I don’t view Hamas as humans, they are pure evil.

However I am astonished at the atrocities Israel are committing and getting away with, I want to believe they are good and just defending themselves but it’s getting harder to do that. I have some questions if anyone could answer, I would be grateful. Before this gets deleted as that’s probably inevitable as mumsnet doesn’t like anyone questioning Israel.

Over 1,000 children have been killed since this all began. Why are Palestinian children’s lives not viewed as important as Israelis?

To the people who say Israel need to destroy Hamas. If Hamas had underground tunnels within Israel. Underneath Israeli homes, hospitals. Would you support the dropping of bombs and view the killing of innocent Israeli civilians as collateral damage and an unavoidable tragedy? Or do you think Israel, who has arguably the most efficient intelligence in the world, would find another way to obliterate them?

The UK and US wrongfully invaded Iraq killing thousands of civilians, some members of the army were raping women and in one case burnt a child alive. If at that time, Iraq had decided to bomb the UK killing thousands of civilians as a way to defend themselves, would you also support that?

The most recent tragedy last night at the hospital. Israel immediately took responsibility and were quite proud they had ‘killed terrorists’. They then deleted this tweet and backtracked saying it was Hamas, releasing audio between two members as ‘proof’.

How can they intercept phone calls between terrorists but failed to see the initial attack and massacre of innocent israelis coming? How is this considered as proof? The two people talking could be anyone.

Why would they claim responsibility if it was nothing to do with them?

What are the chances that a rocket misfires and just happens to land on a hospital that was supposed to be keeping hundreds of Palestinians safe?

Weren't you here the night it happened? It was an absolute shitshow of people believing the first reports without question. Not surprising because most of the mainstream media apparently reported the first thing they heard also, which was the Hamas version of events.

It wasn’t Hamas version though. It was based on Israel claiming credit for it and then backtracking. Hamas has no SM accounts….

@Bakensmile, if Israel had bombed from above it would have left a crater and there is no crater. Far more likely Hamas launched a rocket and it malfunctioned or worse still they set it off on purpose in the hope Israel would get the blame. Rockets don't leave craters. Hamas still has over 200 hostages. They won't release them. What do you expect Israel to do, just act as if nothing has happened to them. They can't live with the threat of Hamas doing it again so have to try to obliterate Hamas and get their hostages back. Most likely Hamas will kill them. Like it or not Palestinians voted in Hamas and many Palestinians living in Gaza still support them. The only sensible solution for long term peace is to split the country into 2 states, right down the middle splitting Jerusalem in half.

There is a crater though. The idea there is no crater is based on photos from Israel circulating that doesn’t show the crater. The crater is in a BBC photo.

Yes but it wasn't Hamas' version, they don't have social media accounts as far as I'm aware.
It was the media, I believe, not Hamas themselves.

Parkingt111 · 19/10/2023 21:32

The voice note was overkill. If they hadn't put that out then I think more people would have believed the Israeli version. Here are some reasons why

  1. The tone and dialect
  2. As said previously Hamas and other groups do not name places but have number or codes they use
  3. They also use other modes of contact as they know calls are easily intercepted
  4. Israeli intelligence really didnt intercept a single call regarding the attack during what is said to have been a year's worth of planning, but was able to intercept this one within hours?

I listened to it and I noted that the speakers seemed

  • very bored and like they were reading lines. Zero emotion
  • no background noise- Gaza is under constant bombardment especially the Hamas targets- those thousands of bombs are all targeted on known Hamas hidey holes…so why no booms or blast noise?
  • they mention the misfired rocket coming from a cemetery behind the hospital- then why are the videos that allegedly show the rocket show it travelling in an almost horizontal trajectory several hundred metres above ground instead of the steep climb it would have to be in if launched from a ground level position so close to the hospital?

The Hamas version wasn't that Israel had bombed a hospital, levelling it and killing roughly 500 people? I'm pretty sure it was, and is. Are you saying Hamas has no means of communicating? Or what's the relevance of the claim they have no SM accounts?

Good points. As I said earlier the 'intercepted call' was overkill. It took away alot of credibility from their other 'proofs'

FebruaryOnMyMind · 19/10/2023 22:17

The BBC has just said that the US navy has intercepted missiles from Yemen group fired towards Israel.
Again backed by Iran.
Some of these countries really could do with sorting their own problems and yet find the money for weapons to fire at Israel.

Sorry Polly, but you need to look at the immediate aftermath and who was saying what then to know how the “IDF did it” conclusion took hold so quickly.

Hamas didn’t make announcements in the immediate aftermath. The first they communicated was to deny when Israel pointed the finger at them.

This was after Israel had

  • claimed credit for it
  • deleted the above
  • posted an accusation that Hamas did it with a fake video
  • edited the above to remove the fake video
  • posted an apology for claiming credit saying they’d just repeated a “false” Reuters report- which Reuters said did not exist.

Then Hamas denied they had done it and implied Israel did because the hospital had been previously shelled nearby as a warning by IDF and evacuation calls from IDF.

Now we are all in position of having to wait for independent analysis and verification of who did it, or how it happened if an accident.

@FebruaryOnMyMind
In regards to my comment on Israel always saying the truth maybe you can comment on the aftermath of the murder of journalist shireen Abu Akleh

They did not only killed her they also attacked her funeral !

FreeCoathangers · 19/10/2023 22:25

I actually fear for my country when I see so many people want, in some cases, desperately, the need for it not to be Hamas.

Hmmm no mention of Iran in what I have seen from the Pentagon:

”Pentagon spokesperson Pat Ryder says the US cannot be sure what the Red Sea missiles and drones were targeting.
But Ryder told reporters that they were “launched from Yemen, heading north along the Red Sea, potentially towards targets in Israel”.
”The Pentagon has confirmed that a US warship shot down three missiles and drones in the northern Red Sea. It was not immediately clear who was behind the attacks or if they were carried out in response to the Israel-Hamas conflict.”

I'll believe them every day of the week and twice on Sundays before I will believe the death cult that is Hamas.

Who? I only see people interested in objectively looking at evidence. It’s a fact that there has been claims and counter claims by both sides of this war and so all of us are saying we are going to say it is inclusive until independent analysis can come to conclusion, if any, as some experts have said they cannot make a conclusion.

It’s called the fog of war. Sometimes there are no immediate answers.

On one side - The West and it's Allies

On the other side - Hamas and it's allies.

It will be a cold day in hell when I believe the latter over the former.

So the Hamas version is that Israel bombed it, levelling it and killing roughly 500 people? But you're saying the media got that exact same version of events and reported it of its own accord, with no communication from Hamas, purely from things Israel said and did? And Hamas can communicate, despite apparently having no SM accounts? So what's the relevance of their not having SM accounts?

Oh wait, I remember, this is about the Gaza Ministry of Health not being run by Hamas.

FreeCoathangers · 19/10/2023 22:42

WhiteHorseSpirit · 19/10/2023 22:39

Of course there will. It’s already started.

AFP have already said the deaths were 10-50 people. It was a hoax by Hamas for the gullible, that's how they operate.

No 3rd party will ever be able to give a version of events that the people on Hamas side agree with or the people not on Hamas side agree with.
