At what point will it stop? Why are the Palestinians seen as vermin? Ethnic cleansing is what this is.

It is sickening and the apologists on both sides have blood on their hands - and that includes the propaganda-pushers on here.

What Hamas did was cruel and barbaric. Massacring Palestinian civilians might make Israel feel better but it is not humane and it is shocking and, as OP said, sickening that world leaders are OK with the images coming out of Gaza and not doing more to stop it. Shame on all of them.

Surely if other countries start stepping in it then becomes another world war. Just like with Ukraine.

Meanwhile, in 2014:

'The United Nations has found troves of rockets hidden in three of its schools since the conflict began. “We condemn the group or groups who endangered civilians by placing these munitions in our school,” Chris Gunness, spokesman for the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, said in statement published Wednesday by the Times of Israel. “This is yet another flagrant violation of the neutrality of our premises. We call on all the warring parties to respect the inviolability of U.N. property.”

Earlier this month, the United Nations also found rockets piled inside one of its vacant schools — near other schools used to accommodate displaced people.
The international organization also found 20 additional rockets at another of its schools during an inspection, calling it one more “flagrant violation of the inviolability” of the premises.'

The Al Shifa hospital even gets a mention:

'During one short-lived lull in rocket fire, The Washington Post’s William Booth saw a “group of men” at a mosque in northern Gaza. They said they had returned to clean up glass from shattered windows. “But they could be seen moving small rockets into the mosque,” Booth wrote. He also reported that Shifa Hospital in Gaza City had “become a de facto headquarters for Hamas leaders, who can be seen in the hallways and offices.”

Wall Street Journal reporter Nick Casey tweeted an image of a Hamas spokesman giving an interview at a Gaza hospital. With the shelling, “You have to wonder … how patients at Shifa hospital feel as Hamas uses it as a safe place to see media.” The tweet was later deleted.'

Why Hamas stores its weapons inside hospitals, mosques and schools - The Washington Post

Honestly Polly. Stop commenting. You copy and past or rely on others. Propaganda was made for people like you. Go educate yourself.

Funnily enough Gaza on Netflix was filmed in 2014. Go watch it.

So conspiracy theories too.

Nice.

Lulooo · 22/10/2023 23:04

Whatever you think of Hamas and Israel supposed right to defend itself that keeps getting repeated, thousands of innocent Palestinians-women, men and most children are being intentionally murdered and anyone who condones it on the basis that Hamas attacked Israel is openly supporting terrorism and is brainwashed by the media.

Compare to Al Qaeeda flying planes into a tower of civilians because they had issue with the US government. Why is that called terrorism but when Israel kill DOUBLE the amount of innocent people than 9/11 because of their issue with Hamas, it’s justified as self defence?

Will we give the innocent Palestinian lives lost from Israeli terrorism the same memorials and annual remembrance? I think not. They just don’t matter enough.

Israel do not want a solution, they want to eradicate the Palestinian people

If that was true, why haven't they? I imagine they easily have the military capability to do so.

Admittedly they haven’t built concentrate camps but they are employing tactics akin to ‘a death by a good thousand cuts’ to remove Palestinians from ‘their’ land.

  • Removing the rights of people in Gaza to leave Gaza
  • Controlling water suppose
  • Reducing power supplies
  • Letting them fish for only up to 15 miles from their shore
  • Ejecting Palestinians from their homes in the West Bank
  • Tearing down houses
  • Removing their rights to work
  • Locking up children
  • Bombing schools and hospitals
  • Wiping out generations of the same family with one bomb

Yes they haven’t eradicated Palestinians YET but it is happening.

thinkfast · 22/10/2023 23:06

Rachelw84 · 22/10/2023 22:38

It’s not a war.

Hamas are a militant force who committed horrendous acts in Israel. However they do not represent or speak for all the people in Gaza and certainly not the West Bank.

Israeli firepower backed by the US cannot be matched. It’s completely unequal.

They have been committing war crimes, creating apartheid conditions and have been butchering Palestinians for decades.

The world is slowly opening their eyes to the atrocities that the Israeli government and IDF commit on a daily basis, this despite the very pro-Israeli and anti-Palestinian media coverage.

The situation could have been on the way to peace if the Oslo Accords had passed but Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated by a far right wing nationalist Israeli, who was on the same side as Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israel do not want a solution, they want to eradicate the Palestinian people and the West give them a green light to do so.

Anyone who bleats “Hamas are to blame”, “What about the Israelis” whilst innocent men, women and children have water turned off, no electricity, lack of medical equipment and food whilst they facing a constant threat of bombings is a cretin and ignorant to human suffering.

Israel is a terrorist state committing genocide in the world stage.

Of course it's a war. Both sides are killing and firing weapons at each other. That's a war. Ordinary Palestinian citizens don't deserve to be bombed and have their lives threatened any more than ordinary Israeli citizens do. Hamas have brought this upon the Palestinian people. They knew how Netanyahu would react.

Coughingdodger · 22/10/2023 23:07

To be fair to Israel on this, they do need to pay people.

ErinAndTonic · 22/10/2023 23:03

Well they could stop with the full blown support of Israeli war crimes. The US giving them an additional €10billion on top of the billions they've already given to the Israeli military isn't helping matters. The UK and EU supporting Israeli war crimes is outrageous too.

Lulooo · 22/10/2023 23:08

Israel is the hostile occupier. How does it have the right to defend itself?

It’s literally stealing land and killing everyone in its wake yet its playing the victim card here.

ErinAndTonic · 22/10/2023 23:13

Is the strong support from the US because of the large Jewish population there?

I am still leaning about all of it but my basic understanding is that the people in power on both sides are either antisemitic or anti Islam - but the civilians on either side are innocent and don't necessarily have the same views.

But I guess Israel was never going to sit back and take it because Hamas would have kept going. Not that I think they should be sinking to their level either. All of it terrifies me.

Pro Israeli groups pay millions in political donations to American politicians to buy influence.

And America wants to have power and influence in the Middle East so they achieve that by paying for the Israeli military.

I'm sure there's a Jewish vote too but that's not as important as the previous two points. And not all Jews are Zionists.

Trulywonderful · 22/10/2023 23:19

EsmaCannonball · 22/10/2023 22:57

Gandhi's advice to the Jews suffering under the Nazis was to commit mass suicide. It seems that's still the only acceptable resolution to many people today. The opposite of war isn't always peace, and it certainly won't be peace for Israel if the countries surrounding it sniff blood.

Hamas started this. No truly oppressed and downtrodden people have to commit a large-scale atrocity in order to provoke a counter-attack from their enemy. Their enemy would be attacking them anyway. It must be the only 'resistance movement' in the world to be pissed off that its enemy wasn't treating it badly enough. Hamas started this, Hamas wanted this, so it's up to them to stop it.

For a lot of non Jews the only good Jew is a dead one. They love a good we will never forget on Holocaust Memorial Day. You hear then a lot of idiots say "Why didn't they fight back" (Which a lot did actually but were out weaponed).

Well now Jews are fighting back but people prefer the Genocide of Jews again like the extremist Islamics have been publicly calling for around the world for years.

Else like what Ghandi said and what happened at York Castle.

WhileMyDishwasherGentlyWeeps · 22/10/2023 22:01

Always the same. Always.

Israel suffers bombings, rockets, stabbings, shootings, kidnapping and all the rest, committed by groups explicitly dedicated to the destruction of the nation and its people, but any action by Israel and out come the protestors.

Does it ever occur to protesters that Israel - the only Jewish state on earth - protects its people fiercely because of what Jews have suffered? This isn’t like a terrorist group causing mayhem in Italy, Germany, Spain, France or the UK.

It should be bloody obvious that attacking Israelis provokes a strong response. Not that Israel’s response could be much different in any circumstances anyway, given how Hamas and Hezbollah operate.

Absolutely this.

MariaLuna · 22/10/2023 23:20

I don't know the solution either.

Do know that women are allowed = needed = into the Israeli army.

Been in Israel and Palestine, met wonderful people on both sides.

Would still rather live in a democracy though. ++Israel president is shit though....

Fordian · 22/10/2023 23:21

My opinion. Hamas were expecting to do a lil disruptive incursion into Israel, 7/10.

Due to the ridiculousness of Netanyahu's political ambition, Israel had taken its eye off the ball.

Undertrained, ill-disciplined young Palestinian men ran amok. Hamas weren't expecting their level of cruelty and butchery.

Thus Israel were given a free 'retaliation' pass.

We must remember:

Hamas regard Palestinians as dispensable martyrs.

Palestinians voted Hamas in.

The Palestinians have been given many opportunities to work alongside Israel but have rejected all, spurred on by proxies, whose wars they're dying for.

Gaza's neighbours do not want these lawless, young, uneducated, manipulated, indoctrinated people in their hands. Why? 🤔

Hamas' sworn intent is the destruction, the eradication of Israel. From the river to the sea.

Let's remember all this when we 'cry for Gaza'.

Classic right wing racist xenophobia. There are Palestinian surgeons, doctors, writers and academics. There used to be a rather good university there too - not sure if it's still standing. You did stop short of calling Palestinians 'savages', well done.

EsmaCannonball · 22/10/2023 23:26

The Soviet Union and then Russia has spent billions over the last few decades in producing anti-Israel propaganda. Right now they are the bot farm kings. Many of the tropes parroted about Israel were invented by Romanian ex-Nazis on the orders of the Russians.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/10/2023 23:26

Palestinians voted Hamas in.

In 2006! By that reckoning Tony Blair is still prime minister! And It has a terrible democracy score, properly shit.

Fordian · 22/10/2023 23:26

I think, regarding all the traumatised MNetters who 'cannot sleep tonight' due to to imagery coming out of Gaza,
you must remember who started this.

It was the elected Hamas who chose to destroy this uneasy truce.

Those babies would still be alive tonight if Hamas hadn't chosen to sacrifice them on the altar of 'Palestine, from river to sea'.

Hamas started this.

You have missed out on about 75 years of Israeli oppression in your post

The British colluding with Jews to create the state Israel. Displacing 750k+ Palestinians from their homes, killing thousands.

Moving many to Gaza. Then years of subordination, control, apartheid, killings, oppression and degrading behaviour.

When people have no hope then you see them lash out and do things people should never do (stabbings, murders, rebellion).

What recent opportunities have Palestinians been given that they have rejected?
