A new thread! This is for anyone who is trying to conceive their first child - anyone welcome!

The current stats list is shown below, UCL means usual cycle length, and CD is cycle day.

In theory the person who starts the thread gets a BFP before the end, but I'll just be happy to get AF turn up again!

Grapefruit juice, my dear Headbanger, actually gets you pregnant. No it really does.

Apparently it helps you produce EGCM, along with the cough mixture, starflower oil, Omega 3 and lots of water drunk, but absolutely not antihistamines which as well as drying your snot up, dries up your other snot. So this summer should be interesting one as far as hayfever goes. Hope you're ok about all the GP stuff. Must have been a bit of a shock.

Kaloki · 21/04/2010 18:46

wannamummy Sorry to hear that

Headbanger · 21/04/2010 19:05

Sorry to hear that wannamummy - I know the feeling only too well. Last time I had a BFN I spent the evening in a warm bath reading a trash-mag and eating a Curly Wurly. Worked a treat.

Hm, interesting Aries. Fruit juice is out for me cuz it's so calorific and so are my thighs . Didn't know that about antihistamines! Blimey! Is the whole entire WORLD stacked against us?!

Calyx · 21/04/2010 19:35

Marking place. Happy birthday Kaloki and welcome to the new people, you'll love it here

Still on iPhone as pc still dead and nothing TTC to report, going through rocky patch with DH so no chance of BFN this month. Probably just as well but will be lurking and sending you all good vibes as I read xxx

pipsicles · 21/04/2010 19:47

Wow!!! I logged on to my account to see the threads I'm on and it said nothing!!! You leave things for a day or two and it's all change!!!

Wannamummy, you know it's not over until AF arrives. Maybe you need a morning wee? Don't want to get your hopes up needlessly (I did enough of that myself last month), but it might be worth double checking in a couple of days?

Hello to oneof8 and Loubee - found your story about DH rather amusing, although I'm sure he doesn't!!! I hope it wasn't serious?!

zippys - sorry to hear your news, but glad you have a supportive GP who'll get you through as quickly as possible. I've heard some can be a bit insensitive - don't know what mine's like - hope I don't have to find out!

kaloki - good to hear from you again - glad you had a lovely birthday and a great surprise from your brother! My brother's only 14, so more of a baby than yours, but I know that I'll still be calling him my baby brother when he's 23 too!

Aries - hope Adrian's done the trick for you this month! Sounds promising anyway - fingers crossed! (I think I failed my first FF test too! [embarassed])

Speaking of FF - has anyone paid for the VIP membership? My trial VIP membership comes to an end in 11 days, but I don't know how basic the basic is yet. I know there is the comparison thingy, but it keeps telling me that more people get pg if they have VIP (scam?!), so kind of want to believe them, but know that they don't really have much control over it! Advice/ideas?!

Also...I have a long cycle (38 days, although last month was 43) so shouldn't ov until next week, but have been having womby cramps for past two days. No other signs of ov yet - CM is dry and no temp spike yet, so a little confused. Currently waiting for wee to cool down so I can do OPK, but think that's unlikely to show me ov too. Again, any ideas? I'm v. confused!!!

Right, I should get back on with my work - DH keeps looking at me typing away and I know he's thinking how I came in late and said I've got so much to do and have now sat down and written my longest post yet!

Have a good evening!!!

CaveMum · 21/04/2010 19:51

wannamummy really sorry to hear about your BFN. Hope we didn't push you into testing.

Back from dance class & making dinner - pasta bake. Found out that my exam has been pushed back a whole month to 12 June - boo! My teacher has to get to Greece and because her flight was cancelled last week she will now get back only 3 days before the exam and that's not enough time for her to have a lesson with all the candidates.

Ho hum!

wannamummy · 21/04/2010 20:18

Hey all, thank you for your messages.

CaveMum don't worry, I'd decided to test tonight anyway!

Feeling a bit better now.

pipsicles, I've not given up complete hope, but I'm trying to be realistic and not turn into a crazy lady

Have a good evening everyone x

zippys · 21/04/2010 20:35

Ok, I am going to try to catch up but sorry if I miss anyone out as will only be going from this thread. Thanks for everyones lovely comment ? I really appreciate the support I get here (right that?s enough gushy stuff!! )

Aries I think I am officially screwed then, hate grapefruit juice and take antihistamines every day (if I don?t take them I would have an anphylaxis and could die )

wannamummy sorry about BFN it is always horrible isn?t it, but as has been said so many times before its not over until AF arrives. Don?t worry too much about been a crazy baby lady ? we have been there

Oneof8 - hi nice to meet you. I have head aches sometime around ovulation so it could be a sign ? but then again I get them most of the time ? sorry not much good am I!!!

evilgiraffe glad the docs are now doing something ? hope you wither get AF or even better BFP soon I agree the more you know the more you can deal with it (even if it is crap news ) lets hope you get some nice answers soon ? like a BFP!!

flick well done for putting up with pil so long ?I get on with mine well but would have gone mad by now!! How is your Dad by the way?

Headbanger sorry to hear your news I hope the docs can get to the bottom of it for you. It must be really hard having to deal with. I am thinking of you.

Hi Loubee welcome to the madness ? no we are lovely really! I cant really help much on staying sane ? all I can say is don?t expect it to happy straight away (I do hope that it does for you though )

claire196 good luck with your seduction

cavemum sorry to heart about your exam. I always wished I went to dance classes but am too un co-ordinated!!

Kaloki happy birthday ? glad you had a good day.

Calyx sorry to hear about DH ? is it serious problems or just a blip (sorry is that too nosy?) I hope everything works out ok ? we are here if you want to talk. Xx

pipsicle I am really lucky with my GP ? the last 6 months would have been hideous without him. Cant help with FF as I don?t use it sorry ? but am considering doing so soon ? so let me know what you decide.

Ohh exciting news for once from me ? I get a new car tomorrow so excited. Collect it after work tomorrow and will be counting down the hours! Have gone for a big car ? ready for pram with ISOFIX for car seat. (See I am trying to be positive)

Also v exciting we have got engaged (kind of) have chosen the design of the ring and its is being made at the moment, then DP will do big proposal etc when we have ring ? hence kind of! I am not meant to tell anyone but I thought you lot would be able to keep my secret!!

zippys · 21/04/2010 20:36

Loubee ofcourse I meant happen straight away - sorry typed in word and it auto corrected!!!

Ariesgirl · 21/04/2010 21:19

I think the antihistamines are bad news ONLY if you take them whilst ov-ing IF you're short on CM (God, can't believe I'm talking about such things) If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, it's the usual "ask advice of your doctor before taking". I have extreme allergic reactions to something (don't know what) as well zippys. My face blows up like a balloon and I wheeze and have the shits. Lovely. Have been hospitalised with it three times and have been advised to always carry antihistamines and an inhaler. So obviously if one of those episodes occurred, I too wouldn't stint on the Piriton.

mumnerves · 21/04/2010 21:24

Lovely new thread guys!

Happy birthday Kaloki

Sorry about BFN wannamummy but still no AF so don't give up

zippys congratulations on the engagement How exciting!!! and a new car too!! Good news comes in threes you know, it may be your turn for a BFP soon

Hope everyone is doing well. welcome to oneof8 and Loubee.

zippys · 21/04/2010 21:28

ahh I see, my CM seems up and down each month but some months there is quite a bit (god the things we talk about) I sympathise with you re allergic reaction - have you had tests? My body creates to much histamine and caused heart to stop and throat to close up - so I too carry antihistamines, inhaler and epipen. I have changed antihistamines when started trying and docs says it will be fine for when I eventually get pregnant. Obviously if I need epipen it could cause mc but lets just hope that never happens!!!

zippys · 21/04/2010 21:29

sorry xpost mumnerves thanks for the congrats - ooh never thought of 3's -lets hope so

Ariesgirl · 21/04/2010 21:35

Sorry love, I completely missed the bit about getting engaged - congratulations!

Re the epipen - it's quite scary stuff isn't it? I'm not that extreme thank goodness. I had to have an adrenaline shot the first time, then antihistamines and monitoring for the next couple of times. The most dramatic time was when I stayed with my future PIL for the first time and I then had a face like a pumpkin for the rest of my stay. To be honest, no one knows what the trigger is, it seems different each time. So, I'm just carrying the antihistamines and if I start to wheeze, get blotchy, have the runs and itchy eyes, I pop a couple, get all drowsy for a while and when I wake up I'm fine. Hopefully won't happen if I get pregnant.

pipsicles · 21/04/2010 21:39

Congratulations zippys!!! That's very exciting news! Our engagement was a kind of surprise too, in that I knew he had got the ring designed, but didn't realise he had it when he got down on one knee. I guess the fact that we'd booked the wedding the month before was also a bit of a give away(!), but he took me back to Aberystwyth where we met at uni and proposed as the sun was setting on top of the hill by the sea - dead romantic!!! Some people think it's a bit stupid I knew before and that it's sad I wasn't surprised, but I was, and also, isn't a bit weird if you had absolutely no idea at all that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you?!

Maybe we should share proposals/first dates etc to give us something else to think about and to remind us why we love our OHs? (Which I guess will make us want to SWI and thus bring us full circle, so maybe it won't take our minds off after all?! !!!)

CaveMum · 21/04/2010 22:03

Aww pipsicles that sounds so sweet!
DH and I got engaged in 2007 on the 5th anniversary of our meeting. We got each other cards and in his he wrote "I O U 1 diamond ring"! Turned out he'd driven all the way to my parents house (90 miles from where he worked & 200 miles from where we live!) that day to ask my dad for permission to marry me!
We've been married for just over 18 months now.

On other matters, I know I was the one complaining about the lack of posting a few days ago, but if we carry on at this rate (40+ posts today so far), this thread will only last a few weeks!

Kaloki · 21/04/2010 22:32

zippys Congrats!! Hope you'll show us the ring when it's done!

cherrycobbler · 21/04/2010 23:11

Aaahhhh I leave the thread for three days and it turns into a new one?? No time to read through everything but looking fwd to catching up at the weekend - so just a super quick one to save a place on the new thread - and looks like congrats are in order zippys!! hope you are enjoying the moment

proper post at the end of the week. off to bed - up horribly early tomorrow - boo for that. night! xxx

Starberries · 22/04/2010 07:14

I want to join!!

I am 22, partner is 24 and we are TTC baby number 1! Partner is the one TTC, both girlies here.

Cycle length normally 34 days, and we are on Cycle day...um...not sure. Although our donor came Monday, and she ovulated yesterday so here's hoping we get our BFP in 2 weeks!

This is one thread I hope to stay on and run

CaveMum · 22/04/2010 07:23

Morning starberries and welcome to the mad house!

I'm sure someone will add stats to the list later today - I'm still not sure on how to do it, so will let one of the more experienced ladies do it!

Fingers crossed your timing is right!

PinkiePoo · 22/04/2010 07:23

TA-DA......Pinkie is here!!

Took me a while to get here....but after reading every single post WORD FOR WORD (lie ) i think i have caught up on the Soap Opera that be First Time Frolickers!

Well, got my little barnet done FINALLY yesterday....highlights, and a fringe!! Always a bit sceptical about fringes, but i thought f**k it, lets go crazy! Really like it...for now...i will get bored again soon, and end up hating it. I AM EVER THE OPTIMIST!

kaloki sorry for the non b-day message. Hope you had a lovely day at the Zoo. welcome to the 26 club....a slippery slide into 30's now...ha ha! Age doesn't phase me at all, because i still act like i am 16 at the best of the times!!

zippy congrats....thats wonderful news! If its not babies, its weddings...! Mine is still married to control freak wife, but when he has the extra money he will get a divorce, actually its not him, its her...she can't afford it. I have about 2 months left in me of being nice through gritted teeth, then its WAR!!! ha ha!

cave sorry about the exam, but least you got more time to make sure everything is perfect....right? Now it is getting sunny and all lovely outside, i would love to do salsa, with a antonio banderas lookie likey partner

aries thanks for making me laugh throughout these posts...sounds like your patience is on par with mine. If i had given Fertility Friend a whizz, my laptop would have been out the window now, followed by a slight mental breakdown with stamping feet and slamming doors. Maybe i should give it a go, to give everyone a giggle.

welcome newbies.....enjoy the thread, its a good 'un!!

I am enjoying the non AF days, drinking my weight in wine, eating goats cheese galore, all in vain hope that if i enjoy these things, it will turn up ie; Sods Law. However, Sod is being a real Sod and not doing what i want him to do!!

Right i am done. Hope you enjoyed my waffling on..... ta ta

chalky3 · 22/04/2010 07:40

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been away for so long. Congratulations to those of you who have had BFPs since I was last on here. I haven't read through everyone's posts yet, there's so many!

Can I be taken off the lists please? DH and I have decided to take a break from TTC. As I'm sure you all understand, it puts a huge amount of pressure on both of you and month after month of nothing has really got us down, we need some time out! I won't be going back on the pill though, don't want to mess up my cycles for if/when we decide to give it another go.

Good luck to everyone, I'll pop back to check on your successes. Hope none of you are on the list if/when I rejoin!

felicityFlick · 22/04/2010 08:05

Just issued an ultimatum to DH ( have not done this before!) It was over email I might add so that makes it less dramatic than it sounds
We are expecting FOUR more friends for the weekend. These are two of our uni friends and their wives and all six of us have been planning this weekend for about six months if not longer. Of course as the bloody pils are STILL here all plans are messed up. DH's mum is saying 'oh well we have squatters rights in the spare bed room' as a 'joke'. It makes me want to hit her! AGHHH. Anyway, I have well and truly lost it and told DH that I think that his parents are now being incredibly selfish. We have put them up for now THREE weeks and have not moaned once- there has be no tension and DH and I have been so accommodating even inviting them out with our friends (to which they bloody accepted so have endured many nights out with our friends and THEM!) Yes, they are stuck and how horrible for them but they KNOW that they are going to get home, they have a bed to sleep in, have incurred no extra expenses and are with family...I don't know why they don't at least OFFER to stay in a hotel for two nights so we can enjoy our time with out friends. Is that unreasonable of me to think that they should do that? They are well off so can easily afford it!
I said to DH that I think they are being really selfish and are about to ruin a much anticipated weekend with our friends through their inability to see the bigger picture and how their actions impact on other people. So my ultimatum was I am not coming home until this situation is sorted out- I told him he needed to man up and deal with the situation.

Feel better now- sorry for rant but I have reached mt limit today!

I have not got my Flickremeberingheadon today so I will just say huge congratulations to zippy and skulk off to lick my wounds and stomp my feet some more

PS. when I come back I will tell you my meeting/engagement story as DH is lovely really!

zippys · 22/04/2010 08:22

Morning, thanks for all the congratulations, cant wait to get the ring but I think it will be a couple of weeks as it is being made for me (it is just really simple round cut solitaire with a compass setting) Oooh getting even more excited talking about it! Only problem when do we plan the wedding for? As I (fingers and everything else crossed) may be a preggers bride

Flick dont worry about sulking - I have been seriously impressed with your calmness so far- let us know how you get on.

Chalky3 sorry to hear the pressure has got too much, it is so hard isnt it I have taken you off the list but put you a bit further down instead - hope this ok.

Starberries hello - welcome to the mad house. Good luck with the cycle. I have added you to the list but left a couple of question marks re CD etc.

Cherry hope your morning wasnt too early and you managed to get some sleep

Pipsicle and cavemum your stories are both lovely. A lovely story to tell your children

Pinkie ooh new hair do - sounds nice. I am always really boring with my hair as there is little I can do with it. A fringe on me would be the biggest nightmare ever

Anyhoo I have updated the list (sorry if any errors - havent done it for a while) Hope everyone has a lovely day

Hello Starberries - welcome. All manner of honesty, crudity, TMI and downright stupidity (oh that's only me) very welcome.

Flis I think it's eminently understandable that you have snapped and I would have done it weeks ago. Can't stand it when my PIL try and come out with us and be down with the kids. Good luck. In my experience all men are terrified of offending their mothers.

Pinks hair sounds great and reminds me what a terrible frizzy birds nest mine is. Will book an appointment today.

Sorry to hear your news Chalky. Probably be the best thing to take a break to take the pressure off a bit.
