I don’t view Hamas as humans, they are pure evil.

However I am astonished at the atrocities Israel are committing and getting away with, I want to believe they are good and just defending themselves but it’s getting harder to do that. I have some questions if anyone could answer, I would be grateful. Before this gets deleted as that’s probably inevitable as mumsnet doesn’t like anyone questioning Israel.

Over 1,000 children have been killed since this all began. Why are Palestinian children’s lives not viewed as important as Israelis?

To the people who say Israel need to destroy Hamas. If Hamas had underground tunnels within Israel. Underneath Israeli homes, hospitals. Would you support the dropping of bombs and view the killing of innocent Israeli civilians as collateral damage and an unavoidable tragedy? Or do you think Israel, who has arguably the most efficient intelligence in the world, would find another way to obliterate them?

The UK and US wrongfully invaded Iraq killing thousands of civilians, some members of the army were raping women and in one case burnt a child alive. If at that time, Iraq had decided to bomb the UK killing thousands of civilians as a way to defend themselves, would you also support that?

The most recent tragedy last night at the hospital. Israel immediately took responsibility and were quite proud they had ‘killed terrorists’. They then deleted this tweet and backtracked saying it was Hamas, releasing audio between two members as ‘proof’.

How can they intercept phone calls between terrorists but failed to see the initial attack and massacre of innocent israelis coming? How is this considered as proof? The two people talking could be anyone.

Why would they claim responsibility if it was nothing to do with them?

What are the chances that a rocket misfires and just happens to land on a hospital that was supposed to be keeping hundreds of Palestinians safe?

I find it hard to believe that people are really questioning that Israel bombed the hospital. Idf literally posted a tweet saying they did and then when the media started talking about it, they quickly deleted and denied it. Their usual tactics nothing new really, although heartbreaking. Just shocked people believe it's a "hamas rocket misfiring"

I think you need to keep up with the weapon expert discussion on this.

So it's just "Jews" that are persecuting Palestinians is it? None of the non-Jewish citizens of Israel are guilty of this are they, and not just Israeli Jews but, all Jews regardless of where they're from?

This is either incredible ignorance, blatant antisemitism, or deliberate goading.

Yea I believe this would fall within the working definition of an antisemitism published by the college of policing and available on the you.gov website. I have provided a copy of this to the moderators

Bookshipper · 18/10/2023 20:55

Curiously these rockets seem to do relatively superficial damage when they hit buildings in Israel. But the claim being made by the Israeli government is that a single such errant rocket leveled an entire hospital complex.

Well, people are allowed to condemn terrorist acts. Period. I honestly find the word "antisemitic" thrown about a lot any moment someone condemns Israel war crimes. We're allowed to talk about it and have an actual conversation. Just like criticising Saudi killing a journalist does not make me islamophobic, criticising Israel's war crimes does not make me antisemitic.

Parkingt111 · 18/10/2023 20:56

Maatandosiris · 18/10/2023 20:48

I think though whist blame is being flung around nothing is going to move forward.

What is clear is that terrorists need removing from the equation. The land needs to be split and the most obvious a way to do this is along the lines of ancient kingdoms. Kingdoms which existed before Jews were exiled and persecuted (coincidentally roughly where things are now).

Once it is clarified borders aren’t moving then work needs to be directed towards making sure neither side is threatened by the other. Egypt could play a vital role here, but again is unlikely to until the terrorists are gone and there is consensus in the Arab world that the boarders of Israel are protected.

Are you suggesting the illegal settlements should remain as part of the peace plan in moving forward?

ChickHenLittle · 18/10/2023 20:58

Whatamidoinhere · 18/10/2023 20:49

Also can we talk about all the humanitarian aid that's been waiting at Rafah crossing at the Egyptian border for 5 days? Because Israel is not allowing them in and children in Gaza are literally starving and have no access to drinkable water. I can't see any justification for Israel's actions at this point. They want to wipe the whole area out.

Disgraceful isn't it. I've donated to aid charities helping those in Gaza but they're limited in what they can do.
Perhaps Biden should have told Netanyahu to agree to aid getting into Gaza. Not that a grown man should need to be told, then again I wouldn't put him far above the definition of 'evil' the more time passes and the situation in Gaza gets worse and worse. The man doesn't present as completely sane, but this is too much.

Well in the IDF minister own words, he said they're dealing with "human animals" and they need to cut off the water, food, electricity, and fuel.
Dehumanisation has worked very well in previous genocides too. Just convince the whole world that people in Gaza are not human like you and me, and therefore do not deserve a life.

ACTIONS OF THE ONLY 'DEMOCRACY' IN THE MIDDLE EAST

Israel’s restrictive allocation of water to Palestinians neither meets the Palestinian population’s basic needs nor constitutes a fair distribution of shared water resources. Swimming pools, well-watered lawns and large irrigated farms in Israeli settlements on occupied land – lush green even at the height of the dry season – stand in stark contrast next to the parched and arid Palestinian villages on their doorstep, where residents struggle to have enough water to wash, take a shower, cook, clean or drink, let alone to water their crops

Bookshipper · 18/10/2023 21:07

All those videos of shaking Palestinian babies and young children, bloodied and battered. And all I can do is hold my baby close. Shame.

I'm reasonably sure that the conversation has moved on and the hospital is most definitely not levelled.

What's even more baffling to me, is the history of trauma the Jews faced in Europe before 1946. They know the pain. Their arrival on ships in Palestine with banners that say "the Germans destroyed our homes, don't destroy our hopes". How Israel have been terrorising Palestinians and taking more and more land, displacing thousands of people every year is beyond comprehension for me.

OhHelloTheres · 18/10/2023 21:14

You know what, I really need to get this off my chest.

Under normal circumstances, I'm really not someone who is overly pro-Israel. I mean, I support Israel's existence as a predominantly Jewish state but I don't support all their actions. I've had numerous fallings out with my family about it. I support Israel but not settlements etc. I'm honestly a pretty lefty little Jew.

Do you know what changed this time around?
It was the brutal slaughter of 1400 Israelis, the kidnapping of 199, the maiming of several thousand. And on Facebook whenever a devastated family member of someone missing posted a photo of their loved ones asking for any news, the posts were, and still are, full of laughing emojis. The barbaric inhumanity of people all over the world laughing at the massacre and kidnapping of so many innocent people. It makes it feel like it's not just a war against Hamas. There's more to it. It's pro-Palestinians all over the world who are literally laughing at distressed families in mourning.

I really don't know how to express how I feel, I'm not particularly good with words. But this is the reason I'm supporting Israel more than ever before. I don't know what else to do. I'm so much more emotional than I would normally be. They're literally laughing about babies, children, the elderly being held hostage and what Hamas should do to them. The posts are not from Hamas members, they're from normal Palestinians and their supporters.

That's not to say that I support everything Israel is doing, I just want people to understand the emotion behind it all.

Talk about no longer having much faith in humanity 💔

With all this spamming and getting personal, me thinks there's some bottles of Lambrini that need to have the tops put back on them for the night.

It's ok to admit you spread misinformation. It happens, although not to all of us at the same rate. Emoting even louder is not a defence though.

I cannot imagine the kind of person that posts laughing emojis like that. It disgusts me. I am sorry for anyone who has to endure that. It makes me sick and I am not Jewish so I can only guess how it makes you feel. Just sickening.

Parkingt111 · 18/10/2023 21:24

@OhHelloTheres if there are people doing that then that is disgusting and depraved.

Both sides have been doing similar on social media which doesn't help the situation at all. There was the post about the Israeli citizen making a reel mocking the people of gaza how he has food water etc
But I believe that he is a minority and the majority pro Israeli supporters would not stoop to such a level or condone it

I think there are heartless people all round. May be algorithms, but I follow a few aid charities and Palestinian pages, and similarly posts are full of laughing emojis and abuse towards charities for supporting Gazans. Even UNICEF was having to make statements saying any hate comments would be deleted. They confirmed they were helping Gazans as that's where the humanitarian crisis is, but confirmed they are working with their Israeli counterpart, Magen David Adom, and still people didn't think it was enough.
Similarly, I couldn't understand the laughing reactions and comments when it was about children dying and unable to access basics.
I never have and likely never will support the actions of the Israeli government, but I can't see humour in anyone being murdered, or even doing it to provoke a reaction. Social media can be a very twisted place, especially when charities out to help civilians are on the receiving end of hatred.

It didn't though. It made a small hole in the parking lot.

The Palestine region had far more Jews and far fewer Muslims when Israel was created. This war started off as White European Jews displaced in WW2 displacing Jews they didn’t see as white. When Arab countries interfered they did so for all Arabs - Muslim, Jews and Christians against what they viewed as a white-european occupation. Religion didn’t really come into it until Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians forced them to turn away from Judaism en masse.
