Conflict in the Middle East

To think Hamas have given Israel the excuse they were looking for?

MistyMooPup · 10/10/2023 12:14

Not all of Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he will obliterate Hamas. But undoubtedly hundred if not thousands of civilians will now be killed.

I’m not sure what Hamas thought the end game if this would be? What have the Iranians convinced them of? This was a sophisticated operation, outside help was given for definite.

I’m not sure it’s possible to rationalise with dehumanised terrorists, neither am I sure what the end game will be, but I just can’t understand what Hamas expected if not a total war/strikes from Israel in retaliation.

I'm sure you must realise pro palestine is not the same as pro Hamas
Why would you find the protest disgusting? It's in solidarity with the Palestinian people
There has been many pro Israel demos all across the globe too in solidarity with the Israeli people

I find the fact that they were chanting songs explicitly calling for the genocide of all Jewish people and holding placards with fucking paragliders on them disgusting.

Given that I, my daughter and my mother would all be legitimate targets for the kind of rape, brutality, torture, kidnap and murder that those placards and songs celebrate.

Sorry if that's difficult for you to understand.

No that isn't difficult for me to understand. That's totally unacceptable if there was a minority doing that I hope they were arrested

The majority of the protestors over a 100 thousand were peaceful

I also saw the BBC coverage of the protest which said apart from one placard they saw, the rest of them in their thousands were peaceful

Also which song is calling for genocide?

Well, if the BBC say it, it must be true. Hahaha. Been gaslighted and sealioned for years now, it doesn't work on me anymore.

Congratulations on bullying and terrorising Jewish people off the streets of our own cities. Well done.

Please don't embarrass yourself further by posting photos of fucking neturai karta. Or do. Whatever. Bye.

I arrived back home in London yesterday late afternoon after being trapped elsewhere by the storms. Arrived into the mainline station with a bunch of the 'protestors' and after 2 stops on the tube, I had to get out and take a cab that I really couldn't afford.

I'm Jewish and it was truly, deeply terrifying. Never ever had to do that before. I felt under huge,, real immediate threat

Luckily I found a cab with a driver who was a Turkish Muslim and was just as disgusted and horrified by Hamas as any other decent person. We had a nice chat going home. It was an awful experience though.

I'm so sorry you endured this experience, and more broadly that anyone who understands the true horror of recent events is being so thoroughly gaslit on this thread and others. Fuuuuccckkk.

I am too. I did see footage of the tube and in one case chanting. I felt for anyone feeling understandably not safe.

BeggyMitchell · 22/10/2023 18:18

I'm so sorry BlurredEdges the lack of empathy for you and those in your community going through this right now in the UK is truly astounding.

It's obvious who are being dignified and fair and who are not.

I have been nothing but polite towards you, and you have been nothing but hostile
If you can't put your points forward in a civilised manner then that's fine. I also don't wish to speak to you
I'm sure you realise this is a forum with people from all backgrounds and thoughts. And not everyone will have the same views as you.

Parkingt111 · 22/10/2023 18:25

I don't get it. So we shouldn't stand up for the Palestinians who are being murdered in cold blood every hour
Because other people might be 'offended' by it?
The marches are to show the people of Gaza that the world have not forgotten them. And we won't sit silently whilst our governments endorse further bloodshed
I will not be bullied by anyone on here just because I have a legitimate view that is different to yours

This is such a disingenuous, minimising and nonsensical take that I don’t think even you believe what you’re saying.

The point at which you throw around personal insults rather than a factual based counter argument is the point at which you have lost your argument.

This issue is driven by deeply held convictions and throwing insults around simply hardens those views.
The only chance to achieve a solution and to stop further deaths is through a factual based discussion.

"From the river to the sea..."

Which many believe implies that Palestine should consist of the territory from the river Jordan to the Mediterranean which in turn implies Israel should cease to exist.

It's really not though is it? Your government is approving terrorism, war crimes and crimes against humanity. Shaking hands with the head of a terrorist state and speaking for all of the UK when he says they are behind Israels actions. Of course people have the right to go out on the street and say not in my name. People are really angry that their government are excusing the collective punishment of millions of people and the murder of 1000s, they have a right to express that.

You can't stop people's right to protest especially on such a huge issue because some people feel uncomfortable.

BlurredEdges · 22/10/2023 18:38

Thank you @BeggyMitchell @Alcemeg @EasternStandard @25milesfromhome xx

Bex5490 · 22/10/2023 18:40

I think any reasonable person on this thread agrees that the barbaric actions of Hamas were unforgivable. I think they would also agree that the antisemitism being thrown around is hideous and that all people: Jewish, Christian, Muslim, black, white or anything in between deserve to live without fear of persecution.

But in my opposition to the Israeli government, I resent being accused of racism or justifying terrorism. I don’t believe that everyone attending a demonstration to oppose the actions of a government is trying to threaten or scare Jewish people. I attended the BLM demonstrations where some people were saying awful things about white people, that didn’t mean that everyone on that protest shared those views.

How else can people show that they disagree with world wide issues other than to peacefully protest?

When there are people in the marches singing anti semitic songs, and have placards supporting the paragliding in to kill and Jewish people feel scared in the UK then its not ok. People shouldn't feel scared here.

25milesfromhome · 22/10/2023 18:42

FebruaryOnMyMind · 22/10/2023 18:44

The placard you show @25milesfromhome is disgusting and that woman on the march should be arrested.

In regards to the placards that is not ok. I agree. They should be arrested and charged.
But because a minority is abusing the purpose of the protest it doesn't equate to nobody should be allowed
If it was then the government would have banned it
The same government who went to Israel and said we want you to win
So we can be sure what their views are

This is absolutely vile - hope that women is arrested and charged with a hate crime.

But that doesn’t mean other non racist people shouldn’t be able to protest.

@25milesfromhome I hope you don't mind me reposting your picture. This is the reality of these 'protests'.

Look at how gleeful that blonde woman is. Look at her delight as she holds an openly genocidal placard, confident and happy to do that on the streets on London, supported and surrounded by those who agree.

I'm a Jewish Londoner. How the fuck do you think we feel?

Fuck anyone who supports this.

To think Hamas have given Israel the excuse they were looking for?

Indeed, people are smiling and marching alongside this woman. They don't appear to be calling her out for its message! I hope the police arrest her. She appears quite proud to display her hatred.
