Conflict in the Middle East

To think Hamas have given Israel the excuse they were looking for?

Not all of Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he will obliterate Hamas. But undoubtedly hundred if not thousands of civilians will now be killed.

I’m not sure what Hamas thought the end game if this would be? What have the Iranians convinced them of? This was a sophisticated operation, outside help was given for definite.

I’m not sure it’s possible to rationalise with dehumanised terrorists, neither am I sure what the end game will be, but I just can’t understand what Hamas expected if not a total war/strikes from Israel in retaliation.

and call out the recent terror attacks as unacceptable, not in the spirit of Islam, not in the name of the Gazan population, not supported by anyone in their right fucking mind.

That's islamaphobic I'm afraid. You might want to check yourself. You can't expect any Jewish person to call out Israels terrorism as that is antisemitic. The same goes for expecting any Muslim person to call out Hamas, I'm presuming you are talking about Muslims as you mention Islam, if you weren't you wouldn't mention the 'spirit of Islam'.

@SnowflakeCity

Like to me they are clearly blood thirsty criminals but all of this has made you trust them more? Why?

+++

Because the scale and the barbarity of the terrorist attacks combined with the images of anti semitic "protesters" turn ordinary people off and reduce sympathy for the Palestinian cause.

What's worse is that the sensible and reasonable and only solution of two states is slipping further and further away with emotionally driven convictions.

No it's bloody not. Any self respecting Muslim will condemn the killing of innocent people whoever that is done by and including the Hamas terrorist attack.

I don't really think that makes much sense when it comes to reasons for trusting the Israeli government, you haven't actually mentioned anything about Israels actions just protesters 1000s of miles away and Hamas terrorism but ok.

I don't make the rules 🤷‍♀️ If you don't think it is right for me to insist BlurredEdges for instances denounces the actions of the terrorist state of Israel it isn't OK to expect a British Muslim to denounce the actions of Hamas.

‘Terrorist’ should be attached to Hamas, given they are terrorists

Terrorist is a designation in the U.K. from what I can see

Eg each time the BBC mentions Hamas they get around their squeamish reaction to having to use the words by stating the fact Hamas is a designated terrorist group in the U.K.

They don’t do the same with Israel as it’s a legitimate state

Yes that is why I said the terrorist state of Israel and the terrorist group Hamas because one is a legitimate State carrying out acts of terror. I hope you approve of my phrasing.

Edited to add I don't have a clue what the BBC does or doesn't do. I'm not British and pay no attention to your media.

It’s your interpretation but as you admit you do not make the rules. Israel is not a designated terrorist state in the UK

Hamas is a designated terrorist group though, by definition and in law.

Here’s a list of U.K. recognised terrorist organisations including Hamas

I don't agree with those who use the marches as an excuse to display their anti semitism. The posters who have engaged with me will know I condemn Hamas over and over and over again.

As the hospitals in Gaza are starting to run out of cloth to even shroud the deceased, as whole families and neighbourhoods are being wiped out. More than a thousand innocent children have been murdered in Gaza.
I for one will exercise my right to protest and stand in solidarity with the innocent Palestinian people

SnowflakeCity · 22/10/2023 20:39

Honestly I don't care what the UK does. My point was that that poster was being blatantly Islamaphobic. For a thread that was full of people being very outspoken about antisemitism just a bit ago and talking about how people should be ripping placards out of hands it's very strange how I'm the only one to call it out. You think it is better to start lecturing me on what the UK, a country that sends it leader off to shake hands with a the man in charge of committing war crimes, thinks is terrorism.

She wasn't arrested.

She is fully supported by all of those around her.

I saw and heard things like this with my own eyes/ ears yesterday (I would not have chosen to be in Central London yesterday, all of my trains home were cancelled on Friday and Saturday morning).

I can no longer take my own children into their own city centre .

You are speaking from experience and it's that that matters. Not what any of us, who have no idea, think. Stay safe xx ❤️

Where to even begin ..

hamstersarse · 22/10/2023 20:44

I am staggered by the level of anti semitism emerging in the UK. Staggered. It’s genuinely unbelievable.

And it all seems to be coming from the “be kind” crews.

I feel like we’re going to a bad place, one where we’ve been before. Unless we stop it

Some posts have shocked me, and just sentiment generally

Parkingt111 · 22/10/2023 20:48

People are hurting and in pain
why is it that whilst we fully accept the pain of the Israelis, we have to justify why we feel pain for the Palestinians
Give reason after reason and then still be shot down
I put up a post about the names of four murdered babies and I got nothing except what about the hostages? As if implying i don't care about the hostages. So the tit for tat is accepted if some do it but not others. The double standards on here are quite apparent.
Yet when a poster says they were offended about the march and in comes the pouring of messages of support. The feelings of some matter more than the blood of others
So it's clear on this thread to many
The lives and blood of the Palestinians matter alot less than the feelings and lives of the Israelis

TBF, a lot of us spoke of our sadness about those poor babies. The other night.

All I will say to you unless you've personally experienced hostility the way @BlurredEdges has, its advisable to tread carefully.
