A new thread! This is for anyone who is trying to conceive their first child - anyone welcome!

The current stats list is shown below, UCL means usual cycle length, and CD is cycle day.

In theory the person who starts the thread gets a BFP before the end, but I'll just be happy to get AF turn up again!

cherrycobbler · 09/06/2010 20:52

gold star for Kaloki for doing the list!! I can only sit back in awe and feel ashamed at my incompetence.

I started out being good ish about drinking, and caffeine, and non-pregnancy foods in the 2ww but basically the only thing I do differently now is drink a little less coffee and erratically take Pregnacare (I am much better in the 2ww than the first half of the month). I know it sounds v irresponsible but it could take YEARS, and couldn't face the thought of complete abstention. I don't drink a huge amount as get ridiculous hangovers these days - also have quite a few work-type events where you are expected to drink, and not drinking would be immediately noticed by work and friends, who will all start speculating, and I couldn't face that.

My, what a me me me post - sorry! Hope you've all had good days

Ariesgirl · 09/06/2010 21:01

I know what you're saying about booze. At first I made MrA and myself abstain completely. After two weeks, we were aghast: "We can't do this!" And now we're drinking again. But not too much

Muser · 09/06/2010 22:04

I haven't stopped drinking either, I don't tend to drink huge amounts regularly so I don't see it as a problem. I have been taking my folic acid religiously since the ectopic was dealt with. The drugs they use strip your body of folates so I wanted to make sure I topped them back up again before the shagging ban lifted.

Ariesgirl · 09/06/2010 22:17

And hasn't it lifted just!

not that I have been in the Muse household, you understand. That would be too weird.

Muser · 09/06/2010 22:48

Have you been spying on the webcam Aries?

Kaloki · 09/06/2010 23:39

Now we know your filthy little secrets

womanlytales · 10/06/2010 09:21

Hi everyone,
It's Thursday - just one more day to go to the weekend.
Hope everybody is doing well.
kaloki thank you for updating the stats - brave woman
halo how are you doing? Hope the 2ww hasn't got you down....

I am on CD21 and feel like I might be ovulating late... so the day to POAS seems to get further and further away into the future. But I am taking courage from halo's wisdom and leaving it to as late as possible.

LankyLegs · 10/06/2010 09:47

What's going on Aries and Muser spill the beans?!

How is everyone today? God its miserable out there isn't it? I am slightly (only slightly) excited by the weather in Tuscany which is 31degrees on Saturday and most of next week. Ok I will stop gloating now.... Only 1.5 sleeps to go....

Ladies - am with you on the whole drinking thing - started out the same - abstaining from alcohol, but it did not last long. But like a lot of you said - I think my tolerance is not as good as it used to be any more as I seem to get sozzled on a few glasses of wine now. The nurse who took my bloods the other day was hilarious claiming that I probably knew more about family planning than she did! She also went on and said 'just have a few boozy nights and i bet you will get pregnant' - sods laws it is probably true!

superpenguin and soaralba hope the SWI-ing is going well?!

Cherry I know what you mean about the first 2 weeks - its quite hard reading all the signs up to ovulation - worrying about timing the SWI as best as possible and trying not to fret about whether you are ovulating or not - the 2WW is hard - but its just a waiting game and I try and plan lots of stuff in to make them go quicker. Just make sure that you shag as much as possible!

Kaloki how are the wedding plans going? We have not had any updates in a while? What are you doing about the dress (sorry if I missed any updates).

Womanly did the specialist go ok? You seemed a bit disappointed with your appt? Again - I don't talk to anyone about TTC either - but for some reason always get the questions 'so when you going to have kids' blah blah blah - mind your own thanks. It doesn't help that my sister who is only a few years older than me is popping them out very quickly. Just wanted to send you a hug. I know its hard but one day we will get our babies by hook or by crook. It will be our turn soon!

Hermya many congratulations! A little boy - must be lovely knowing that! Very pleased your 20 week scan went well

Halo hows it going? Fingers crossed for you (secretly of course as you are not counting days!) My 2WW is going ok - have this holiday which has distracted me from over obsessing for once. SATC was actually really fun (thought it would be rubbish because of the reviews) but you have to just take it for what it is really. We dressed up in cocktail dresses and there were free cocktails and champagne which was rather nice! It was put on by Boodles at the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill (oo err) my sister bagged tickets as she is good friends with a manager there. Was very fun for a Tuesday night. Anyway - I hope that you are feeling a bit perkier and feeling more positive. Will be thinking of you this weekend

Right better crack on with it - 2 days of work before hols and my to do list is looking crap.

Have great days!

Muser · 10/06/2010 10:19

No beans to spill really. I was discussing my shagging on another, more pervy thread where Aries also resides.

I don't think I have broken the SWI ban that well actually. Managed day 12 and 14, then day 18 after signs of fertility. There was a bit earlier in the cycle but probably too early. I can't force myself to have sex if I'm not really in the mood for it, even for the purpose of TTC.

SaorAlba · 10/06/2010 10:29

Hi all

How is everyone today? I have a day off work today, yay! Thought I'd be organised and have the electrician come all day. I was all ready to be a martyr and wait in the whole day for him to appear, but he's been and gone already so I'm free to do whatever I want for the rest of today

Lanky I'm sure Tuscany will distract you from the 2ww anyway. Sounds like it'll be lovely. I write to-do lists for work too. When it reaches more than ten items I generally get stressed out and have to have a tea break to calm me down.

Aries I've decided to cut down a bit on drinking, but we'll have to wait and see how it goes. Up until a couple of weeks ago I'd sometimes have a beer or a glass of wine in the evenings, but I'm making a concerted effort to only do this at weekends now.

There is absolutely no chance of DP giving up alcohol. He doesn't drink heaps, but quite likes a beer after work. I'm thinking about twisting his arm to get him to take some vitamins though.

CaveMum I think you're right about sensibleness when it comes to drinking. Considering they say that babies whose mum's drink wine regularly through their pregnancy have better life chances, the statistics seem to agree .

SuperPenguin I love your name. There's only a few days between you and I, so hopefully we'll be both be lucky straight away.

Having been on hormonal contraception for so long I don't have the faintest idea how long my cycle actually is. I was on the injection and then the implant for a number of years, so I spent quite a lot of time not having periods. I reckon I last had unregulated cycles when I was 16 (8 years ago). I don't remember them being ridiculously long or short, but I suppose I'll just have to wait and see. My fingers are crossed for a 'normal' 28 day cycle!

On the SWI front things are going a bit better after my little talk with DP. I think he came to the conclusion that he didn't want to be blamed if there was a BFN this month so decided to up his game.

I generally don't go near the list as I'm usually updating on my phone - my office PC is really public so can't MN there and I'm rarely on the PC at home. I do seem to have lost a couple of days though. I make today CD 14, so now I'm on my PC I thought I'd update my stats.

SaorAlba · 10/06/2010 10:37

Muser Well spotted. Think I had a mental block and convinced myself it was still wednesday. Thanks.

Muser · 10/06/2010 10:40

I am so glad it's not Wednesday! One step closer to the weekend.

I always get confused when I do the stats as to which is the latest version and what day it is. Especially if someone's updated it quite late in the day.

zippys · 10/06/2010 11:53

Hello, having a sneeky post from work as I dont seem to have been on in the last week or so (although do read the post religously on a morning)

Going to be a very me me me post I am afraid as I am posting and running. I am going for day 21 test tomorrow and appointment at hospital is ed of June (not this week as i said earlier .

Tried make more of an effort around anticipated OV with SWI on day 16,18,20,22 and 23 however I have had no OV signs!

On a more positive note I have now lost 1st 2lbs (still have a way to go), get wedding dresses in mind! - oh on that subject no ring yet - he wants me to forget about it and then he will suprise me - how can you ask a girl to forget she is about to get a huge diamond . I have relented and told one friends as she was moving abroad but so want to tell my parents and start planning!

Anyway if I dont come back on before the weekend hope you all have a lovely one for those going away have a lovely holiday
x

Kaloki · 10/06/2010 12:25

Has anyone seen evilgiraffe and claire?

lankylegs Ah the dress saga.. well I chose a pattern. Then found outit was a) too expensive b) not in my size c) doesn't ship to the UK.

So then I thought of hiring someone else to make it and looked at the cost. Realised the material I wanted was too expensive.

Now I've settled on this dress, and am going to look for material.

Ariesgirl · 10/06/2010 12:37

Oh that's lovely! Very bridal.

LankyLegs · 10/06/2010 12:49

Muser I get ya. I did briefly look at the other thread many months ago. Have to say it was really very funny - hat off to you girls

kaloki it looks gorgeous! Brilliant choice - love the off the shoulder arms. Very impressed with you making it?

I totally empathise with the cost thing - seems if you add the work 'wedding' to anything it bumps up the prices massively. You will have to keep us posted on progess.

Zippys you must have to physically gag yourself not to tell anyone of impending proposal! No idea how your DP expects you to forget about a rock! And bloody hell - well done on the weight loss!

felicityFlick · 10/06/2010 12:49

Thats a gorgeous dress kaloki - do you know what colour you think you might go for?

Well done on the wight loss zippys!! and the SWI for that matter Good luck with your test tomorrow.

Also glad it's not Wednesday

Kaloki · 10/06/2010 13:08

Probably black and white. DP is most likely wearing pinstripe (which I have a real thing for), so I'd like to be monochrome too, with turquoise accents.

Florin · 10/06/2010 14:25

Hllo everybody. Sorry I haven't posted for a while I am trying not to obsess too much. Did the temp thing this month which was great as pretty sure when I ovulated however decided to stop temping after ovulation as I couldn't handle the idea of watching it drop prefer to wait out the two weeks with a little bit of hope! I am thinking of testing on Sunday but we will see. I am off on holiday the weekend after so def want to know then so I know if I can drink!
kaloki well done on choosing your dress pattern it looks fab and the colour scheme sounds fab
zippy hope the ring turns up soon I can't believe how patient you are being.
Right this is a bit of a quick catch up as I am on my iPhone at work and got to go back to my desk to sort out something I buggered up earlier oops!

glad to hear I'm not the only one thinking of drinking...

anyhow, Lankylegs I am much jealous of your impending trip to Tuscany, even though I have not long returned from my honeymoon in Italy (twas fab!)

SaorAlba I was also on the injections - for 9 years! came off it the injections about a year ago and periods returned after 6 months, so I've been having fairly regular AF for 6 months or so now (see, I'm picking up the lingo haha). we've been being careful though until this month when we are now definitely TTC.
Glad to hear your SWI is back on!

Zippys congratulations that's so exciting! when I knew my now-DH had bought the ring (not difficult as we went and chose it together!) I couldn't wait for the big proposal and told everyone we were engaged! (with his slightly reluctant agreement).

Kaloki when are you getting married?
I love weddings!

Update on the SWI-athon: so far so good!

final question - what is 2ww?

Kaloki · 10/06/2010 14:49

2ww is the 2 weeks waiting after ovulation.

The wedding is this September at Whipsnade Zoo

Hello All

Just a quick note from me (third time I've written this as computer keeps crashing) to say that I am coming back to join you all. It just wasn't meant to be for me this time on the graduates thread .

I've spent all day at home and visiting the doctor. Now just waiting for DH to get home so we can go out and order ourselves and expensive bottle of wine.

Had a bit of a cry about it this morning but feeling ok now. Just want to focus on moving forwards and being positive. Probably go back to work tomorrow.

I will be back again at the weekend to catch up with everyone properly.

Kaloki - that dress is stunning!

Zippys - well done on that weight loss. You must be very please

Lanky and anyone else heading off on holiday I hope you have a fantastic time. On the positive side we can now start thinking about a lovely summer holiday. Can also crack open a few bottles of nice wine from the cellar

Could someone please add me back to the list but under the 'not counting days' -I will keep Haloflo company there. I am on Cycle 2 (still) although consultant I saw today said to go back in 3 months if my cycles aren't regular by then (which I think is likely given I haven't had regular cycles in my life) so that is now what I am working towards. Perhaps I'll have to crack open the Angus Cactus that I have sitting in my bathroom cabinet but never had the chance to try before.

Lots of Love

Good old Agnes Cactus. Say hi from me. You've just reminded me to eat some!
