I don’t view Hamas as humans, they are pure evil.

However I am astonished at the atrocities Israel are committing and getting away with, I want to believe they are good and just defending themselves but it’s getting harder to do that. I have some questions if anyone could answer, I would be grateful. Before this gets deleted as that’s probably inevitable as mumsnet doesn’t like anyone questioning Israel.

Over 1,000 children have been killed since this all began. Why are Palestinian children’s lives not viewed as important as Israelis?

To the people who say Israel need to destroy Hamas. If Hamas had underground tunnels within Israel. Underneath Israeli homes, hospitals. Would you support the dropping of bombs and view the killing of innocent Israeli civilians as collateral damage and an unavoidable tragedy? Or do you think Israel, who has arguably the most efficient intelligence in the world, would find another way to obliterate them?

The UK and US wrongfully invaded Iraq killing thousands of civilians, some members of the army were raping women and in one case burnt a child alive. If at that time, Iraq had decided to bomb the UK killing thousands of civilians as a way to defend themselves, would you also support that?

The most recent tragedy last night at the hospital. Israel immediately took responsibility and were quite proud they had ‘killed terrorists’. They then deleted this tweet and backtracked saying it was Hamas, releasing audio between two members as ‘proof’.

How can they intercept phone calls between terrorists but failed to see the initial attack and massacre of innocent israelis coming? How is this considered as proof? The two people talking could be anyone.

Why would they claim responsibility if it was nothing to do with them?

What are the chances that a rocket misfires and just happens to land on a hospital that was supposed to be keeping hundreds of Palestinians safe?

@Maatandosiris there are also protests taking place today in Tel Aviv calling on Netanyahu to resign. I don't think these protestors share your sentiment that this failure of duty towards the Israeli citizens is 'understandable'

Good, Netanyahu needs to go. Although it could end up a case of 'better the devil you know'.

@Bakensmile When discussing anything with people who support the pro Israeli regime, its worth attempting to get an idea of where they come from and the radical side. Figure out the belief system.

This is one of the most shocking and upsetting videos I have ever viewed that may provide some insight of the pro Israel ideals and how they think.

Any before any pros try jump on me this video has both sides of the argument recorded.

I've not finished watching yet, but the mindset of the settlers so far... burning a family, including a baby, alive... "well, I can't condemn it". Horrifying, all because they're a different religion.
I have so far found Rabbi Asherman, from near the beginning, to be very intelligent and reasoned.

@daytriptovulcan

Unfortunately that context is unwelcome. How the Palestinians have been persecuted, subjugated and killed for many years. The fact that Israel has the power to cut off their water supply says it all.

It says nothing at all except that Hamas prefer using water-pipes for making rockets than carrying water.

Of course there are protests. There are protests in every few country every day, Israel, being a free and democratic country is the same.

@Maatandosiris exactly. So please stop trying to shut down any criticism of Israel

@Willyoujustbequiet I hardly think its out of date
The guardian published it yesterday
Tuesday 17th of October 2023

Not the date of the Guardian article clearly but the info.

The source I provided was written by Palestinians themselves so unbiased compared with the Guardian. There are numerous others though if you care to dig.

Acknowledging Palestinians are becoming less reliant and providing solar power for themselves doesn't fit the victim narrative that many cling to though.

@Desertrose2023 as the UN has been dismissed on this thread as neither an authority or arbiter of truth, I am curious how long it will be until that Human Rights Watch report will be rejected too.

@PurpleChrayne It is pathetic to report a whole thread for antisemitism rather than individual comments.

It is infantilising and implying we cannot discuss this massive international crisis like grownups. And results in a loss of potentially useful information shared.

Anyway I am now struggling to believe what I read. Bias everywhere. However, it’s clear that nobody in power cares about ordinary Palestinians. Not the Israeli government and not Hamas.

Boredomblues · 18/10/2023 15:37

Careful with your hate speech
I'm sure you'll be happy to know those deluded backwards people are being pulverised at the moment and not offend the sensibilities of All the civilised people like yourself

Parkingt111 · 18/10/2023 15:37

For those who say Israel didn't issue warnings to the hospital

Source the guardian

Hosam Naoum, Anglican bishop of Jerusalem, told journalists that in the days before the Gaza hospital was hit by a devastating explosion, Israeli forces had issued three evacuation warnings to its directors, and struck it twice with missiles.

Where have I tried to shut anything down which does not breach laws? Nowhere that’s where! But like you, I’m entitled to my opinion.

The referral to terrorists refers to Hamas (or similar groups) which have been designated as terrorist organisations by much of the world. I’m really not understanding your objection to people referring to them as such

Green777 · 18/10/2023 16:04

@Maatandosiris

Is that directed to me? I fail to see how this could be directed to me, naming Hamas as I have as terrorists?

There's a very good reason why YouTube has made it extremely clear that the video you selected comes straight from Al Jazeera.

See attachment.

It means people should be sceptical about the content of the clip and, ideally, look for another source where YouTube don't need to put such a notice on.

They do, or at least did, have access to electricity.

Nearly 50% of their supply is solar powered and not reliant on Israel.

Did you read further than the caption under the picture on that article?

Even then it says 50% of businesses use solar. Later on it says the 50% of businesses and 30% of the population USE solar. Nowhere in that article does it mention what % solar contributes to the total amount available.

Boredomblues · 18/10/2023 16:17

Although regardless of Al jazeera, it's good to point out the delusions on all sides, as others have pointed out you can't have diplomacy with backwards deluded people who aspire to martyrdom and on the other hand you have an ethnostate essentially with a lot of deluded people claiming a promised land because their book tells them that their erm tribal ancestry from 3000 years ago means it's divine justice they can throw the existing population out of their homes

allthingsred · 18/10/2023 16:18

I dont really understand the history of what is going on. I just see the now..& in all honesty the whole thing makes me terrified of the world ive bought my kids into.

The fact that humans can do this too each other makes my heart ache.
Watching this you can see why there has been a never ending cycle of hatred & violence, one which with these recent actions has just begun again.
I feel for everyone that has been hurt/injured suffered a loss on both sides.
Its just heartbreaking.

Edited

I don't need to do any of that since I simply pointed out that YouTube ensured people viewing the clip on their own website or an embedded link on another forum such as this are fully aware that the channel comes from Al Jazeera.

Which is funded, fully or partially, by Qatari Government.

Logically, if there wasn't a problem with the source of the clip you selected, YouTube would NOT have put the publisher notice on front & square.

I'd advise you to read carefully what someone says so you don't fall into Strawman Argument Fallacy as you did there. 🤔

“Stop excusing Israel. It’s not working, we can see through the constant referral to terrorists to excuse Israel.”

Boredomblues · 18/10/2023 16:24

Exactly throwing around terms like antisemitism and terrorists and hamas to shut down absolutely everything is shameful and cheapens everything. It's actually absurd

The hospital wasn't directly hit, the car park was hit. Surely if it was Israel they would've hit the actual target
