First thread here but it’s full

Medical Aid to Palestine posted this thread on facebook describing the scenes in Gaza as being like the last days of humanity with one of their staff members having to search through piles of bodies to find his 13 year old niece https://www.facebook.com/100064712829372/posts/pfbid028yxpzimtA3apA6CSs8dEhJBd16rYUQR6QjFidEpwRCZzPVYoeJezX8nDrtZP2UZRl/?app=fbl

The main stream press aren’t really addressing the horror of what is happening (bar maybe Channel 4 news and Al Jazeera) - it’s a sanitised version.

As I said in the original thread, there has been absolute horror on both sides but the Israeli government are inflicting collective punishment on the people of Gaza, which is a war crime under international law.

I still feel we are watching genocide in real time.

To think it’s turning into genocide in real time | Mumsnet

Just seen this on the news- how can this be right? It genuinely is starting to feel like genocide. What Hamas did was beyond appalling. But this i...

Good grief they target ambulances, we can all see the footage and the response is they were transporting Hamas. The Israeli government must know no one believes a word they say any longer, but in this dystopian reality they also know it simply doesn’t matter.

ssd · 03/11/2023 22:33

Let's face it, they went after journalists and their families without the 'they were hiding hamas'.

Soon they won't even bother with the 'they were hiding hamas', they'll just bomb and bomb indiscriminately until there's no one left.

mydiaryisfull · 03/11/2023 22:34

@Roste "The Israeli government must know no one believes a word they say any longer, "

How can you claim to know what the Israel Gvt knows.? Do you have a crystal ball?

(If so can I borrow it for the lottery numbers tomorrow? Taa.)

mydiaryisfull · 03/11/2023 22:35

@ssd "Soon they won't even bother with the 'they were hiding hamas', they'll just bomb and bomb indiscriminately until there's no one left."

So you can tell the future?

Can I have the winning lottery numbers for Sat please?

@mydiaryisfull to be fair. All the nurses you say who should be escorting the critical ill are probably dead. You know from hospitals being blown up. Which is why they where being taken to the border....

ssd · 03/11/2023 22:45

The lottery is unpredictable, sorry.

The fact Israel has lost the world's respect is sadly predictable.

Extrapolation is an exercise in simple forecasting:

Our explanation for what happened in the past quickly becomes our prediction for the future. This is dangerous because we cannot accurately explain the past let alone predict the future.
^^
Even in the event that we are correct in our diagnosis of the causation of previous events, it is unlikely that they will persist unchecked.

@mydiaryisfull my point is that I’m absolutely floored by the lack of empathy shown to other human beings. I’ve never encountered it before.

mydiaryisfull · 03/11/2023 22:51

"The fact Israel has lost the world's respect is sadly predictable."

No, that's just an opinion, it is not a certainty.

Opinions are like anuses - everyone has one.

"The fact Israel has lost the world's respect is sadly predictable."

It’s a fact at this point.

Palestinian Red Cross reporting on the ambulance bombing .
They we’re taking critical patients to the border.

Everyone had been notified
The convoy was targeted.
Are Israel going to say they were defending themselves
What sort of sick army bombs an ambulance convoy and hospitals

What sort of sick army bombs an ambulance convoy and hospitals

The worlds most moral army of the best democracy, Israel ofcourse

No I'm not a doctor but I've worked in Casualty.

A 'critically ill' patient is one that can't survive without medical intervention - drip, oxygen, intubation. Usually they are transported with a nurse/technician.

I didn't see anyone of that category.

This is from BBC

No it doesn't.

It says transporting the wounded.

Not sure what your point is?

Apologies
Yes transporting
The wounded
Not critical

ssd · 03/11/2023 23:05

Keep trying to pick holes @mydiaryisfull

No one is being taken in now. Its too late, the damage is done.

Roste · 03/11/2023 23:11

It must be difficult for supporters of the current Israeli regime to see the government dismantle the carefully crafted image of a democratic peaceful nation . The world has been shown it is simply as barbaric as the Hamas terrorists it so skilfully hunts down in ambulances, outside bakeries, in schools, hanging out in family homes of journalists.

Coughingdodger · 03/11/2023 23:23

@SolomonEdGrundy
Well aren’t you a cheery soul.
I do feel sorry for the original idealistic Jewish people who wanted a home. And what they got was Netanyahu et al’s Israel.

It seems like the spoiled child so carefully indulged by the US has finally grown to maturity and has turned out to be the ultimate parenting failure.

If you're supporting Israel, this is what you're supporting: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-67278549

The first story;

Jury and Hamed somehow survived, but Yusof was killed when the roof of their house collapsed.
He was seven years old.
Mohamed was working a 24-hour shift at the hospital when his wife, Rawan, entered, screaming in search for their youngest son.
She had been able to find Hamed, while rescue teams helped pull Jury out of the rubble. Jury had suffered head injuries but her parents say she is "improving".
A video showing Rawan asking at the hospital for her "handsome and curly-haired son" circulated widely on social media. But Mohamed would later find his son's body in the hospital morgue.

Doesn't it just. The Israeli government is so out of control at the moment we could all end up paying for the US indulging their appalling behaviour for so long.
