I don’t view Hamas as humans, they are pure evil.

However I am astonished at the atrocities Israel are committing and getting away with, I want to believe they are good and just defending themselves but it’s getting harder to do that. I have some questions if anyone could answer, I would be grateful. Before this gets deleted as that’s probably inevitable as mumsnet doesn’t like anyone questioning Israel.

Over 1,000 children have been killed since this all began. Why are Palestinian children’s lives not viewed as important as Israelis?

To the people who say Israel need to destroy Hamas. If Hamas had underground tunnels within Israel. Underneath Israeli homes, hospitals. Would you support the dropping of bombs and view the killing of innocent Israeli civilians as collateral damage and an unavoidable tragedy? Or do you think Israel, who has arguably the most efficient intelligence in the world, would find another way to obliterate them?

The UK and US wrongfully invaded Iraq killing thousands of civilians, some members of the army were raping women and in one case burnt a child alive. If at that time, Iraq had decided to bomb the UK killing thousands of civilians as a way to defend themselves, would you also support that?

The most recent tragedy last night at the hospital. Israel immediately took responsibility and were quite proud they had ‘killed terrorists’. They then deleted this tweet and backtracked saying it was Hamas, releasing audio between two members as ‘proof’.

How can they intercept phone calls between terrorists but failed to see the initial attack and massacre of innocent israelis coming? How is this considered as proof? The two people talking could be anyone.

Why would they claim responsibility if it was nothing to do with them?

What are the chances that a rocket misfires and just happens to land on a hospital that was supposed to be keeping hundreds of Palestinians safe?

There were alliances of convenience in both world wars.

The Arabs did not participate in the Holocaust. Some people in Europe, beyond Germany, were eager collaborators. Yet somehow the Arabs have had to deal with the fallout.

Eli Cohen saying the territory of Gaza will decrease after this war. Not sure how they are planning to squash everyone in to this smaller place when it's already one of the most densely populated places on earth?

Wonkasworld · 18/10/2023 18:55

I really don't think anybody, who's not a jew or lost family in the holocaust are fit to critique its execution and impact. Bloody hell, this is de ja vouz from. Last night.

You really are showing your lack of class.

@OhHelloTheres in all honesty I didn't see any threads about an Israeli hospital being attacked. And If I did I would have condemned the attack

Do you condemn the attack on other hospitals in Gaza by Israel? Not talking about the one attacked yesterday but in previous days?

Green777 · 18/10/2023 18:57

@ketchup07070

I get the feeling he means smaller as in less people, they’re being killed with impunity. One hospital had a register of 50 entire families consisting of grandparents, children, grandchildren being killed. That was only one hospital and goodness knows how many entire families wiped out now.

So that goal he spoke of is coming to fruition as intended.

Yet you speak on Palestinians?

People can discuss the history of the holocaust freely.

I haven't spoken of Palestines. I've got more sense and tact. Others don't seem to care what they say. No, you don't get to talk 'freely' about the holocaust unless you know what you're talking about and that you're not being offensive with generalisations, as per the previous poster.

Green777 · 18/10/2023 19:04

A lot of UN staff and medical staff have been killed by Israeli strikes or haven’t been able to work tending to their families last minute evacuation. People who were told to go to Rafah to wait at the border were then bombed too. Convoys of people killed trying to escape.

Don’t see any concern about that or condemnation from certain posters.

NotTerfNorCis · 18/10/2023 18:28

The article does say that Israel believed it was about to be attacked, so got in first. That doesn't change the fact that Israel moved first, seized a load of territory and hung onto most of it.

The Holocaust was horrific. I understand why it casts a deep shadow over collective memory. But the Arabs weren't responsible. As you must know, the Nazis viewed the Arabs as inferior humanity as well.

Of course they moved first, it’s called a pre-emotive strike, something do common it has entered everyday language. Preemptive strikes are allowed under international law.

can you imagine the situation where millions of fellow Jews had been slaughtered just a couple of decades earlier you have a land where you are now supposed to be safe (many there will have literally had to run from the Nazis, had family and friends gassed, tortured) some might have been in the concentration camps. Then you’re under attack again in the very place you’re supposed to be safe. Can you imagine the fear and panic the genocide was about to begin again.

you should read up about the links between Nazis and Palestine, yes on the surface the Nazis saw the Arabs as racially inferior to them, but they thought that about many races. But they worked together, because they had a common enemy the Jews and eventually Zionism.

Against this back drop it’s unsurprising that Israel felt the need to expand its territories to feel safe. It now largely covers the historical kingdoms of Israel and Judah.

Parkingt111 · 18/10/2023 19:05

@OhHelloTheres do you condemn the cold blooded murder of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh which Israel initially lied about and blamed the Palestinians for before finally admitting it was them?

NotTerfNorCis · 18/10/2023 19:06

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_and_Muslim_rescue_efforts_during_the_Holocaust

This suggests the Jewish people were more persecuted in Europe than in Arab / Muslim countries even under Nazi occupation.

No occupied country in Africa or Europe was free of collaboration with the genocide campaign against the Jews, but this was often more common in European countries than Arab ones.

I agree that countries ally due to expediency in wars. We allied with the Soviet Union, for example. However, we allied with Stalin despite ideological differences. The Arab leaders who befriended Hitler only had hatred of Jewish people in common with him. However, it should be noted that many Arab states did not support Hitler and many Arab people, including Palestinians, fought the Nazis.

“”Fgs, you're like a child comparing whose dad is the biggest””

That’s literally the most childish response ever just because it doesn’t suit the narrative and because uou feel the attack by terrorists with no casualties on an Israeli hospital is the only one worth mentioning.

How about you answer her question?

OhHelloTheres · 18/10/2023 19:07

@NotTerfNorCis
What on earth are you talking about, almost no damage? The hospital was directly hit. The only reason people didn't die is because they'd already been moved to safety as it was far from the first rocket attack from Gaza that day.

Rockets from Gaza do have the ability to kill hundreds. That's why Israel has the iron Dome. Stop pretending to be some kind of explosives expert, it's pretty pathetic.

https://twitter.com/i/status/1710811251549360333 this is a video of the aftermath of the attack on the Israeli hospital. Yes, it's by the IDF. It's still an accurate video though.

Of course Jews were persecuted in Europe. They have been throughout history, look at the 1492 expulsion of Jews from the Iberian peninsular for example.

Jews have faced exile and persecution wherever they are since Babylon. This is why Israel is needed

i don’t see your point.

@Maatandosiris Obviously the Holocaust was a great evil and caused immense trauma. Seizing territory by force in the Middle East was not the answer. We have a situation of ongoing conflict and tension, and every year things seem to get worse.

Israel might believe it's making itself 'safe' by depriving the Palestinians of water, electricity and all other supplies, and what appears to be indiscriminate bombing, killing thousands of them. It's quite blatantly just making the situation worse.

Green777 · 18/10/2023 19:14

@Wonkasworld

We’ll it was a fair question she asked and one that you should be able to answer. The fact that you didn’t answer it is strange.

You were decrying an Israeli hospital being attacked by Hamas with no casualties so she asked what you thought of the Palestinian hospitals struck by Israeli forces which cost lives.

Seems reasonable no? Or is it not quite the same

Parkingt111 · 18/10/2023 19:15

The double standards on here are quite apparent. Any pro palestian poster is very quickly ordered to condemn Hamas before making any point

Whereas the pro Israelis will absolutely refuse to condemn the actions of Israel
It seems like the whole of Gaza including schools, hospitals, residential buildings, Refugee camps, UN safe places etc are all given a free pass for Israel to attack under the guise of Hamas may be hiding there
The hypocrisy is quite telling

She wasn't asking ME anything. You're generalising, as was she. I said the night shift would be on to sour another thread.
