot Nick Ferrari on LBC, tell me he is impartial.

The media coverage is heavily skewed towards a pro-Israel angle. However, there are some brave journalists who refuse to tow the line and tell facts rather than an expected narrative.

Couldn't agree more. Have watched time and time again the minimising of what is being done by Israel. The dehumanising and dismissal of Palestinians is nasty and horrible. What happened on October 7th was wrong but what Israel has done every day since with the collusion of US and some in Europe is not justifiable. Some responders on this thread seem to come from a similar viewpoint.

When some ask why so many people are taking to the streets in protest, it is because Israel's actions are indefensible from a moral and human rights perspective. Why should the word of IDF be accepted when their version of events have been challenged and found to be false so many times. The bile and hatred spewing from some Israelis is hard to listen to especially when some of them are politicians.

There are still rockets being fired into Israel from Gaza by Hamas as we speak from civilian areas. You would think that trying to 'free' and liberate their people would start with not using them as human shields.

Hamas Don't care about the people of Palestine. They are too consumed with hating the Jews and eradicating them All the time that's the goal Israel has no choice.

Gandhi's advice to the Jews suffering under the Nazis was to commit mass suicide. It seems that's still the only acceptable resolution to many people today. The opposite of war isn't always peace, and it certainly won't be peace for Israel if the countries surrounding it sniff blood.

Hamas started this. No truly oppressed and downtrodden people have to commit a large-scale atrocity in order to provoke a counter-attack from their enemy. Their enemy would be attacking them anyway. It must be the only 'resistance movement' in the world to be pissed off that its enemy wasn't treating it badly enough. Hamas started this, Hamas wanted this, so it's up to them to stop it.

These threads are going around in circles now - several posters have pointed out what’s probably going on - but it comes back to this. Nothing justifies slaughtering thousands of innocent children.

Yep I’m tired of this narrative being pushed that all was well until October 7th 2023 when Hamas attacked and then Israel retaliated. Tell the whole history! Palestinians have been under attack for a long time.
