I don’t view Hamas as humans, they are pure evil.

However I am astonished at the atrocities Israel are committing and getting away with, I want to believe they are good and just defending themselves but it’s getting harder to do that. I have some questions if anyone could answer, I would be grateful. Before this gets deleted as that’s probably inevitable as mumsnet doesn’t like anyone questioning Israel.

Over 1,000 children have been killed since this all began. Why are Palestinian children’s lives not viewed as important as Israelis?

To the people who say Israel need to destroy Hamas. If Hamas had underground tunnels within Israel. Underneath Israeli homes, hospitals. Would you support the dropping of bombs and view the killing of innocent Israeli civilians as collateral damage and an unavoidable tragedy? Or do you think Israel, who has arguably the most efficient intelligence in the world, would find another way to obliterate them?

The UK and US wrongfully invaded Iraq killing thousands of civilians, some members of the army were raping women and in one case burnt a child alive. If at that time, Iraq had decided to bomb the UK killing thousands of civilians as a way to defend themselves, would you also support that?

The most recent tragedy last night at the hospital. Israel immediately took responsibility and were quite proud they had ‘killed terrorists’. They then deleted this tweet and backtracked saying it was Hamas, releasing audio between two members as ‘proof’.

How can they intercept phone calls between terrorists but failed to see the initial attack and massacre of innocent israelis coming? How is this considered as proof? The two people talking could be anyone.

Why would they claim responsibility if it was nothing to do with them?

What are the chances that a rocket misfires and just happens to land on a hospital that was supposed to be keeping hundreds of Palestinians safe?

Strange how a lot of people are jumping on their version of the truth.

Hamas' rockets often misfire: one third fall short of their target (Israel) and hit Gaza. This is a huge number. They are continuously aiming rockets at Israel, and may are hitting civilians in Gaza. There is video footage of this rocket being fired and hitting the hospital. Make no mistake: Hamas deliberately store arms and fire them from in and near hospitals. They are using civilians as human shields. Hamas took a deliberate risk and civilians have died as a result.

I think I should add that I am vehemently opposed to Hamas, what they did was disgusting. They are animals and I pray for the safe release of those innocent hostages. However I still do not believe it is a green light for Israel to go after Hamas NO MATTER WHAT THE CIVILIAN COST. Israel, as the Occupier, and an actual recognised nation state has certain obligations under international law. I guess it comes down to what you believe is proportional.

Given Hamas “s intentions regarding Israel, it’s invasion of Israel to carry out unspeakable atrocities, the millennias of persecution Jews have felt, the anti Jewish sentiment across large areas of the Islamic world coupled with the hezbollah attacks from the north I don’t think it’s any different to how any other country would react in similar circumstances with a similar enemy and a similar history

Parkingt111 · 18/10/2023 11:39

Israel doesn't exactly have a clean history of saying the truth when things get dirty do they
Shireen Abu Akleh springs to mind. For ages Israel blamed the Palestinians for her murder. Once the dust had settled they admitted it was them. So forgive me for not believing them again

You mean, the IDF? I don't think every single one is Jewish, plus the atrocities committed are not by Jews and Muslims, but the IDF/Israeli government and Hamas.

This. Calling it a Muslim / Jewish thing is a distraction. It is an Israel / Hamas thing. Really nothing to do with religion.

By the same example, we can claim that when the US, a predominantly Christian country, invaded Iraq, a predominantly Muslim country, that too was a religious war.

The vast majority of Muslims don’t hate Jews and the vast majority of Jews don’t hate Muslims.

Parkingt111 · 18/10/2023 11:47

@OhHelloTheres do you remember when Israel was adamant that it didn't kill the journalist Shireen Abu Akleh?
Lies upon lies. Nobody believes them anymore. And not much faith in Biden who dismissively said it was the other 'Team'
It seems the lives of Palestinians is just a game for them

I agree with this and I think making it about Muslims/Jews encourages the ordinary person to take a side. It isn't about sides, it is about what is wrong and what is right on both sides.

Israel is set to ban Al Jazeera from reporting in the country after the attorney general approved the move.

Also how apt to ban Al jazeera today. Clearly they cannot handle any sort of journalism that is not always 100% in their favour.
We all know how they treat journalists

Worth listening to Radio 4 Today programme from this morning - Mishal and a Jeremy Nowen did a fab job of taking the IDF’s military man to task (of course, he didn’t want to listen ). Why won’t the IDF fuckers supply their evidence for independent scrutiny?

An Israeli spokesperson took credit for the attack before deleting their tweet.

He's primarily a social media influencer and is unlikely to have had insider knowledge, he saw the news reports and sent a dickish tweet, it was not from an official government account.

He did work with the Netanyahu digital media team. I didn't find anything to confirm that was still the case. It's not implausible that he would still have connections. Someone on another thread has posted about Netanyahu speaking at his wedding which suggests quite a close relationship, although I don't know when that was. I doubt he would use his personal twitter account to make an official statement if he were still employed in the digital media team.

He has previously worked for the IDF and initially seemed to celebrating their success at killing terrorists. His retraction then used exactly the same words the IDF did to deny their involvement, which was to state that the IDF do not target hospitals.

Thread reported for antisemitism.

Parkingt111 · 18/10/2023 11:53

@PurpleChrayne why report the whole thread? Why not just report the individual post?

Lol. You seem to be doing a sterling job at getting threads pulled for your blanket “anti-semitic” cries. Are you deliberately planted on these boards to shut down debate?

otnot · 18/10/2023 11:53

They have killed thousands of civilians.

Just pointing out that the figures for Palestinian dead are being provided by Hamas, so maybe should be taken with a pinch of salt. But, hey - they support what you want to believe so I don't suppose it matters to you if they're false.

I think it's an intentional conflation to make accusations of anti semitism seem more plausible and shut down discussion.

Thread reported for antisemitism.

Can you please point out which posts are antisemitic? Reporting an entire thread and posting about it without pointing out examples just confirms that any criticism of Israel is being shut down.

ChickHenLittle · 18/10/2023 11:56

I reported an islamophobic comment that still stands. Interesting to see what happens to the thread, then.
I don't see any anti-semitism, just criticism of the Israeli government.

It is being shut down by MN. I was accused of anti-semitism by this lovely poster and the whole thread was pulled.

Parkingt111 · 18/10/2023 11:57

@otnot you do know it was Isreal who said they have carried out 6000 strikes
They gave these figures
Now you tell me, in such a densely populated area like the gaza strip how much damage and lost of life will that cause?
It doesn't take a genius to figure out it will be in the thousands

That doesn’t make it ok though does it? I hope you’re not implying that it’s ok for Israel to kill thousands of innocent women, children and babies because ‘other countries would do it too’?

Apartheid, blah blah, blah. Why should one care for emotive nonsense like this?

Of course people are going to use emotive language when discussing this. Can you really not understand why? The issue is when false claims/statements are being made. To claim Israel is an apartheid state isn’t some out their nonsense claim.

When the media jumped on ‘40 beheaded babies’ which was confirmed as being false a few days later, this undoubtedly invoked emotion throughout the world and laid the foundation for Israel to basically do anything in response, which they have.

I disagree, I think this is a very callous view that. I don't think you can compare the situation in Israel and Palestine, and the decades of forcible oppression of the Palestinian people with two countries going to war. There is no Hamas in the West Bank yet the situation is the same. Years of oppression and forced land grabs. I wonder if you think Israel has ever done anything wrong in this whole situation?

Or do you ignore what Israel has done as their eradication of Palestine is slower and more insidious?

Finlesswonder · 18/10/2023 12:00

It absolutely is about religion and to pretend otherwise is disingenuous. Look at the attacks we have had in Europe over the past few days. The shootings in Belgium, stabbing in France, attack on the synagogue in Germany. All religiously motivated. The sad thing is these stories are so workaday to us now we barely register them
